Temp: 106°F - 41.1°C Day 4 started later. Soph let me sleep until 10:50am coz it was the first night sleep id had since id been there (i resorted to veryyyyyyyy basic sleeping pills from the chemist!) Anyway, got up and left the apartment by just before midday. We jumped on the Duece (bus company that is $7 for a 24hr pass (and yes, the bus runs alllll night here) to head out to the outlets. On the way we stopped off at the food warehouse thing where basically u can get a really good meal for next to nothing (combined breakfast / lunch, done!) then headed quickly to Fry's electrical to pick up a memory card. As it was July 4, upon entrance to Fry's we were greeted with Cotton Candy (aka Fairy Floss) and ... read more

Temp: Bloody hot!! Day 3 was an early one. Not only hadn't i slept in about 4 days (nope, not even a minute sleep last night!) we also had to be out the front of our hotel by 6:20am to be picked up for our Grand Canyon West Rim Tour. I t didnt seem to take too long to get out there and we stopped off for some photos at the Hoover dam on the way out. We past a few towns with nothing in them and then through the Joshua Tree Forest before arriving at the West Rim. We were first in line for the Helicopter and boat ride which basically consisted of being helicoptered out then down to the bottom of the GC where we had a 20minute boat ride down the Colorado River. ... read more

Temp: Bloody hot!! Day 2 didnt start out so well as though even though id had about 5 hrs sleep in the previous 48 hours, i still couldnt sleep! i added mayb about 3hrs onto that with last night. Soldiering on, we were up at 10ish as karen wanted to catch the bus out to a place called 'Fryers' which kinda like Harvey Norman but bigger and better. This was because even though her mobile was working in Auckland, NZ it had decided it wasn't going to work here. So we were in search of either some help or an alternative. Here we were to find a prepaid nokia phone with $15 credit for only $30! Bargin! and the texting and calling home is cheaper! With that problem solved I headed over to the nerdynerds for ... read more

Temp: 101°F The first day was a veryyyyy long (thanks to crossing the international date line) and drama filled day. Where to begin. Firstly, while sitting at the airport waiting to leave melbourne i discovered that my little laptop that i specifically bought to bring with me wasn't working. Then, we realised that Karen and i had been seated sepately in the plane! We were the 3rd bunch of people to check in and we checked in together, and the stupid women went and sat us apart!!! Then we had a stopover in Auckland only to discover that when i tried to send a text my phone wouldn't connect to a network!! Arghhhh!! And, again, we weren't sitting together!! o well,i sat next to a lovely couple from just out of Seattle so got some advise ... read more

Thursday September 7th, 2006 Day 21 Mallorca, Spain I was up early this morning as it was too hot to sleep and I'd told Parky to wake me up when he was heading to the bakery (this had now become a morning ritual). I thought it would be a good chance to get to know him a bit better without the other guys around. We walked to the bakery and back, had breakfast and headed into Santa Ponça to have a look around. The shops here were all the same, selling countless souvenirs and more inflatable pool things that you could imagine. We checked out the beach, this was very classy. After laying on the beach for a while and trying out the water we dried off and headed across the road to McDonalds for lunch. ... read more

Saturday August 15th / Sunday August 16th Day 29 & 30 London, England to Melbourne, Australia via Hong Kong, China I was up early this morning, I really should have gone to bed earlier. I'd already had my shower the night before, thank goodness. I packed up the remainder of my belongings and made my way to the tube, during peak hour. This was a killer of a trip. Kate was meeting me half way to come to the airport but the trains were chocker-block. Not fun I can tell you. Finally we made it to the airport at around 10:30am and my flight was at 12:20. Kate waited in line with me at check in for about 45minutes. Finally I made it to the counter, checked-in my luggage and it was time to say goodbye ... read more

Thursday September 14th, 2006 Day 28 Guildford to London, England I was up early this morning even after a very late one getting back last night from Mallorca. I packed up all my stuff from Chris's house and him and his mum dropped me at Woking Station to catch the train into London for my last day. After my 20minute trip on the train I arrived at Waterloo Station. I jumped on another train and made my way to meet Kate and drop my belongings at her place. Then she joined me on my Monopoly Day. While doing this we came across a memorial for the millions of animals which have been killed in conflict (during wars) while serving for their country. The Animals in War Memorial is situated at Brook Gate, Park Lane near Hyde ... read more

Wednesday September 13th, 2006 Day 27 Mallorca, Spain to Guildford, England We slept in this morning as our flight back to London wasn't until 9:50pm. We put off getting up for as long as possible as we knew we had to clean the house. It actually didn't take anywhere near as long as we had expected to get the place back to how we had found it 10 days earlier. we cooked up all the left over groceries that we had bought for our breakfast / lunch. Then we had to clean out the hundred's of empty bottles (beer and water) from the bench. I forgot the mention, you can't drink the water here (well you can, but you would get a tummy ache if you did) as it is highly chlorinated and has a very ... read more

Tuesday September 12th, 2006 Day 26 Mallorca, Spain Not too early this morning, no bakery run either. As it was our last full day in Mallorca we decided to get a cab out to the Western Water Park in Magaluf. It cost €19 (Aus$30) to get in, which was good compared to say, Wet'n'Wild back home. We went on almost all of the rides and slides and even sat down to watch the Sea Lion Show, that was very cute. I flatly refused to go on one of the slides though, it is like one of the ones at Wet'n'Wild that is so steep that it's almost vertical and you scrape your back all the way down. Adam went on it and his back was red raw. It was funny to watch others go on it ... read more

Monday September 11th, 2006 Day 25 Mallorca, Spain No one was up early today. I was first up so I decided to let the others sleep and made my way down to the bakery. It was a long, hot and fairly boring walk. There was no one around; the only people I saw between the villa and the bakery were two young local guys who were re-doing a footpath. We each said our "Hola’s" and I continued on my way. By the time I got to the bakery there wasn’t much left as it was already late compared to the other days. The lady in the bakery was so nice, each morning that I went in, she'd try and teach me some words in Spanish, I liked her for this. I got the left overs and ... read more
