It's been about a week since there was a "revolution" in the capital city of Thailand, Bangkok. Every one I talked to at home sounded a little worried. It is nothing to be worried about. Nothing has, or will, happen since the event. No one was hurt and the Thai people are in general celebration. The weekend after this event school ended for me as mid-terms are coming around. While I am happy to have an opportunity to look around Krabi properly, I am a little sad to be missing Mauy Thai training for the month I am out of school. On the upside over the weekend i got to meet some of the Exchange students in Phuket (a two hour drive away from Krabi). When coun Paw decided we were going to Phuket to change ... read more

Happy Birthday to me, yes I'm 30 years old today, sadly I have come down with Tonsilitus so I will not be doing anything remotely festive, and am all alone and generally pretty pissed off, still at least i have a good hotel room and well at least I have a good hotel room, will give it 2 days on the pills before i would have to go to doctor for an injection. Had a good time for a couple of nights on Rah Lai beach, had a rustic bungalow again, had one wild night out, but my second night was suffering from sore throat and being kept awake by a concert next door until 5am. Hotfooted the next morning back to Ao Nang, and this is where I'll stay until feeling better, could not face ... read more

We got back into Thailand, 30 more days on the passport, and headed over to some town I can't even remember for a stopover, said goodbye to two of our group then who have to go home, then we moved on to Krabi again and headed over to the beach spot of Ao Nang, if only to take advantage of a low seasoned priced nice hotel, had a good old time including some quality Kayaking out in the sea around the pretty little stacks that shoot up out of the water (James Bond Island type things) Rhian left us yesterday to go to Australia, so just Rick and I now, so seems a bit quiet until we pick up the next unwitting people to travel with. Have been following the news in Bangkok with a certain ... read more

Finally arrived in Bangkok at 6am with three hours to kill before catching a flight down to Krabi for some beach time. I was actually very well behaved on the flight didnt even annoy Hinda once which for me you could guess was quite an achivement. Anyhow the following day we (read I) thought it would be a novel idea to kayak out to the island in the picture thinking it would be an easy 3 maybe 4km paddle turned out it was more like 9-10km after talking to the localsa later so it turns out were not very good at estimating distances on water. So after paddling for a a few hours we made it out there and it was well worth it as you can see clear water and nice sandy beach. Only one ... read more

Amy here, It has been a few days since our last entry on this blog as we have had a pretty busy schedule after arriving back in Bangkok. 6 off us from the up north group have now joined forces with 6 more new travellers and with a new guide, we have begun the second leg of our journey. So here goes with a longer post than usual. We celebrated out last night in Bangkok with good food and drink and ended up in an Irish pub on Khao Sang Road. The place was filled with locals and travellers all having an awesome time. There was also a live band playing there everynight, covering many English songs - especially the Chili Peppers! Can't remember if we have mentioned it before or not but the Lead singer ... read more

So I’ve been in Thailand for about 3 weeks. Every one I had met before I came here said "it's beautiful, it's nice and so on" but no one can actually tell how beautiful or perfect Thailand is. It is an experience that must be lived through not told about. When I arrived it had been a long trip. And I was tired. (to put it lightly) I was also a little afraid. This is because the airline had lost my biggest suit case and no one could do anything about it. When I arrived in Bangkok I had not been aware that the rest of my luggage was being checked. So without any one able to actually translate I ended up (briefly) thinking that the rest of my bags were gone. That was my moment ... read more

We depart from Phuket from 7.15am by land to Ao Nang which cost us 400 THB each..phew.. and this was the beginning of a very very long transfer... First the mini bus head to Karon beach and pickup a couple from Singapore and initially we were told that only 4 of us in the bus which didn't happen... then the bus head to Kata beach and pickup a guy from Canada, after that we head strainght to Phuket Town and pick up another 4 people ( 2 girls & 3 guys from US ). So in total how many do we have: 4+2+1+5 = 12 people in a mini bus .. ( oh my god ) by the time that he pickup everyone it was around 9.30am already. Then half way the driver stop and drop ... read more

We have been in Krabi since Saturday after we did our visa run to Burma. Gump if you read this you need to do a visa run aswell or you'll be fined. We have paid for a weeks accomodation in Krabi where we wanted to save some money by lying on the beach all day. We've had rain every day since we got here. Instead we went to a local gun range up the road from us. We all had a go on a shotgun, 9mm and a .357 magnum. (the guns wern't loaded when we were pratting around.) It was one of the best things we've done since getting here. The magnum and shotgun gives a big kick when you fire them and were well loud. The next day we went for a traditional thai ... read more

We left beautiful Phi Phi for Krabi we even got to watch The Beach on the boat - again! Once at Krabi port we had to decide whether to go to Railay beach or Ao Nang, we chose the latter on account of it being cheaper. The taxi driver took us to a few guesthouses and bungalows but they were quite run down so we asked to be dropped in town and we would find our own place and we were so glad we did. We went into the first place we saw but were told the rooms were 750 bht a night, we managed to get them down to 550bht and then went to see the room. It was amazing, just like a 4star hotel room back home, the bathroom was very clean and had ... read more
