Right, well now I'm an IMMOBILE hermit (in more ways than one- my mobile is still out of batteries) stuck way out on an obscure cliff at the end of a mile-long, untamed trail through inhospitable jungle. I went snorkelling this morning, which was beautiful until I carved up my feet good and proper on some angry coral. In resignation from the 'Big Day'' I had planned, I hobbled back up my 50-odd steps and decided to spend the rest of the day on my verandah writing songs and listening to music. Not a bad alternative, really- however, round about 1 o'clock I started getting bored of that, and decided to go on a mission after all - despite barely being able to walk - and hiked a good kilometer through more jungle around to Chalok ... read more

Made it to Ko Tao in one piece- just! The last two days have felt like about 2 weeks of torture, delirium and bad curry. Today, though I am feeling the most awake, lucid and alive that I have felt in about... god knows how long! I'm flying solo once again, which is refreshing in a way -said seeya to Pete and Benny on Monday after spending nearly a month on the road with them. I'll be seeing Benny again in Oxford in a week, though which will be tops! I'm currently staying in another "KP14"-style bungalow (see ko pha ngan entries) on top of a cliff overlooking 2 bays. It's absolutely lovely. Had 14 hours sleep last night and spent most of today walking aimlessly around the island, reading and feeling pretty chilled out and ... read more

Sawasdee! Greetings from sunny Phuket! Gold Coast of Southern Asia! The Hotel.... Jon and I are staying at the Merlin Beach Resort, about 5 minutes south of the main beach Patong. Being summer, and the monsoon season, the place is strangely empty. This gorgeous resort has 3 massive pools with surrounding palms, a beach either side to watch for oncoming tsunamis and enough restaurants and bars to keep me fed and jolly for a month! It's amazing how many ways you can use a lychee! We have indulged in room service, yummy curries, afternoon swims and massages on the beach with actual waves crashing instead of a CD playing in the background. Thai massages are a little different from the norm we expect at home - a lot more cracking and pulling of phalanges than I ... read more

We are now in Ko Tao after going from Ko phi phi to Ko Samui and then here. In Ko Phi Phi we went on the snorkelling trip which was absolutely amazing i saw all the fish from finding nemo ( except Nemo himself, of course) and more it was brilliant. We managed to get to 'the beach' after much hassle by climbing through a hole in the rocks with waves crashing at us. We both got cut and bruised, Andys were quite bad. The following day we went on a walk and talk about the tsunami. It was unbelivable what has happened and it really hit home. There is one building that hasnt been touched, it was the staff headquarters of the Cabana hotel ( what was the most upmarket resort on the island). There ... read more

Hello all, Been a while.............. Everything's all gravy here, diving has been fun and my mumma showed up for a week which was cool. Everybody loved her of course and i even had a few upset people when she left. I have decided to leave Koh Tao, I woke up the other morning with a very clear thought in my head that "i'm done here". No real reason as i'm having such a blast but just wanna go see other places. Feeling a little too comftable here so need to move on before i cant. So, gonna head off to a place called railey and learn how to rock climb, cant be that hard ehh?? All I'm waiting for is to sell my bike and i'm off (someone will snap that puppy up in a second). ... read more

Well, we are back in Bangkok, sorta stuck in the internet place as it is totally pouring, and I mean really big amounts of rain. We spent our days on the beach, which was sort of good and bad. Did the really stupid spend 5 hours straight up on the beach the first day, and burnt my back so bad it is on it's second peel. And yes, it still hurts like heck 5 days later. So we headed to Ko Samui on a 12 hour train then 3 hour ferry ride. Whew. Actually, we splurged (again) and went first class on the train. It was 30 bucks and well worth it, after our 3rd class experience, we were up for it. We had booked in at a beautiful place called the Jungle resort. Hmmmm....not great. ... read more

Hello everyone! Just a short hello, we can't send pictures at the moment because we lost our cord for the camera! We have two more nights in Ko Samui and then we fly to Bangkok on Thursday morning, it was fly or take a 16 hour bus and boat ride and we decided to forget that idea! We have done some shopping here and had some nice meals! Tonight we had 2 Chang beers, 1L of water, and a curry dish with rice for under 10dollars. The lady asked us if we like spicy (which we normally do) and let's just say we downed both beers and the whole litre of water in record time! It was so good! Hot! We rented a scooter today and toured around the island, we had an hour massage and ... read more

This was my first time in Thailand, and what can I say. Thailand is like no other place on earth. I spent about two days in Bangkok, which was about as insane as you can get. Koh San Road is a shoppers and hooker paradise. Everything basically closes down at midnight and all the ladyboys come out and pry on foreigners. They will try to steal from you, fight you, do whatever to get your money. All I needed was about two days in Bangkok and I was ready to get the hell out. My friends and I flew down to Koh Samui where we spent the next week. We went snorkeling, rode on elephants, and even saw a Thai traditional boxing match. The beaches were great and the parties greater. ... read more
