Joseph and I got our wake up knock on the door at 5:40, up, showered and out the door by 6:30, my hair put up in a clip to dry on the way! We went to the RER entrance at the St. Michel station, weren't sure which B train to get on, so got on the first one and asked someone right away if we were on the right one to Charles de Gaulle Airport, no a very nice young man told us. Get off at the next stop (Chatelet- Les Halles) and take the next train. He was getting off and showed me how to read the sign to know which one was the right one, the lights come on next to the one showing up next, not rocket science but I guess you have to know it... We've definitely been blessed all along the way with people going out of their way to help us understand the right way to do things. We waited about 6 minutes for the correct B line train to come along as we were boarding a man getting off literally pushed Brenda down! her leg went between the train and platform, everyone's
adrenaline was pumping, she was able to get up quickly, some kind people were here also and helped us get on the train with all of our belongings as I think we were a bit scattered by the event. Really our first and only very unfortunate happening of the trip! We were all a bit shaken by it and it was good to have about an hours ride to calm down before arriving at the airport... Brenda was a real trooper about the whole thing, no whining from her!
We arrived at CDG by 7:40, terminal 2E still had to check in since our online check-in didn't happen the day before. Tried to use the kiosk but that wouldn't print our boarding passes so to the line we go! while in line security asked us questions about the who/what/where/when of packing our bags, we needed to show them our passports at this time also even before getting to the check-in desk. Once at the desk they again looked at our passports and printed out our 2 sets of boarding passes. On to border control, got our passports stamped and on to the other side and into the security line.
I got the pat down as I set off the alarm, I had forgotten to take off my money belt! Took that off, they checked it and me and then I was on my way fairly quickly. We all got through by 8:30, right on schedule, found our gate # 33 and waited... boarding was late by 20 minutes but we still left on time at 11 am. Carlie and Sarah both had their bags checked at the gate last minute decided by the gate agent, so when we arrived in Salt Lake we had to get them from the baggage claim. As it turned out it wasn't a problem, their bags were there right on the other side of Border Control in Salt Lake.
