Out of all the towns I've visited in Ireland, Sligo was the one I most wanted to see and its proven to definately be my favourite.. Why? I do not know, there isnt much to see or do here but Im finding myself loving it.. My first night here, I just ate dinner in the comfort of my hotel, after a 10 hour train trip day and having to go all the way back to Dublin, to change stations not only trains! I wasnt in the mood to be doing much, however this proved to be lucky as I got talking to a Polish bartender here in my hotel who offered to show me the sights on Sligo! Yay for me! Proved to be an interesting day, particularly after I had to get up early after ... read more

Im very proud to say I've stuck out my time in my hostel here in Galway and I must say, its nicer than some hotels or B&B's that I've been in! WOuld have no problem recommending this place or staying here again! Started my time in Galway off with a Galway sightseeing bus, gotta love these things as they show you all the sights and tell you a great deal of history to go with it! Went out of a tour today as well to Connemara and Kylemore Abbey... Connemara is a region here in Ireland, no one's really sure where it starts and where it ends but its somewhere here in County Galway and Kylemoore Abbey is an old castle that is now used as a boarding school for girls... Its well and truely hidden ... read more

Like a bunch of cattle, thats how the trainride here felt... Well Im here in Galway now, in a hostel again but this hostel seems so much better than Dublin! For one I have my own private bathroom which is always a plus, also my room is on the 4th floor so should be much quieter, and this hostel has a lift!! Half the hotels.B&B's. guesthouses I've stayed in havent had lifts so that was a pleasant surprise! Only downside is you cant drink the water here in Galway, major scandal and major problems with the water but its not too bad, all the shops are selling bottles of water halfprice so its not too bad.. Train ride to Galway was a nightmare! HAd to perch on my suitcase for 2hours, thats how busy the train ... read more

The only reason I came to limerick and have I heard one?? NO!! haha kidding, I havent heard one but its not the only reason I came... Its another stop on my Irish adventure... Limerick is the 4th biggest city/town here in Ireland after Dublin, Galway and Cork and it has that bigger city feel to it.. Must admit Ive enjoyed the smaller towns better so far, like Kilkenny and Kilarney, just the small town feel.. I dont know what it is... Well here in Limerick I took enough day trip and went to Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and Galway Bay... Bunratty castle, not bad for a castle but ABC..... Cliffs of Moher, stunning! WOrds and photos cannot describe nor do this place justice.. It is just beautiful.. The wind here was ... read more

Well yesterdays tour took me to the Ring of Kerry, was actually supposed to be doing that today and the Dingle yesterday but talk about disorganised! not me the tour company, so I found myself on the Ring of Kerry yesterday with only a "it might go ahead tomorrow" to accompany my wish to go to the Dingle Pennisula. I seriously think I was spoilt in Edinburgh with those tours, every other tour so far has just been disappointing, maybe thats because in Edinburgh I had hot tour guides (kidding hehe) whereas here in ireland they have only been old men haha but so far no tour has matched those two tours taken from Edinburgh.. Anyway the Ring of Kerry, the must see thing here in Co. Kerry as well as a must if you're visiting ... read more

Today was spent on a city tour of Cork and a visit to the City Gaol.. Anyone noticing a theme of jail visits here?? Well I do have a criminolgy degree people! What do you expect?! hah.. One thing that I found out the other day which I find really bizarre is that begging on the streets is legal here in Ireland. I've never seen so many beggars on the street before starting this trip, not just here in Ireland but in England and Scotland, dont know what the laws are there but I just find this unbelievable! Ok and now for my surprise... Well I have big news, a few of you know already but for the rest this will probably come as a shock BUT... Im coming home early! Thats right, I'm now going ... read more

So not as easy as it sounds, the climb up the castle walls is enough to kill you and I tell ya what, I wouldnt have wanted to be much taller or fatter haha... I was struggling for room in those narrow staircases.. Dont know how some of the people around got up there haha.. But lets go back to the beginning.. I arrived in Cork city yesterday which is where Im staying, picked me hotel off the internet and loved what I saw.. Until I got here.. They definately made it sound alot better than it actually is.. Not a bad location when you consider the city centre is just across the river but I got the impression just walking around during the day that its not a place to be out and about at ... read more

Waterford.. So much pretty glass, why does glass have to be expensive and heavy and break?! For those that dont know, Waterford here in Ireland is home to Waterford Crystal, worldfamous for their glassware, they make all the sporting trophys that you see at the tennis and golf and the Ashes cup and their stuff is so beautiful hey, I spent so long in their gift shop wishing I could buy it all but finally deciding on a pair of champagne flutes and white wine glasses, presents to myself for my 21st.. And got them shipped home for free so cant complain about that! My hotel here in Waterford is right on the river and the view is fantastic, not much else really to report from Waterford, main reason for the visit was Waterford Crystal, am ... read more

Thats right, in the small town with 10 internet cafes I am yet to find the Maccas, or the Subway or anything else that seems to spring up on every single street in every other city I've been to so far.. But this is by far the smallest town I've been to so that could explain it.. Also happy to report every pub has Kilkenny on tap! (wow this must be an exciting place! haha) which you would hope so being called Kilkenny and the beer being called Kilkenny and all.. Went and visited Kilkenny castle, could only get access on a guided tour so thats why I did, the tour guides accent was so strong everyone was struggling to understand her, but no it wasnt a strong Irish accent it was a strong Czech or ... read more

Well here I am in Kilkenny, the home of Kilkenny! (the beer, Im assuming anyway, think it was named after a guy called Kilkenny who did something here in ireland but i dunno, and I think its a safe assumption that the beer is sold here, never saw it in Dublin however, weird, cos I remember having it on TAP for a while at the Windsor.. Strange that it wouldnt be here in Ireland, I will have to go looking! but no tasting! cos if its anything like that horrible stuff called Guiness.. YUCK!, ok thats enough about that now I think hehe). Anyway like I said, here I am in Kilkenny, took just under 2 hours by train to get here from Dublin, not too bad and at least it was direct not like some ... read more
