We could see the walk of Fame with all of the stars and the Graumans Chinese Theatre from our window. Geo: 44.9785, -93.2653Mall of America, friends, a huge candy shop, IKEA, Juicy Lucy and lots of walking. The main reason for traveling to Minnesota was to visit friends once again. We stayed close to The Mall of America. This place is huge. There are so many shops in this shopping mall and there is also a huge fun park with rides in the middle of the mall. It's very cool and I met SpongeBob. We spend one whole day just there. That evening our friends drove us to the Largest Candy Store. It was huge wi... read more

Geo: 43.1066, -79.0642As we drove into the city we could see this huge white cloud. We thought it was smoke and then maybe steam from a factory.... maybe. As we made our way closer to the falls we realized that all of that smoke-steam was the mist from all of the water falling over the falls. There really was so much water. And so much noise. It was so loud! We also did the Journey Behind the Falls on the Canadian side. Now that was a little scary too walking in a tunnel and there is an opening so you can see all of the water falling. It really is loud and I realized just how dangerous and forceful water could be. The area around the falls is like a theme park with lots of rides ... read more

Geo: 43.7231, -79.3925CANADA Lots of driving, family, Niagara Falls, Beavertails and boarder control. We borrowed our friends car and drove from Michigan, over the border and into Canada. There was no problem at all crossing into Canada. My husband has family in Toronto and Ontario. First stop Ontario, Big Chief Island. They live in a very big house on the lake. The view is beautiful of this island which isn't too far away. He told us that the islands is where the Indian Chiefs where buried and that's why it's called Big Chief Island. Quick tour of the house and a drive through the town and then of corse we have to see the casino which is run by the native Indians of the area. Very fancy and we had a quick gamble. No luck but ... read more

Geo: 42.2331, -84.3272Our friends dad lives on Whampers lake and of corse had a boat. We spent the 4th of July there. We took the boat to the pub across the lake for dinner. Not just this night but a few other times too. It was really pretty and relaxed. The 4th of July celebration was fantastic. We had s'mores while sitting around the Bon fire. Toasted marshmallow, piece of chocolate squashed between two gram crackers. Very yummy. All of the Americans that had lived in Nanjing all came to this party where we ate, ate and ate while some of us drank. Living in Nanjing not many people drive but they have a driver that drives them about. The roads are crazy in Nanjing and the drivers are even worse.... So when it comes to ... read more

Geo: 42.2819, -83.7485ANN ARBOR Friends, eating, drinking, laughing and 8 Mile. Meeting up with other ex-Nanjing friends. It's funny when you haven't seen friends for a long time you just seem to fit back into each other's lives. Just like you haven't been apart. It's strange but it all feels normal. We went to a really odd artsy place called The Heidelberg Project. It's an area where artists have taken over a rundown housing area and have turned it into works of art by using lots of recycled objects. It's really organic and earthy. There was a slogan that said, "Detroit vs Everyone" My friend asked if I wanted to see something in particular I wanted to see in Michigan. "8 Mile?" I replied. "Really?" She said with a shocked face. She listed of about five other ... read more

Geo: 40.7528, -73.9853AMAZING. Time Square in the rain, bus and ferry rides. It was raining when we arrived but that didn't stop us from getting out and about in Time Square. There where lights everywhere and still loads of people getting wet. The next morning it was still a little wet with low clouds. The boys went and saw a soccer match while we girls walked Central Park. There was also outdoor book stores selling books. Without the boys that night we went and saw Wicked on Broadway. Yes.... It was WICKED. And yes it was expensive.Next day.... Finally blue sky. We took one of those hop on hop off tour buses and it worked well.We jumped on the ferry across to Brooklyn. That really is pretty. I really wouldn't mind doing that every morning. Wall Street ... read more

We met up with friends that we got to know while living in Nanjing who have moved back home to Michigan. We wanted to see their home and experience their Michigan. We went shopping and looked around the city and handled guns?!? They where all in a row and on show. You could just pick one up to get a feel for the riffle. There where rows and rows of them. Very interesting. It was in an outdoor store along with camping goods and clothing. IKEA. Yeah my friend had to go to IKEA so I was super excited to go. She had organized for her friend to drive a ... read more
