After recovering from our huge full moon party experience Pete and I decided to rent motor cycles(sorry mum) and discover more of the island. We quickly learnt a few disturbing things about riding motor bikes on the island. 1. Only about 1/4 of the island's roads are actually asphalt. The rest being dirt, steep and down right dangerous. 2. The maps don't make much sense So with our mid-20's "pffftt as if chicken out" attitude we headed off as fast as we could! Our first stop was Wat Purna - a Budda who was erected approximately 100 years ago (we think, documentation is slim). The funny thing is, we had to turn off the main road, down a dirt track and then down another smaller dirt track to find him. It was like nobody cared about ... read more

Country: Thailand City:Rai Lei- an island with no motor transport We walked a long windy hill that circled around and around to arrive at what felt like the middle of no where surrounded by tall, tall cliffs so hidden if you didnt know it was there you could never guess. I imagine you could only see it from the sky. As the sun went down the lights came on from an out door bar that had only a partial roof (no walls) . The rest of the place ( chairs, tables) was amoung cliffs, grass , trees and plants . It felt as if we were in a movie on a desserted island and I knew I could never explain how surreal it felt. My pictures dont even do it justice. ... read more

Ah Island life.... Zara and I stayed on a small island just north of Koh Samui called Koh Phangan for 4 nights. This was the most laid back part of our trip so far. Our bungalow was directly next to the ocean, so close that when the tide came in at night it was practically at our door step. We opted for the non air con room. With fans and a sea breeze it was pleasant. The only action we saw during these four days was when we rented a moped (motor bike if you’re British) and explored the island. It was quite the experience scooting along rolling hills only wide enough for one car and a motor bike. The rest of the time we enjoyed the beautiful view of our private beach and read some ... read more

We just wanted to let everybody know that the previous days pictures have been updated so be sure and check them out. Well today we are off to Ko Pha Ngan. We have a combo bus boat ticket and we leave at noon. Hopefully this place will be a little less party oriented and a little more culture oriented. And yes today we did go to Starbucks and the coffee was good but a little different. We will try not to repeat this deed but we had to try it once. Till next time. ... read more

Hello All, Sorry we have not updated our journal lately, we are having too much fun to stop and reflect. We are going to skip a few days and tell you about our adventures in the Islands, but we will go back to our last few days in Bangkok at a latter date. We arrived in Ko Samui yesterday after a 12 hour night train ride, where we both had private sleeping bunks, and a 3 hour boat ride. Upon arrival to Ko Samui we had not booked a hotel in hopes that we could find a nice place when we got there. On the boat a man approached us with hotel recommendations and taxi service. Normally we would have told him to move on, since this is a regular occurrence in Thailand, but since the ... read more

We've had this article cued for a long time now - Might as well give it light of day! We stayed on Koh Tau for about 4 nights and went there in order to do a bit of diving. From what I remember this was a bit of a let-down, and far far less professional than diving in Cairns or NZ - quite a bit cheaper as well, but it did show. Anyway I'll stop the negativity but just warn people that if you're going to go diving on Koh Tau you shouldn't expect too much, and from what we saw I wouldn't really recommend it as a place to learn, but it would be a good place to put a few entries in the log-books without having to shell out too much. The island itself ... read more

Hey All, after doing two huge nights in Bangkok it was time for us to head out to the Full Moon party on the island of Ko Pa Ngan which is in the south east of Thailand. We left at 5:30 in the afternoon in a luxury double decker bus and headed over night to Suratthani (a port) then a 2.5 hour boat trip first to Koh Samui where some people got off and then onto Ko Pha Ngan. The bus trip was quite fun as we quickly hooked up with some party animals in the downstairs area and got on the beers! In the "Party Room" we had the four Poms Chris, John, Ally(where are you?) & Natasha. Next we had the Vikings(Danish) with Angry Anna and Charlotta. Finally we had a few other randoms ... read more

Hello!! WOw!! Can't believe how time flies by. Our 1 month adventure with Beach Travellers... Tj & Sara is over!! So sad. Although the last 10 days have been amazing. Hanging out on Hat Yuan beach was probably my favorite of all places. Soo unique. The place where we stayed, Eden Gardens was so great! THe people who worked there became our friends as soon as we got there... the food was the best on the beach and the music... so cool. Loved it. We explored the islands other close beaches, went on a boat tour to a waterfall and went snorkling. Ventured over to Hat Rin for the crazy scene and the unforgetable full moon party..... where else do you party with thousands of other people from all over the world on a beauitful beach ... read more

Hi guys! I'm not too sure how long it has been since we have posted, but I know we are well over due for an update. Since the last post we have attended the Full Moon Party, left Koh Phangen and traveled to Koh Tao. The Full Moon Party was stellar... we went to Haad Rin (the party beach) at about 12:30am, and as soon as we stepped off the boat we were lost in a sea of people. There must have been about 10,000 people on a beach less than kilometer long. Each bar along the beach had super huge speakers so whenever you walked down the beach the music would change from bar to bar. Most of the night I partied on the beach, but when I did go in to the bars, they ... read more
