On the first day at Krabi (4th June), my husband and I were brought to Tiger Cave temple in a city tour. I was fascinated with Tiger Cave temple and its surrounding. Tee, our tourguide, told us that this temple was founded by an Abbot many years ago. It was named as such because of a tiger he saw when he arrived at the cave. The cave has now become part of the temple. We soon realised that the surrounding of the place was very quiet and there were a few smaller caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites at the back of the temple. This place was really ideal for anyone to do his/her meditation. We went snorkelling today (5th June). It was my first attempt at this sea-sport but I was nearly drowned. When my ... read more

Our friend Susie joined Mike and the two of us for a few days at the beach in southern Thailand. We stayed at West Railay Beach which is on a peninsula that is accessed only by boat, giving it the feel of a remote island. From there we took boat rides around the crystal-clear blue ocean waters, stopping off at islands with white sandy beaches and steep limestone cliffs (one of the islands was where "The Beach" was filmed). We took a shot at rock climbing on Thailand's world-reknowned routes, where Susie tried to re-teach us everything she knows. Although we were a bit out of shape,we managed our way to the top of a few climbs. We enjoyed more massages and beautiful sunsets, swimming in the ocean and relaxing by the pool. We even found ... read more

Well what can we say..... Another beach - with lots of Tsunami evacuation signs!!!!! Accomodation was different again!! We had to be careful where we walked as the whole floor bent and we were a good storey above the ground!! Slightly worrying at times - especially when the cats living below our bungalow wouldn't even walk on some areas!!!!! But what the room lacked the staff made up for. They were all really nice and helpful and could even sing a Bob Marley song or two!!!!!!!! Didn't get up to much as tired from the jungle trip and treppidation after finding out our bus trip to Singapore would be 24 hours (not 12 as we were told when we booked it!!) So, I (J) did what I normally do and headed off into the town for ... read more

Days 173-176 We got a boat over to Krabi and jumped on a bus to Ao Nang, a beach resort. We had no idea where we were when we got off the bus so went to an internet cafe to find somewhere to stay near where the girls would be staying. Luckily we were right by their hotel and checked into the one next to it. Ao Nang is very touristy but it was nice to be somewhere with a buzz after being on quiet beaches for the last month. We had a look around town, had some lunch and Stuart had a thai massage. We went to a bar to wait for the girls to arrive then we all went out for drinks and dinner. We booked a kayaking trip for the next day before ... read more

3rd mar Mooooooooooooooooooooo. This was my alarm and with my hangover i wasn't impressed at Carsons morning wake up call. Once again we slept in and i was pretty hung over. Trying to wake up, focus and quickly pack, was hard enough but i also had Steph yelling out to me from her room across the hall, trying to have a conversation with me about who knows what!!! Crazy hung over lady. We checked out then headed to an Italian restaurant for brekky (just for something different) where steph asked if she could have rice - in an Italian restaurant!!! Carson and i just looked at each other thinking "you damn American". We then got a swangi to Ao Nang where at first we weren't going to stay as it was highly touristy but changed our ... read more

We flew into Phuket (a more popular and developed tourist destination) because we had a plan to take the bus from Phuket to Krabi, a place recommended to us by another friend who had just been there. I had read a few times on the internet about how beautiful the drive is from Phuket to Krabi and it was worth the view to take the bus instead of just flying into Krabi. I had read this more than once on the internet boards so figured it was a good bet, but you can’t always believe what you read. The Phuket airport was crazy; so many tourists everywhere and (it seemed) an equal amount of Thai people trying to round them up or entice them into using their tourist service. With very few signs, we finally ... read more

Have a day to spare in Bangkok? Not really feeling the joy of the busy streets and wishing for a change of scenery? Well, a day trip to Krabi should suffice then. To the dismay of all the climate compensators out there, I decided to spend my last day in town out of town and headed over to Don Muang airport with a same day return ticket to Krabi Airport. I had absolutely no idea what to expect but had taken great care to book with different airlines which I were really eager to inspect. Come to think of it, I was probably more interested in the planes than in Krabi. Anyway, rise and shine for an early morning flight out of Don Muang on a cute little mutli-coloured ERJ-135 belonging to the solemny sleeping PB ... read more
