Hi travel followers. Well another two weeks has disappeared and we just wonder where they go, but here is a brief description. From Cloncurry we headed to Mt Isa for a few days to catch the famous Mt Isa Rodeo. Apparently the biggest and richest in Australia. From there we then headed back via Cloncurry, Mckinnlay (famous for the Crocodile Dundee "walkabout Creek Hotel") and then Kynuna on to Winton, which is part of the Australian Dinosaur trail. While at Winton we visited the "Age of Dinosaurs" attraction and did a 110km side trip to Lark Quarry to view the only known example in the world of a Dinosaur Stampede with over 3300 fossilised dinosaur foot prints in just one section of rock that has been excavated. They believe there is over 75000 still untouched. Spectacular. ... read more

Hi travel followers. Another two weeks have past and a lot has happened. From Cairns we headed back to Innisfail and up the range and inland to Ravenshoe, Innot Hot Springs and then Undara to spend a few days touring out and walking the Lava Tubes and the Kalkani crater etc. Just an excellent spot to spend a few days. From there it was on to Georgetown and Forsythe for a day, then Croydon for another day to explore the town and then Normanton for a couple of days. All three towns are fairly small, but each have individual histories to explore. From Normanton it was on to Karumba for a few days and to just chill out and enjoy the "fresh" Barramundi and chips while watching the sun set over the Gulf of Carpentaria etc. ... read more

Hi travel followers. Well, another couple of event filled weeks have passed and we thought it time for an update. We have now ticked another item off the bucket list as we have now travelled via the Peninsula Development Road and the Old Telegraph Track all the way up Cape York to the Northern Most "tip" of Australia plus Thursday and Horn Islands. As part of the trip we visited and stayed at places like Cape Tribulation, Cooktown, Laura, Lakefield National Park, Musgrave Station, Coen, Archer River, Lockhart River, Portland Roads, Iron Range National Park, Morton Telegraph Station, Chilli Beach, Weipa, Twin Falls, Elliot Falls, Fruit Bat Falls, Bamaga, Seisia and of course the very top of Australia. All in all it was an excellent trip up including all the side trips and after spending a ... read more

Hi travel followers. Just realised it has been almost three weeks since the last update. From Innisfail it was then onto Atherton for a week. On the first day here, as it was wet so we decided to head for Herberton and the Historical Village. Very nice indeed and it would have to be the “best” collection of Australian “pre 1945” farm, town, mining and general household goods we have ever seen. The next day we decided to tour the northern areas out to Lake Tinaroo (a nice spot for a camp for a few days), then across to The Peanut Place, up to Mt Uncle Distillery, Granite Gorge (a big disappointment) and then back to Tolga and The Humpy Nut World before checking out the free camp at Rocky Creek which is an excellent spot ... read more

Hi travel followers. Well it is that time for the latest update on our adventures. While at Rollingstone we had some very spectacular sunrises and visited some of the National Parks on offer including the drive up to Paluma, Little Crystal Creek, Big Crystal Creek and the Frosty Mango. The scenery at Little Crystal Creek is just spectacular and the Camp ground at Big Crystal Creek National Park is definitely worth a stop in the future as well. Worth $11.50 a night. Beautiful spot. The stop at the Frosty Mango is also mandatory as the Ice Cream is excellent. It was then on to Lucinda via Ingham with a detour/stop over at Jourama Falls National Park. This is a great little spot and has a great little camp ground that fits caravans. Definitely a spot for ... read more

Hi travel followers. Now for something you really dread. The next update of where we have been, what we have been doing and where we are now. From Bowen we travelled to Ayr for another great week at Rhonda (Lyn's sister) and Sam's place where I did a bit of work replacing and lacquering their front and back timber doors. I also did a bit of work at Lyn's dads place freeing up and adjusting stuck doors, replacing light globes and installing a hand held shower. etc. It was absolutely great to spend some time with Rhonda, Sam and their family as well as an excellent dinner with Lyn's dad and Rose as well as other family and friends from Ayr. From Ayr it was the short trip up the highway to Serene Valley (just south ... read more

Hi travel followers. Another two weeks have passed and we have slowed our pace a little as the weather has been absolutely fantastic where we are. I.e. After Cape Hillsborough we headed to Proserpine for a night and then Airlie Beach for a "week". During our time here we took a fishing charter to the inner islands which was a great time out on the water and I caught a couple of fish. (See photo of my Nannygai.) On another day we did the short drive to Conway National park for a great 6km walk through the rainforest and then it was onto Cedar Creek Falls for another great little walk and climb to the top of the falls etc. While still at Airlie we also did a day trip up to Dingo Beach and Hydeaway ... read more

Hi travel followers. well, another two weeks have passed and we have visited a lot of places and done a lot of things since the last blog. From 1770 we moved on to Tannum Sands (just south of Gladstone) and I would have to say is much better than Gladstone. An excellent place to stop and is probably the best in the area. It has excellent walking and cycling tracks up to Canoe Point and the Botanic Gardens and while here we did a loop drive into Boyne Island, Gladstone and from there to Calliope and Lake Awoonga just to check out all the local places. From there we moved to Rockhampton and spent a day visiting the Capricorn Caves which included a tour of the Cathedral Cave which was interesting, but not the best cave ... read more

Hi travel followers. Well, the time has just flown by with almost three weeks since the last update and a lot has happened since then. From Maroochydore we headed to Rainbow Beach and the famous Fraser Island. Two places that have been on the bucket list for a long time and I must say they did not disappoint us. What a fabulous place to visit and stay. We did roughly a 10km walk along the sand dunes and beachfront to visit the coloured sands of Rainbow Beach and the following day we headed across to Fraser Island where we did the 60 odd km drive along the beach to visit places like the Pinnacles, The wreck of the Maheno and Eli freshwater creek before heading inland to Central Station (old timber cutting area) and Lake Mackenzie ... read more

Hi travel followers. Well, it has been almost another two weeks since the last blog and they just seem to keep racing by. This week we find ourselves at Cotton Tree, Maroochydore on the Qld Sunshine Coast. We thought we would stop here a week or so as there is quite a bit to see in the surrounding area. However, while we were at Chinderah we also decided to do a day trip to the Natural Bridge via Murwillumbah. We had been here at least 30 years ago and so decided we should pay it another visit as it is such a beautiful place. See photos. From Chinderah we spent a night at Miami catching up with an old friend (Maria) of Lyn's from her Air Force days. From there we spent a couple of days ... read more
