Hi travel followers. Time for a fresh update on our adventures and where we are at etc. After leaving Uluru (not before a dingo stole one of my shoes - must have smelt good after a 15km walk the previous day) we headed for Kings Creek Station for an overnight stay and then on to Kings Canyon Resort for a few nights to soak up the area before again moving on.Kings Creek Station was an excellent one night stopover on the station itself and appears to mainly deal in "camels". Apparently it is the worlds largest supplier of wild camels. The camp ground itself is pretty basic, (has showers and toilets) but that is part of the ambiance where they allow open air campfires and you lay in bed at night listening to a Dingo or ... read more

Hi travel followers. Time for the latest update on our retirement adventures. For the last 4 days we have set up camp at the Yulara Desert Resort campgrounds and been touring the area trying to take in everything we can including Uluru (Ayres Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olga's). First up while the weather was good we decided to climb the rock to the top. What views are to be had from up there and I must say it was one fantastic experience. Lyn also made it with lots of encouragement and coaching. That afternoon we took a 3hr sunset camel ride/tour through the desert which took in the rock and sunset over the desert. Again another fantastic experience that will stay with us forever. Day two and we headed towards Kata Tjuta (the Olga's) and ... read more

Hi travel followers. I thought it was about time I updated our travel blog on our adventures. From Woomera we moved on to Coober Pedy (375kms) as there was basically nothing in between. When I say nothing, I mean only open, flat roads with no towns, no properties, no cattle or sheep and no wild life including kangaroos or Emu's etc. The scenery was fantastic, but that was about it. We decided to set up camp at Coober Pedy for 5 nights as there was quite a bit to see and do and a few things I wanted to cross off the "Bucket List" like visiting the opal fields and going down a working Opal mine, visiting the Coober Pedy Golf Course (reciprical rights with St Andrews in Scotland) visiting the Breakaways and the "moon plains", ... read more

Hi travel lovers. Just thought I would keep you up to date on our adventure. We are now in Woomera (Australia's missile testing town) and I can see why it is used for missile testing. I.e. Even if something went wrong with a test, you wouldn't hit or damage anything as it is just wide open flat desolate country for literally hundreds of kilometres. The closest town which we have taken a side trip to is Roxby Downs and the Olympic Dam Mine Site. Roxby Downs is basically a town that was specifically built to house the workers for the mine which is apparently one of the biggest uranium mines in the world, not to mention the copper, silver and gold etc. Thirty odd kilometres further on is Andamooka who's claim to fame is Opal mining ... read more

Hi travel lovers and followers. Here is part three of the most recent adventure from Wilpena Pound. What a great place to venture out from. The weather for the last day or two has been absolutely disgusting. Cold wet and windy, BUT in between the breaks we managed to venture out and get in some of the sights. Today however was an absolute cracker and we managed to take in many of the sights that we wanted to visit doing the loo, like Blinman, The Parachilna Gorge, the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna, Beltana Road House, Brachina Gorge. What a great day with quite a bit of full on Four wheel driving through the gorges via the dry creek beds etc. We can see why so many people make this area a visiting point. The scenery was ... read more

Hi blog followers. This is part two of a three part blog of our latest adventures over the last couple of weeks. From Hawker we moved on further inland to Rawnsley Park Station which is just at the bottom of Wilpena Pound. What a great park it is with excellent facilities and a really good atmosphere about it and they haven't gone overboard with the captive audience and prices. The only slight drawback was there was limited Mobile coverage. I.e. We had to go to the camp kitchen to get a good "Telstra" signal. Bad luck for anyone who was connected to any other service providers as none of them have had service in hundreds of kilometres. The funny thing was, we got 100% signal when we went for the 11.5km walk up to Rawnsley's Bluff. ... read more

Hi travel followers. Really sorry it has been some time since the last blog, BUT it is the same old story. I.e. So much to see and do and so little time to do it all and log it to the blog etc. After leaving Clare, we moved not far up the road for a nights free camp at Yaka (Yakamoorundy) and then on to Melrose and stopped at the Showgrounds for a few days and what a great spot it was. It just happened to be the annual "fat tyre" mountain bike competition and the town was basically totally booked out and buzzing with activity. We also finally got a chance to have a decent camp fire. See the photos. Now that is a camp fire. On top of that, the sunrises were spectacular. From ... read more

Hi travel lovers. I figured it was time for a travel update since it has been some time. We spent a couple of weeks in Adelaide checking out all the local sites in and around the city and surrounding country side. Included was a quick 4 day trip to the Gold Coast (Mullumbimby) to celebrate my sisters (Isabelle) 60th birthday and brother inlaw (Darren) 50th birthday. A great time and congratulations to you both. Included in the Adelaide adventure was trips into the Adelaide Hills to see Mt Lofty, Bridgewater (Bridgewater Mill and water wheel), Hahndorf (German Village), Lobethal, Gumeracha (giant rocking horse) and then the Gorge Wildlife park before heading back to Adelaide. On leaving Adelaide we headed for Clare (another wine district - Riesling) to spend a couple of days checking out the surrounding ... read more

Hi travel followers. Just a quick update on our adventures because Lyn got taken to Gaol yesterday. Old Adelaide Gaol that is. They had an open day Sunday with entry only $3 per adult. I liked it so much I decided to lock Lyn up. Funny, she seems happy about it in the photo, but wait until she finds out the door is locked. Hope you enjoy the photos.... read more

Hi travel followers. Time for our latest update. Given Adelaide appears to be a very cycle friendly city and the weather has been extremely kind to us, yesterday we decided hit the bike ways and head into the city to do some exploring. We worked out it is roughly 32kms round trip from our park along the beach bikeway to the Torrens River entrance and bridge and then following the north side river cycle trail right into Adelaide Oval and the city without crossing a single road. What an excellent ride and day it was. A beautiful city to tour including the Mall and Central Markets and checking out the new Adelaide Oval. Etc. We have holidayed in Adelaide before, but that was some time ago and there have been huge changes "for the good" since. ... read more
