Leaving for Ko Pha Ngan tomorrow morning. Back on the road for a day after 2 weeks of chilling.... er... hardly... actually, i really have to settle down! all these late nights have been wearing me out! One last gig at Hippies Bar tonight! I'll have to play better than ever. My excuse for partying tonight will be a.) free bar tab at hippies from playing music b.) it's my last night c.) so that i can stay up until morning and go to the viewpoint to see the sun rise, which is supposed to be spectacular and d.) so that i am tired enough to sleep all day tomorrow so i magically wake up in Ko Pha Ngan! :) not bad excuses really? Last night I watched the sun set here for the first time ... read more

Hello guys, hope you're all well. Well, where do I start.... I'm now a rescue diver which means that I can lift someones fat ass out of the water and onto a boat, sweet. I start my divemaster training soon but to be honest I'm in no rush. I've moved into a more permanent place just up the road from the dive school. I bought a motor bike, best looking bike on the island, every one agrees.... I've also bought all my own dive stuff like mask (not goggles) fins (not flippers) and a cool wetsuite, nice.... Anyways hope you're all Ok after the bombings, i'm sure you are. You're a tough lot.. Keep your comments and emails coming, lovin it....... read more

Today I trained in a different gym from the one I normally train and had a good solid 3 hours there with the trainers. I rather like this new gym because I get 1-1 personal training and the amount of stuff I learn here in a short 1 session is more than what I’ve learnt in the old gym in 2 weeks. But because I’ve paid up my monthly fees, I’m pretty much stucked. If $ was not a issue, I would swap over to this new gym in an instant. If anybody is interested in contacts to this gym, you could just leave me a message and I’ll pass u the details. The lesson was very fruitful as Max, the thai trainer took me through my basics and re-taught me my faulty techniques. I learnt ... read more

The whole bug fiasco got me bothered and irritated and it disrupted my training patterns for 2 days as i took time to relocate to a temporary bunk and finally switiching over to a permanent apartment 3 levels up. i was even forced to go to the hospital to get disinfectant to clean myself. i'm a clean freak and i cant stand the idea of bugs crawling all over me, really. my new apartment is along the highway and the windows are sooooo thin and boy is it really noisy as the trucks and what nots rumble past till the wee hours of the morning. i already moved up so it wnt be nice to change my lodging again. besides, i'm gurannteed no bugs in this new place. the sound aside, the place is much bigger ... read more

OK, so Livejournal sucked... but now I have travelblog, so all is well. Just Finished planting flowers in the Phi Phi Tsunami Memorial garden, while the BBC filmed for some show called Departure Lounge! I decided to take a 'break' and play my uke while they were there, so if it gets on TV- HELLO GLAMOUROUS UKULELE CAREER! :) Pretty tired today actually, I'm just starting to settle down after the customary week and a half-long party binge that people seem to have when they first arrive. Think I'll stick around though. It's a pretty easy place to belong to after a little while. Still playing music at Hippies Bar for 200 Baht a night. Living the dream. Playing music for a living in a tropical paradise island. Ahhh..... :)... read more

There’s still this dull throbbing ache in my left leg that stretches from the knees right to the feet and it stubbornly refuses to go away despite more rest, if this keeps up I’ve got to something about it. It’s not helping in my training and frankly, it worries me.*shrugs* Maybe a foot massage will make it go away…. Last night I had a BUG infestation that almost drove me nuts. 4 days ago, small bugs similar to aphids and about 1/3 the size of ants invaded my toilet and I would wake up every morning to see my toothbrush and toothpaste covered with them. I shrugged it off and killed as many as I could and yesterday when it got a lil nasty, I had the cleaning gal to clean up my room and change ... read more

My legs are sorta an enigma for me. Some days they're feeling all right and there are days my left leg is just protesting with a sharp pain that stretches from the my mid shins downwards to my feet. Though it looks worse, the bruises are getting better, really. Thats great coz it teaches me to block faster to avoid getting hit :) Took my bike to travel to look at the club/pub scene in Samui and all i can say is that it is really designed to do nothing but to seperate the tourist from his dollar. There are all sorta clubs and joints for the different folks out there, be it hip hop, dance or whatever u call "your type" of musik. However the girly bars get a special mention for a extra TURN ... read more

recently i been getting thais of both sexes coming up to me and speaking in thai.... i mean, i know i can blend in well......but i mean, that well? else the most common thing i get is, " hey, u japan ya? japan ya?" but boy was i glad when i rode pass one of the bigger pubs and acutally saw my singapura flag flying high... i actually stopped and threw a salute :D sure feels good to see something familar from back home. there was a new guy at the camp today, Michal frm the States, a cool black guy always ready with a bright smile. when he first asked my name, i replied "david". he went like, "thats ur real name? thats it? i mean u have an english name?" i think some pple ... read more

Hin Da Rock….. known as the Grandfather rock.It is supposed to look like a penis… well I guess if your really horny anything can look like a private part. Thai legend romances with some idea of a suicidal couple that died on this beach, hence the formation of both the female and male genitalia. I tried hard to locate the female version but I couldn’t have enough of an imagination….or it might just be i’m used to my own part :) however the constant breeze made it a relaxing place to be and I spent 45 mins there even without realizing. Chanced upon a “Samui mountain village” The ride up was demanding on the bike and many a times I thought it would fail. When I say its steep, its freaking steep. When I got to ... read more

Well, we arrived in Phuket on 28th June. After bartering for a taxi from the airport for ages we arrived in a place called Kata Beach. This is south of Patong, the party capital of Phuket. We thought we should stay somewhere quieter as we still weren't feeling 100%. It turned out that we made the right decision. When we turned up we were at a 4 star resort !! It only cost 700 baht a night. There were probably only about another 10 people staying in this hotel. We were told that this area of Phuket hadn't recovered much tourism since the Tsunami and this was the reason why the hotel was so cheap. A shame really, as Phuket was a really nice place and the people were very friendly and helpful. We werent used ... read more
