Hi travel followers. Well time has slipped away yet again and it is now another three weeks since our last travel update. After two very wet weeks at Alstonville (cyclone Marcia heading down the coast) we moved on to Mullumbimby for another two weeks at my sister Joy's place where "painting" was again strongly on the agenda. I.e. Joy needed her newly purchased Fruit Shop rejuvenated with a total paint strip back and multiple coats of paint applied to the walls and the "4.2 meter" high ceiling. While we were there Joy also needed some muscle to help remove the old refrigeration units (weighing almost a tonne each) and install the new units. We did however manage to get a day off at the end to slip up to Minyon Falls and do the 2hr / ... read more

Hi travel followers. Again another two weeks have passed and as usual we have been on the move ever so slowly up the NSW coast and are now at Alstonville. (between Ballina and Lismore) From Newcastle we moved on to Halliday's Point where a very good friend (Helen) manages the wonderful Beachfront Holiday Park. We had a great couple of days catching up and visiting all the little surrounding towns like Forster etc. Then it was on to Nambucca Heads and the White Albatross Holiday Park where we have stopped a couple of times before because we just love the spot. After a few days we moved on to Yamba and the Calypso Holiday park to visit another friend (Leanne and Mat) for a few days. Yamba is a great little spot and it was great ... read more

Hi travel followers. Nearly two weeks have again disappeared and we reluctantly moved on from Mark and Mel's (plus Tahlee and Kiara) place to Mardi/Wyong and ended up staying two weeks at our great friends "John and Lynn's. It was fantastic to catch up on old times and join Neil and Ros for Ros's 60th birthday. Sorry Ros, I just had to say it. We also caught up with just about all of our Central Coast Happy Camper friends at Chris and Deb's place at Pearl Beach for Australia Day celebrations. See photo. What a great time it was. We will have to see if we can be in the area at the same time next year. We also thought we would take the opportunity to get some medical and dental check-up's done just to make ... read more

Hi travel followers. We just realised it has been yet again more than two weeks since our last update and wonder where the days go. Since our last blog we have moved on from Sunbury/Melbourne and spent a night or two in Berrigan and Gundagai having a great time catching up with old friends and then spent over a week at Mark and Mel's place in Blair Athol (near Campbelltown) catching up with them and soaking up some special Nanny and Poppy time with our two lovely little Granddaughters Tahlee (4 years) and Kiara (2 years). What a delight they are and growing up way too quick. In between "play time" with the two girls I managed to get in a few maintenance jobs around the house like Cleaning out and resealing the floor tile grout, ... read more

Hi travel followers. Would you believe another "two" weeks have passed since the last blog and our time here at the Sunbury labour camp (Just kidding) is coming to an end as we have just about crossed off all the jobs that Ian had on his to do list (see photo). I must say it has been a great time for the both Lyn and I and a great big thanks to Ian and Sharon for having and putting up with us for the last month. I must also say it has been a great opportunity to get back into a certain amount of flexibility and fitness that nothing but good old hard physical work can achieve. Ahhhh. Nothing like concreting, painting, roofing, digging post holes and fencing, chopping down pine trees (14 of them) racking ... read more

Hi travel followers. We just realised it has been "three" weeks since our last blog and thought we had better do an update. After leaving Rochester we spent a couple of days in and around Bendigo before again spending a few days at Castlemaine. Both great places to visit, but we preferred Castlemaine as it is smaller and more traveller friendly. This includes the lovely little towns of Maldon, Hepburn Springs and Daylesford. All very nicely restored and kept historic villages. After Castlemaine we headed for a friends "Ian and Sharon) hobby farm at Sunbury (just north west of Melbourne) where we learnt that retirement can be HARD WORK. I.e. I have been helping Ian excavating, forming and concreting a slab, digging and concreting fence posts, building or extending to the patio awing and then painting ... read more

Hi travel followers. Another week has passed and we have moved yet again to Rochester, Victoria (north of Bendigo), but not before spending a week chilling out at Echuca/Moama. What a lovely place it was on the Murray River bordering Victoria and NSW and watching the many Paddle Steamers travelling up and down the river. You may also be surprised “as were we” that we have officially been retired and on our “Australian Adventure” for our first “YEAR” OR 12 months OR 365 Days, depending on how you look at it. We had to ask ourselves where the time went, until we looked back at where we have been, stayed and the things we have seen. Not a boring day amongst them. For those who may be contemplating a similar trip, I thought I would take ... read more

Hi travel followers. WOW, yet another week has gone by and I wonder where it went. What have we been up to? Well from Berri we crossed the border into Victoria and moved on to Cullulleraine and camped the night beside the lake itself. A great spot with beautiful grassy sites overlooking the willow trees and the lake etc. From there it was Mildura where we stayed for 4 days as the park we picked and the site we had was excellent. I.e. overlooking the Murray River from the NSW side back towards the city and the wharf where the paddle steamers were pulling in to pick up passengers. etc. Plus the weather was great which is always a bonus. While in Mildura we took a couple of excursions out of town to places like Red ... read more

Hi travel followers. Just thought I had better give you an update on our travels and adventures as I just discovered it has been almost 2 weeks since our last blog and a lot has happened. From Port Lincoln we travelled up the east side of the Eyre Peninsular to Cowell via Tumby Bay, Port Neill and Arno Bay. As it was extremely windy and this was Melbourne Cup day, we were looking for a spot to pull up where we could join in with the local activities and most importantly, out of the wind. Cowell ended up being an excellent opportunity as they had a old style pub with a "pig on the spit" lunch for $12 almost beside van park. Also, as this part of the world is renowned for their "oysters" the pub ... read more

Hi travel Followers. Here is the latest on our Australian travel adventures. We now find ourselves set up at Port Lincoln, South Australia on the bottom of the Eyre Peninsular. After leaving Ceduna we stopped off for a night or two at each of Streaky Bay, Venus Bay, Elliston, Coffin Bay and now Port Lincoln. All of these little towns have caravan parks with excellent bay views, but because of this they can be a bit breezy when the wind comes up. Streaky Bay and Venus Bay were our favourites simply because of the coastal walks, drives and views of the Great Australian Bight and cliffs etc. Lyn particularly liked Venus Bay because she came across a friendly Sea Lion on the Jetty and she caught a pretty good sized Flathead off the Jetty which I ... read more
