Hi travel lovers.

Just thought I would keep you up to date on our adventure. We are now in Woomera (Australia's missile testing town) and I can see why it is used for missile testing. I.e. Even if something went wrong with a test, you wouldn't hit or damage anything as it is just wide open flat desolate country for literally hundreds of kilometres. The closest town which we have taken a side trip to is Roxby Downs and the Olympic Dam Mine Site. Roxby Downs is basically a town that was specifically built to house the workers for the mine which is apparently one of the biggest uranium mines in the world, not to mention the copper, silver and gold etc.

Thirty odd kilometres further on is Andamooka who's claim to fame is Opal mining and a bigger contrast between towns could not be found, but we did find Andamooka very interesting as from the photos, it is not the normal town you would come across.

After a couple of days here, tomorrow we expect to be on the move again towards Coober Pedy which is roughly 375 kms away with bugger all in between except a few cattle stations and a little spot called Glendambo which we may stay at just to break the monotonous trip of never ending straight flat roads. The roads are so straight and flat, on our way back from Roxby Downs today, we could see the Woomera water tower from 25kms out. We are however getting our fill of Emus, Roos (road kill) and Wedge tailed Eagles.

Also, the road trains are a whole new experience. I.e. Being overtaken while towing our 15 metre long car and van on the highway at 100kms/hr. by a 3 trailer road train doing 110kms. "It takes a while". see photo.

Hope you enjoy the photos.
