Hi travel followers. After almost another week (the days just seem to disappear) we thought it was time to post the latest travel blog on what we have been up to and where we have been. Picking up from where we left off in Broome, we spent a couple of more days there heading down to the point to view the Dinosaur foot prints (at very low tide) on the rocks. I must say it is extraordinary that they have survived the ravages of the sea. The following day we did a whale watching and sunset cruise and what an excellent day it was as we have never done one before. Large amounts of whales including a mother whale teaching her calf how to "breach". What a demonstration it was. The calf just kept breaching time ... read more

Hi travel followers. As mentioned last blog, we have now set up camp in Broome for a week so that we can check out what the area and the Kimberly has to offer before moving on yet again down the West Australian coastline. I must say, we had high expectations of the area and to date it has not let us down one little bit. First up we did the rounds of the city and the famous Cable Beach just to get familiar with the area. Just to make sure the Landcruiser didn't feel left out we took it for a drive along the 29 odd kilometres of Cable Beach including the "nudist" beach. (a bit disappointing as there wasn't much showing) but the beach itself was spectacular with it blue waters, white sands and red ... read more

Hi travel followers. There is no surprise, we have moved on from Kununurra and have now arrived and set up camp at Derby, but not before one or two overnight stops at the Bungle Bungles, Halls Creek, Mary River and Fitzroy Crossing. I must say we are glad we took the Bungle Bungles flight first as they are even more spectacular when you see them up close and personal. Places like the Dome walk, the Cathedral, the lookout and Echidna Chasm all have excellent walks and are unbelievable. If there is a supreme creator, he had a good day the day he created the Bungle Bungles. In the Kimberly they have a saying, when god created the earth, he took all the left over rocks and put them in the Kimberly. I would have to say ... read more

Hi travel followers. We figured we had better take some time out to update our blog as we have done a lot in the last week. I.e. After leaving Katherine we stopped off at places like Victoria River and Timber Creek before spending a couple of nights at Lake Argyle with it's Infinity Pool (see photos) and then almost a week at Kununurra. There is so much to see and things to do in the surrounding area so we based ourselves in Kununarra. One day we visited Wyndham, the Grotto and Parry's Billabong to the north, then next day did a tour to the west to El Questro Station which included Emma Gorge, Zebedee Springs, a Barramundi lunch at the station itself and a sunset cruise through Chamberlain Gorge and then a visit to the El ... read more

Hi travel followers. After Kakadu, we moved on and spent a few days at Katherine so we could take in the Hot Springs again and of course Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk) Although we have been through Katherine Gorge before quite a few years ago, it is always good to refresh the memory on just how great it actually is. What a fantastic place to visit and just take in the grandeur of the Gorge itself. I must also say the local indigenous guide we had was also excellent and really knew his stuff and also knew how to make it extremely interesting. We have now moved on to Lake Argyle and Kununurra via Victoria River and Timber Creek stops, BUT I will leave those photos and associated info for the next travel blog when completed. Hope you ... read more

Hi travel followers. After a few days in Litchfield National Park, we moved on to Kakadu/Jabiru for a few days. We have also been here before, BUT when you can do it slowly and take your time to understand and appreciate the surroundings it looks much better. Also, given we now have a great four wheel drive, we can do things we haven't done before like cross the Cahill's low level crossing (see photos) into Arnhem Land. This is one of those "tidal" crossings where there was half a dozen 3 meter crocodiles waiting each side of the crossing looking for lunch (Barramundi) to make the crossing. An unbelievable experience driving across and staring into the eyes of crocs checking you out for a possible lunch. We also took the couple of days to visit and ... read more

Hi travel followers. After almost a 2 week break in Howard Springs/Darwin just chilling out and enjoying the 22C nights and 32C days plus grass in the van park, we thought it was time to catch up on our blogs and let everyone know we are still alive and what we have been up to etc. After Mataranka (the last blog) we headed for Darwin as I needed to get the Cruiser serviced and give it some new tyres etc. Along the way however we stopped off for a day or two at places like Adelaide River (the little Van Park behind the Pub is excellent) and Edith Falls (national park) which was another beautiful spot where we ran across our first "snake" on the walk up to the "top pool" and falls. (see photo) At ... read more

Hi travel followers. Our latest travel update sees us at Mataranka and the Bitter Springs Thermal Pools. The van park we are staying at is just a short walk from the springs so we are heading down to take a dip (and soak) a couple of times a day. It helps wash away the red dust picked up from further south and thaw out the bones. What a spot. 14C over night and 28C during the day. Perfect for getting out the T-shirts and shorts and sitting back with a cold ale in the late afternoons. Gotta love the Northern Territory this time of year. So much so we are going to spend 6 weeks or so just slowly getting around to see as much as possible around Litchfield, Darwin and Kakadu etc. before we begin ... read more

Hi travel followers. Just a quick update on our latest destination. After leaving Alice Springs (and leaving the cold behind) we headed for Tennant Creek with an overnight stop off at Wycliffe Well & the Devils Marbles. Just another great spot to visit. Wycliffe Well is know as the UFO Capitol of Australia which is a great marketing ploy by the owners of the Roadhouse and a bit of fun for travellers. The van park was excellent and as part of the deal for staying there (only $25/night) the restaurant offers two for one meals which were also excellent. After a quick overnight stay in Tennant Creek (definitely would not recommend staying in this town and seeing all the shop windows are caged and barred etc. you will know why) we are now heading for Mataranka ... read more

Hi travel followers. We are now in Alice Springs for four days and yesterday we visited all seven gaps, gorges and Chasms etc. along the Namatjira Drive on the West side of Alice. What an outstanding day. By the way, it was a 330km and 8 hr. round trip with walks into all the sites etc. Attached is a photo of all seven sites. See if you can match the photo with the name. Ormiston Gorge, Ellery Creek Big hole, Simpsons Gap, Ochre Pits, Glen Helen Gorge, Stanley Chasm and Serpentine Gorge. There is also some extra shots for those who like more. Hope you like them.... read more
