On the return from Tangier, we sat next to a couple from England, and engaged in a lively and enjoyable conversation. This began when the husband looked across at us on the ferry and offered, "so you are going to Seville"? Apparently, he had overheard an earlier conversation with another person about our next city. Africa is so close you can almost reach out and touch it. Did we mention a Pillar of Hercules? Geo: 37.8864, -4.77683Ah, cool and breezy Cordoba. Just received a message from Doozer and learned the temp in Gainesville is 78, while here it is 93. However, there is minimal humidity. In fact Bird and HP sat at an outside café and consumed two more sangrias and had a couple of tapas after the visit to Mezquita.Cordoba is a bit like Granada in that there is one stupendous sight and several much smaller ones. We visited the smaller ones yesterday, while today was solely devoted to Mezquita. This is a relatively small and pleasant city. We are enjoying Spain.... read more

Furthermore we have left Fernando's apartments. We have made two mistakes with accommodations in Europe, one last year in Prague, and Fernando's in Barcelona. Both now in the rear view mirror. Barcelona, it is really a beautiful city, yet we are looking for history, not much there, but very pretty and nice folks.Now in Andorra, which is the third smallest country in the world behind Lichtenstein, where Doozer never set a foot but Baby Bird and HP did. Geo: 39.3592, -0.598868Today we hopped the Metro. BTW, have we told you the subways in Europe are way better than the provincial thing in Atlanta. They go everywhere here, seven lines in Barcelona. But we digress, after the metro, we then made the train with a ton of time to spare...two minutes. An hour later we arrived in Montserrat, and took a cable car up 2400 feet. Not a ride for folks worried about heights. This place was first occupied as a monastery in 1025, but monks were here a hundred years earlier living in caves. But all of the current buildings were constructed in the 19th century. My gosh, that was yesterday. Now a bit of a confession (perhaps we will visit that priest).
