Temperature: 27 degrees, sunny then rain Today was abit of a struggle again to get up. With the combination of very little sleep over the last week and a fair amount of alcohol last night I, and a few others were in a bad way. We were up at 7:50am though as showers needed to be had and so did breakfast before we had to be on the bus at 8:30am to go out for our group photo. I managed to have my first taste of vegemite since I've been here, on a bagel of all things. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the goodness of the plain white unsweetened toast that can be found at home. We got on the bus and made our way to a brilliant spot to have our group photo taken, ... read more

Well, after 2 hours sleep I felt literally like death warmed up. I set the alarm and dragged mine and Mary's butt out of bed, showered and made our way down to the front of the hotel to hail a cab to go the 10 or so blocks to the Skyline Hotel. There was no way we were walking that, it was still raining and it only cost us $5 anyway. We arrived at the Skyline Hotel, croissant in hand to a few others in same state that we were so we didn't feel as bad but I knew as soon as I got on the bus it'd be right to sleep. Well, sleep I did but was it in no way a good nor a comfortable sleep. I felt so groggy and my neck was ... read more

We had a tour booked today for 9:30am, we were running a little late but made it in time. It was a neighbourhoods tour, so we were to visit the different neigbourhoods of NYC, including chinatown, little italy, the upper east and upper west sides and harlam. Some of it i was able to sleep though thank goodness as i had seen it. The tour was very imformative, the only downside was that we were the minority in the english speaking to the french so we did feel a little robbed on the information, but we got to see some nice things that we most likely wouldn't have normally seen. We went inside the cathedral church of st john the divine. we saw the neighbourhoods then ended up at the world trade centre site. From there ... read more

Temp: 33, Hot!!! Today started early for me, i got up at 8am even though i was up til after 2am. Got up, had a shower and made my way to Madison Square Garden to book a tour, tours started at 11am and the other two were doing the sex and the city tour (borrrrrrrring). So i did the tour. Madison Square Garden was amazing. They took us though the locker rooms of the Rangers and the Pheonix and through the corporate suites (very nice) and it gave me a small insight on what i had to look forward to tonight. After the tour i went our and down onto 34th street for some shopping. Got a few pieces here and there then made my way on the subway to 5th ave/59th to meet up with ... read more

Temp: 29 degrees We got up before 9:30am because they have a free breakfast on here the the hotel. We had showers and made our way on the subway to Battery park to catch the Ferry out to the Statue of Liberty. It was already quite warm by this time, especially on the train. Luckily we had prebooked midday tickets as the line was massive, it went in loops through battery park. We got on and over to the island in no time. Went up to thepedistal and took lots of photos, climbed the 156odd steps up there but got some really good shots. When we got back to Battery Park we caught subway to Wall St, got a few photos there, found the big bull, took some funny pics then got back on the subway ... read more

Hi guys, sorry it took a while to update these, lack of time and net makes it hard but ill still be typing them all up, may just have to post them all at once. Temp: 26 degrees After spending the majority of our overnight flight with the flight attendants at the rear of the plane due to my sickness i felt like death warmed up once we arrived at Phillidelphia Airport for our transfer flight to La Guardia Airport in New York. The flight attendants were lovely, they suggested trying some flat coke as apparently they used to sell just coke syrup here for upset stomachs (i think it helped me a little). When we boarded in Philly i couldn't believe how small the plane was, only 4 people wide... and only had one flight ... read more

Today started badly, we went to sleep after 4am and i woke at 6:30am with the worst sickness in my stomach again. I had to get up 3 times over the next 2 hours to be sick, not nice. Too many drinks and lack of sleep combined with a dodgy stomach was never a good idea. After we rang and asked the front desk for a later checkout we had to clean the apartment, this was not fun when i was feeling as sick as i was but we ended up getting it done and checked out by 1pm. We left out bags at the hotel and got in the hire car and drove down to Anaheim so Mary and Ron could see Disneyland and get their picture out the front. We had a lovely lunch ... read more

Temp: 22, sunny but chilly wind Thanks everyone for your well wishes, i think they have worked. Feeling much better today, thank goodness. Couldn't have handled another day of that. Today started off slow as didn't get to bed til after 4am as Ron and Mary got in about 3:30am. We dragged ourselves out of bed, had our free continental brekky provided by the hotel and showered before making our way in our hire car down the Interstate 10 out to Malibu. It was nice but nothing too spesh, so we jumped back in the car and headed for Santa Monica, parked at the pier and walked up for some photos and seafood lunch. It was quite chilly on the pier, the wind was icey, but the sun was out. After this we headed up into ... read more

Temp: 23 (in LA) So, the first blog of my new adventure. Another drama filled start! Ron was due to pick me up at 7am so we we're at the airport by 9am for check-in for our midday flight. I woke at 1:30am feeling really sick. I had a constant feeling of needing to throw up with my head just about on fire. i took some zavance hoping to drop my temperature but no luck. At 3:30am i woke the parentals to see if there was anything they could suggest only to be told that we were going down to the hospital to see what was going on. We went to Dandenong Valley Private Hospital Emergency instead of Dandenong Hospital because I'd probably still be sitting in there with the drunkos. The doctor checked me out ... read more

So, I've been back for a week now and have had some time to reflect on my trip. There was a few things about USA that bugged me: 1. Tipping - i know the importance of it but still... 2. Tax - just include it in the price like we do here! 3. Alfredo Pasta - Just put the bacon in and make it Carbonara 4. How KFC didnt have fries... all their meals came with potatoe wedges (what the?!, thats the best thing about KFC!) But there was so many things i love about the country that definately outweighed the bad.. 1. WALMART!!! - Love this shop, had everything you could want and more! 2. Dollar Tree - Like our $2 shops but everything in the shop was actually just $1! 3. Forever 21 - ... read more
