Settling in and enjoying the warmth Kat was up early to go to the rv dealer to pick up her new rig. I had to run out and snap a picture of her old rig so we can compare the old and new. It was cold out, 44 degrees, so I ran out said good bye and ran back in and back to bed. Kat is supposed to return tomorrow afternoon with her new rv after orientation and driving lessons. After coffee and GMA on the gorgeous new tv Oscar and I went out for a necessary walk. Back inside I had a phone call from Jane, my wonderful friend from home, to hear that it was 2 degrees in the Poconos. I couldn’t wait to brag that it was now almost 70 degrees and very ... read more

Here and settled I left Lake City and 6 hours later finally got to Peace River Campground in Wauchula. It was supposed to be a 4 hr trip but like always there were stops to make and this time a traffic jam at a flea market.. I can’t believe the way flea markets here are so incredibly popular. The markets are HUGE and traffic is backed up miles in all directions. It took 20 min to just make it past the entrance and then I thought I was home free, not to be. There was a traffic light about 5 miles up the road and it took an hour to get through it. This was a two lane road through the woods, straight and flat so to have this amount of traffic was totally unexpected. I ... read more

Enjoying sunny Florida The sun was brilliant this morning. I went outside and didn’t need a coat at 8:30 am. Oscar wanted to go out too so we sat outside for a short time even BEFORE coffee. I had a plan for the day but it was evolving slowly, no more rushing. After coffee and a wonderful shower I just couldn’t leave the camper in the mess it was in. I washed the dishes, wiped down the cabinets, made the bed and swept the floor. Boy, that made me feel good. Now I was free to get ready for the day’s adventure. Bottle of water, bisquits and dog food, dog dish, camera and telephoto, and maps. We were heading out to Big Shoals State Park not too far down the road. I unhooked the car in ... read more

Sunny and warm I haven’t commented on the weather lately, have to correct that. I drove from Ringgold, GA to Lake City, FL today. No matter how long mapquest says it will be to get from hither to yon it’s always longer. I travel the speed limit, make few stops and still it takes me hours longer. Or maybe it just seems that way. I drove 7 hours today or at least on the road that long. When I first went outside this morning I could see my breath. The temp was 38 but the sky was clear and the sun was bright. I packed up, hooked up the car and was off by 10:30. Today was the first day I drove with sunglasses on this trip. It was an outstanding day. With each stop the ... read more

Got up about 7:30 had coffee, walked Oscar and called the rv place to see if they could install a new tv. They could get er done sometime today. I talked to my neighbor at the rv park and he said he would put it in for me tonight. Great, so off I went to Wally World again, bought a flat screen and a wall bracket and was back in a flash since I had the car and didn’t have to unhook everything and secure the interior. Terrific to have a car! Since I had the whole day and it was BEAUTIFUL out I decided to see Lookout Mt. We arrived about 11:30, bought a 3 attraction pass and headed for the Enchanted Gardens, which is part of Rock City. Oscar was welcome so we headed ... read more

South to Florida I was ready to head south in more ways than one. Just coming back from a cruise with the grand kids I realized how much I miss the sun in the winter. Our winters have been gray, cold and rainy lately and it’s just SO depressing. Since I have my wheels, it’s off to FL I go. There was a snow storm overnight that dumped 5 ½” on us but the roads were cleared and I threw last minute bags in the van and was off by 10am. Even hooking up the car in about 10 min double and triple checking the connection. Remember to turn the key on one click so the front wheels turn, trans in neutral and brake off. I locked the car door because it dawned on me that ... read more

Salisbury, MA was a zoo. I had envisioned a peaceful night at the beach, early autumn with cool nights and still warm days. Well half the east coast had the same idea. The campground was packed, I was lucky to get a spot for 1 night. It was a state park and campers were packed together like sardenes. We walked around til we found a trail leading to the river, really part of the ocean it was so big. Dogs were not allowed on the beach so we had to find somewhere that had great smells for Oscar and views for me. We settled in for the night after figureing out I didn't have the electric turned on at the hookup box. After dinner I realized how tired I was so hit the sack early. Sat ... read more

Our night at Elm River Camp Ground was exceptional. I drove on the grass and Pennelope was immediately level. The restrooms were right behind me and the internet was fast and my computer accessed it with no problem. The restrooms proved to be exceptional, which is VERY rare. I had coffee and a shower then took Oscar for his walk. Pictures . We walked along the river and enjoyed the autumn colors and that distinct smell. We walked the “extra mile”, it was just so nice out, the sun was shinning again! I had sausage, oatmeal walnut pancakes and coffee for breakfast, wow am I stuffed. The last blog got published and I sent a few e mails then it was time to leave. I decided to make the 16 hr trip in 3 days and ... read more

It’s sunny!!! Yeh!! Woke up to bright skies and watched the sun rise over the Mt. I am just outside Cape Breton Park on an island with not much but the campground on it. First order of business was to take a walk on the beach, with sand. There are rocks but it’s mostly sand. There are sea gulls (the kind that know how to look for their food) and ravens and wind. It’s a perfect beach day. Oscar ran and smelled and I took in the bright sun, wind and smell of salty air. How special a morning it is. Since the sun was out I wanted to backtrack up the coast and see how different it would look without clouds. The wind was ferocious, I had to fight to keep Pennelope on the road. ... read more
