Sunday September 10th, 2006 Day 24 Mallorca, Spain Once again we took it pretty easy today. No one even bothered doing the trip to the bakery. Six days in sunny Mallorca and this is what happens to you, you become accustomed to not having to do anything and you get fat because you become lazy and spend your time eating, drinking, sleeping and sunbaking. Not good but so good at the same time. So this was the big few days in Mallorca, the Annual Grand Fiesta. This was because Santa Ponça became the host to the Rei en Jaume Fiesta to commemorate the landing of King Jaime the First back on September 10, 1226 in his quest to conquer the island and take it from the Moors after more than 300years of Muslim rule. Mallorca became ... read more

Saturday September 9th, 2006 Day 23 Mallorca, Spain I slept in this morning and let Parky and Simi do the bakery run. We spent a lot of the day either laying by the pool or swimming in the pool. The boys did decide though that it would be fun to jump off the back cliff and into the water. I couldn't bring myself to do it. We also took a walk into Santa Ponça to check out the markets we saw advertised as part of the Annual Grand Fiesta. The main things happen over the next few days but for now we'd settle for all the bizarre stuff they were selling at the street market stalls. After a stroll around and a very long walk back to the villa in the heat we decided to take ... read more

Friday September 8th, 2006 Day 22 Mallorca, Spain I did the bakery run this morning, again with Parky. The other boys were very grateful, I was happy to walk the hangover off. After breakfast I showered, we got ready and headed into Santa Ponça Marina again to head out on the boat. This time, two of the boys stayed back at the villa to get out the 'Air Cruiser 2000' and have it ready for by the time we got the boat around there. It was this thing that two people could sit it and it was pulled behind the boat. We spent a few hours taking turns on this thing, though because Adam was the only one with a boat licence so he was the only one to control how fast each of was pulled ... read more

Wednesday September 6th, 2006 Day 20 Mallorca, Spain The day started off the early. To try and beat the heat, Parky had gone early to the bakery so when we got up breakfast was sorted. Handy. After this, we jumped in a taxi and headed into Santa Ponça to the marina. Adam's dad had left the boat with not much petrol so firstly we had to fill that up. After waiting about 20minutes for another big boat to finish filling up we were on our way. We went east around the coastline and ended up in a big lagoon-like area where we were able to anchor and swim to shore. There was a little restaurant there too so we had some lunch too. We found an advantage to Australian money being plastic as when we pulled ... read more

Tuesday September 5th, 2006 Day 19 Mallorca, Spain The day started off a little slow, the humidity and the heat really gets to you. But eventually we made our way down the street (about a half hour walk in this heat) to the local supermarket to get some food for the next few days. It was strange to see some of the things the same as back home, then it was kind of hard to work out what some other things were, for example, meats. We got some pastries at the bakery for breakfast and then made the walk back to the villa. We spent most of the day around the house and in the pool, the boys having a game of trying to head butt a ball while jumping in the pool; this became their ... read more

Monday September 4th, 2006 Day 18 Guildford, England to Mallorca, Spain As it turned out, we didn't get much sleep as we had to be up at about 2:30am to get ready. Chris' mum was nice enough to drive us all the way out to Gatwick Airport (which I'm sure seemed to take longer than it actually did). We arrived at the airport at 3:30am, before check-in even opened, and before the other boys got there. So we sat there waiting, talking about random topics (as we had a habit of doing) making sure we didn't leave our bags unattended OR "they would be removed and destroyed" according to the recording that kept being repeated over the loud speaker. The boys arrived about 25minutes later and we were able to check-in by this time. We then ... read more

Sunday September 3rd, 2006 Day 17 Guildford and Windsor, England I was up a little later today, it was nice to get a sleep-in. I finally dragged myself out of bed, got ready and we walked up the street to meet up with Chris's mate Simon and his girlfriend Nicky. The boys were playing a game of cricket today out in Windsor (though we did try and convince the boys to ditch the game and we'd go to Thorpe Park instead. Fail. Apparently cricket was more important than fun. After leaving the boys down at the cricket ground, Nicky and I walked into town and decided to do a tour of Windsor Castle. It only cost £13.50 to get in. We slowly made our way around knowing that we had a whole day to fill in. ... read more

Saturday September 2nd, 2006 Day 16 London to Guildford, England I was able to sleep-in a bit today, it was raining again so I decided to stay in bed a bit longer. Nick had taken the day off work so we decided to take a trip out to see the Cutty Sark and the Royal Observatory at Greenwich. So we jumped on the tube and made our way out there. On our way to check out the Cutty Sark first we stopped off at some market stalls. They weren't very impressive because it was early and they were still setting up so we moved on and around the corner to the Cutty Sark. The Cutty Sark was built in 1896 and was one of the last sailing clippers to be built, and it is the only ... read more

Friday September 1st, 2006 Day 15 Bath, Lacock and Stonehenge, England I was up at 6:00am this morning. I had to catch the tube to Victoria Station for my 'History and Mystery day tour' that I'd booked just the night before. There was only five of us on tour so it was really good. I got picked up at 7:40am in a little minibus and we were on our way. First stop: The Cherhill White Horse. This is the second oldest of the Whiltshire horses. It is very well placed on a steep slope, the horse is easily visible from below, and from a far distance. Originally the eye of the horse was made of upturned glass bottles but after going missing on several occasions they were replaced with stone and concrete. The horse itself is ... read more

Thursday August 31st, 2006 Day 14 London, England Today I left a bit later, at about 10:00am, and made my way to Camden Market for a browse. I bought a few things then made my way on the tube to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. I spent just under 3hours in here and I was on my own. I can't imagine how long you'd spend in here if you had someone else with you to take photos with. It cost me £27 to get in but was well worth every penny, and I got to skip the line, otherwise it would have been about an hour to get in. After getting my photo with Robbie Williams and The Beatles I decided to go and do a tour of The Tower of London. This was really cool as ... read more
