Geo: 7.89072, 98.3988Raya Island. We took a boat to Raya Island. It felt like we arrived on a ship wrecked island. The beach was white and clean. The sky was still overcast. Not the perfect blue I was hoping for. We drank coconuts and again ate like royalty for a very small price. There where even iguanas that lived on the island. They where moving very slowly but those things are huge and just a little scary.... read more

Geo: 7.97501, 98.3515James Bond Island. We got up quite early and drive around an hour to get onto a boat to get us to the island. The landscape is so different from anything I had ever seem. There are all of these tall rocks poking out of the sea. It really is beautiful. Once again it was all over cast so the sky and sea where just a shade of grey. I'm sure if the sun was shining the sky and sea would have been an amazing shade of blue and would have given us an even more amazing view. Phang nga is the name of the Island but they filmed a James Bond movie there so it has been nicknamed James Bond Island. There is one rock that is so tall. It looks like a Giants ... read more

Geo: 7.97501, 98.3515Rawai.We had come from an overcast cold winter into lovely warm weather. It was still overcast but we where very happy to jump into the pool and wear shorts and sandals. The local beach down south is really beautiful and very basic but a great place to take photos. We found a small ship wreck on the shore. It was a small fishing village. The fishing nets where hung on the trees and the cages where made with bamboo and plastic drinking bottles where used as floating devices. Very clever and in genius. We ate in a little restaurant on the beach. Very simple but amazing food.... read more

Geo: 7.97501, 98.3515Train from Nanjing to Shanghai to get a direct flight to Phuket. The only flights arrive very late or early morning around 1am. We figured that it would be easy to get a taxi once we got out of the airport. Unfortunately you had to book the taxi inside of the airport before you exited. So after a few minutes two or is went back through the X-ray machine and then walked around to the exit and booked a taxi. It was around a 1 hour drive so by the time we arrived we really needed to sleep.... read more

Geo: 39.9165, 116.391The area that we stayed in is perfect. It is located in the mountains about 1 and a half hours, taxi drive from Beijing. Unfortunately, because of the National holiday it took us three hours. Stuck in traffic. The accommodation is actually 12 individual residences designed by different Asian architectsand has a part of the Great Wall within walking distance on site. This really was an added bonus. It is like having a part of the wall all to yourself. There is also another longer walk that takes about 2 hours and has a great view of the Wall.... read more

Geo: 39.9165, 116.391National Holiday in China is not a good idea to be traveling in China. There are always people everywhere but on National Holidays there are even more people than you can even begin to imagine. We had organized a tour guide to collect us at the train station and show us around the city.First stop was The Temple of Heaven. It is beautiful. People everywhere. Then off to Food Street. This is a strange place. The food that you find here is not what you would find in a normal restaurant.Squid on a stick. Spiders, crickets, starfish, crabs, oysters, scorpions, livers, hearts, testicles.Just a little odd. Luca and Serena tried most of them.I just took photos of them eating.NEXT DAY.Tianamen Square - Forbidden City.Once again people everywhere. There were huge pots of flowers and the China flag flying ... read more

Geo: 30.25, 120.17We left after school and work had finished on a Friday night for the weekend. There were 3 families traveling together. We caught the fast train to Shanghai and then another fast train to Hangzhou.(There is now a fast train from Nanjing straight to Hangzhou.)The first thing we did was walk to the lake from the hotel. The weather was nice and one of the boys was on a mission. He had his phone out and we followed him. There were signs pointing to the right to the Lake."No. No. This way, to the left," he insisted.Ok, so we all followed.... We arrived at Starbucks. "We are here," he announced. "Time for Coffee."After a quick coffee break we started on our walk towards the lake.Firstly we had to catch a boat to the main part of the island. ... read more
