Hi travel followers.
Well it is that time for the latest update on our adventures.
While at Rollingstone we had some very spectacular sunrises and visited some of the National Parks on offer including the drive up to Paluma, Little Crystal Creek, Big Crystal Creek and the Frosty Mango. The scenery at Little Crystal Creek is just spectacular and the Camp ground at Big Crystal Creek National Park is definitely worth a stop in the future as well. Worth $11.50 a night. Beautiful spot.
The stop at the Frosty Mango is also mandatory as the Ice Cream is excellent. It was then on to Lucinda via Ingham with a detour/stop over at Jourama Falls National Park.
This is a great little spot and has a great little camp ground that fits caravans. Definitely a spot for the future.
While here we also did an excellent day trip up to Wallaman Falls which included the walk to the “bottom” of the falls and back through the Rainforest. Wallaman Falls are the Tallest “single drop” falls in Australia at over 268m. Absolutly beautifull from all angles.
After a few days at Lucinda and surrounding areas it was
on to Cardwell for 4 days over the Long W/E. I must also add Lucinda is home to the longest Jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. 5.7 kilometres long and actually dips almost 2 meters from end to end due to the curvature of the earth.
This town has been almost totally rejuvenated since being hit by cyclone YASI a few years ago. It now has excellent walking and cycling paths along the foreshore.
While here we did a day trip to Murray Falls where we have camped before with the kids many years ago, but if anything it is much better as it has good facilities including a cold shower, fire pits with firewood and the grounds themselves are excellently maintained and grassed etc.
We then headed for Tully and a picture of the Golden Gum Boot which signifies Tully as the wettest town in Australia and as per this award, “it was raining”. The Golden Gumboot stands "8 meters" tall and represents the year Tully had "7.9 Meters of rainfall in "one year". Tully itself doesn’t appear to have a lot to attract the traveller so we continued on to Mission Beach for a
few days.
It rained most of the time we were here, but we did do some scouting of the area to check out the surrounding beaches etc.
On one of the days we also did the trip up to Mena Creek and visited Paronella Park which is Qld’s No.1 attraction. Very nice indeed and a must do for anyone travelling to North Qld.
From Mission Beach it was then onto Innisfail for another couple of days where we checked out the local beach areas at Etty Bay where we almost ended up a cassowary as a hood ornament on our car, plus we toured the town, and did the short drive up to Florence Falls, which, after a couple of days of rain was absolutely thundering with water travelling down the Gorge.
While in the area we also took advantage of all the roadside fruit stall and stocked up on Paw Paw, Pineapples and Bananas. Yum!!
We have now done the short drive up to the tablelands via Milla Milla, Malanda, Lake Eacham and have now set up camp in Atherton for a week.
Hope you like the photos.

Beautiful sunrises
You two must get up early as you capture a lot of beautiful sunrises. I will have to try and see that long jetty some day. Have fun. X
