Geo: 49.5846, 117.434Local market. The city is still very Chinese looking with its temples, little birds in cages and red doorways. They sold amazing leather goods. Boots, bags and hats. The cowboy boots where amazing and just a little expensive. After a quick lunch we where off to the airport. We had to drive from... read more

Geo: 36.8945, 104.166We got up early for a quick walk about the town with the early morning sun light. There was ice in the river so it was pretty cold. There where cows roaming the street, which seemed a little odd. All of the shop signs where not in Chinese but in Russian. That was a little odd too. The houses where pretty basic timber frame with wooden high fences that kept in the horses or cows in the field. In the vegetable garden there where cabbages and the Chinese long lettuce growing.Breakfast was boiled eggs, bread, rice porridge thingy and tea. It was ok. We walked around to the bakery and bought more bread for the journey. It ... read more

Geo: 49.2037, 119.754Three families travelled as far north as possible in China and ended up very close to the Russian border. We could see Russia far off in the distance. We had one crazy tour guide.... If you could call him that.... And that is really being very nice. One very interesting border control that wasn't even the border. Drank a variety of different vodkas and beers. We saw a very rocking Rock band and ate a whole sheep. All of the kids got sick, except one and one of the mums joined the... read more

Geo: 23.12, 113.25We went for the weekend. Friday night and then returned Sunday night.Only Problem.... Flight was delayed. We arrived in Guangzhou at 1am Saturday morning.Very common in Nanjing. It was very humid at the beginning of September. We went up to the top of the Guangzhou Tower.111 floors and 448.8 meters high to the roof but to the very tip its 595.7 meters high.It was the tallest tower in China until Shanghai Tower replaced it in 2013.There is a great view of the city. We also saw window cleaners cleaning the windows on the 107th floor. They where tied up with rope. It didn't look too safe to me. We rode Tuk-Tuks everywhere. The shopping markets are huge. They are out of control. There is a huge shopping mall just for ladies clothes.Another huge shopping mall just for ladies ... read more

Geo: 38.1643, -0.47342TABARCA. Beautiful island, great beaches. Tabarca is a boat ride from the Alicante Harbor. It takes about 45 minutes by boat. This little island is beautiful. The water was crystal clear. There is not a lot of vegetation on the island and it was very hot so there was nowhere to shelter from the sun. It felt like we had stepped back in time. You can walk around the whole island in about an hour. We stayed the night in a small bed and breakfast. It was great just to sit and watch the sunset and sunrise. During the day there where lots of souvenir shops open and restaurants set up in the streets but at night it was like a ghost town. There really was nowhere to go when the sun finally went ... read more

Geo: 38.346, -0.484756ALICANTE Beach, tomatoes for breakfast and even more food, castle on the hill. Alicante is defiantly another pace from Barcelona. The average age of the people in Alicante seemed older or with younger children. The old area of the town is a great place to walk around in the narrow streets with the front doors of the houses opening up right onto the streets. The large town square in front of the town hall is always alive with people, tables and chairs from the restaurants surround the edges. There was also a stage set up for a concert and then on the weekend there was a small flee market selling all sorts of old things. In a smaller square just a few blocks away you can have dinner under the stars while you wait for your ... read more

Geo: 41.3879, 2.16992BARCELONA Food, sun, soccer finals and friends. In July the sun is out and the weather is perfect in Barcelona. The people are all so lay back. Lots of young hipster almost hippy looking with the tie dyed, very worn clothes, dreadlocked hair and tattoos. It was almost impossible to find someone without a tattoo. The city is very urban and grungy with lots of shops closed down and graffiti. I love the feel of Barcelona. It's old with lots of history and it feels lived in. Sagra Famiglia is amazing and it still isn't complete. The Mercato just off the Rambles is full of very yummy things to eat. We took the hop on, hop off bus to get a feel for the city and included the Poble (Pueble) Espanyol which was built ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097FRANCE Paris Museums, tower, padlocks on the bridge. We travelled with -easy jet- It was cheap but we could only have one bag each so we wore most of our clothes and also wore our biggest pair of shoes. The Louvre was the number one place to visit. We arrived early the next morning only thing o find a very, very long line. So we waited. The line creatively curved around the court yard area and moved quite quickly. About 1 hour and we had arrived inside the Museum and it was reasonably priced. On my list to see was - Monalisa, which is ever so tiny compared to some of the paintings there, Napoleon on his white horse in the battle field, by Gros, Napoleon at Eylau. Then, dumb dumb I want num ... read more
