As we come to the end of an era... here is the final bowel shaking update to our already laxative blog. There's been thrills and spills... mostly spills... to be had by all. We've met and outdrank most of our friends... teachers... associates... and those we didn't know previously... moved house and cooked for ourselves for the first time since our arrival (we actually have cooking equipment now). We've been to the Korean equivelent of a hot spring, been around to various cities, had our graduation ceremony, sucked liquids that many would consider impossible to drink... consumed things which barely passed for food, met an irishman and offended passers by with our mere presence. We wish you all a merry April and hope that soon we'll meet face to face and participate in something more productive ... read more

Luang Prabang ... read more

I left Pai yesterday morning and was on the bus the entire day, getting into Bangkok around 10pm. I got a few hours of sleep and then I was on my way to the airport to get my flight to Phnom Penh. I'm pretty tired right now, but am happy to explore this new place. Phnom Penh is a very quiet city compared to Bangkok, which kind of surprised me. They drive on the right side of the road, which is also a little bit of a shock. I did most of the sight-seeing I want to do for the day, so I just need to run some errands and then get a good night's sleep before heading to Siam Reap tomorrow. I'm posting some pictures. Will post again in a couple days. It's great hearing ... read more

Hello everyone and welcome to the lastest enstalment of Jonny's travel blogs, a mediocre literary piece of stunning events!!! The last time I was writing how much I hated Phuket!! Well the hatred never deteriorated from the awful place as that night we went out for a few boys only to have our faces slammed into the seedy world of Thai drinking. Everywhere I looked was the view of European blokes sleezig over a young thai girl; we even saw a few proper lady boys who held no shame to lift up there manly adams apples and female boobs!! Not bootiful! I went home early that night and thought "J sprig sprog you need a change of scenery, your more stale than a loaf of bread"! So the next day I went it alone. The boys ... read more

Hello everyone, Sunday was my day off and sticking to my plan o doing something new and interesting on my days off I decided to check out the onsens in Arima, which is about a 40 minute train ride from Kobe. Many of my students had told me that Arima is famous for its great hot springs and onsens, which are a huge part of Japanese culture. I knew instantly when I boarded the local train bound for the onsen that I was about to have an authentic Japanese experience as the entire train was full of Japanese people, of all ages, anxious to make their way to othe onsens for a day of relaxation. Not really knowing exactly where I was going after getting off the train I simply followed the crowd and eventually I ... read more

blog by Dave & Bronia From Chandigarh our next destination was Goa and it's famous beaches. To get to Goa we booked a cheap internal flight with www.SpiceJet.com from Delhi direct to avoid the otherwise 36+hr train ride which we didn't much fancy. We spent one last night in Delhi in another awfully noisy and grubby hotel with a small temple outside our bedroom window that began morning prayers at 5am with loud chants and the continous clanging of a very large metal bell and chimes. No need for the travel alarm that morning. We were very excited about going south in India, especially after many favourable reports from travellers we'd been meeting along the way who all spoke of a more chilled atmosphere to the north. Goa is a province of India with a coast ... read more

Well I guess I had this coming, I do tend to be a gymp in most situations. I'm having some pretty bad pains in my neck and shoulder, actually i took friday and saturday off because I was having some serious trouble lifting my right arm. Jayakumar seems a little confused about the whole thing, I told him last week that my shoulder was starting to hurt and he said, "wear a jacket in the winter season". Now first of all I do wear my fleece on my scoot to class in the morning, and secondly WINTER SEASON come on I'm Canadian for crying out loud. India in March is not exactly what I'd call winter, it's possibly warmer then most of our summer. Never fear though, I'm being as resourceful as I can possibly be, ... read more

Gisteren met een club zwáár gestoorde Canadezen dingen meegemaakt die in Laos gecensureerd worden, dus een ander verhaaltje: "FADE IN: INT. Hello all. Not too much exciting as happened since we last wrote. It seems our time in Thailand is coming to an end. We had a wonderful time at Mr. Hilary’s. We also got to meet some cool and not so cool people. We meet a couple traveling from Italy, who had nothing but good things to say about India. They traveled there extensively and gave us some good advice about places to visit. We also meet a couple from Canada who drove us up the wall. Enough said! After driving the motorbike with me and Jim and both of our packs, 2 hours going straight down hill, riding the brakes the whole time, I did what I swore I would never do again and got on another Swangthaw. We then headed for Pai. Some people ... read more

(Dave writes) After our last blog entry we got a bus to the border of Northern Thailand and Laos. We crossed the Mekong there and bought our visa before taking a two-day boat trip from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang, with a stop for one night at a village on the way. The boat was packed with backpackers and quite cramped and uncomfortable (most people sit on tiny wooden benches), the scenery was great and we made a few friends on the way so overall it was enjoyable. Luang Prabang is the highlight of Laos for most travellers and we adored it. It's a town predomiantly composed of white French colonial architecture and green palms, with wats scattered around the town and plenty of nice restaurants. It was interesting to see the remnants of French rule ... read more
