It was certainly nice to arrive back into Mumbai again after our visit to Aurangabad. Mumbai looks and feels like a proper, functioning city. There are wide avenues lined with grand, handsome buildings. There are pavements and crossing points. There are shops, cafes and green spaces. There are police who actually seem to have some authority. But best of all there is sense that the people here have something to do and somewhere to be. Mumbai is the first city in India where we can move about unmolested. We arrived into CST about 8:30 am and set off in the direction of our hostel. About halfway on our 40 min trek south we paused at Starbucks for a coffee and some breakfast. On reaching our hostel (the backpacking panda) we found a friendly and helpful receptionist, ... read more

I was dreading the 6 hours we had as a stop over between Goa and Aurangabad in Mumbai. Partly because there’s not much you can do with heavy backpacks and partly because we had been chatting to a pleasant American on the bus to the station in Goa who was saying how crowded, busy and overwhelming it was. Our train from Goa was delayed by over an hour so we didn’t arrive into Mumbai until 1120 (as oppose to 10am). Our next train was at 1635 from the same station - Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (originally Victoria Terminus), itself a world heritage sight. There are 18 platforms here and as we struggled against the crowds to get out we managed to find the booking hall - part of the original building. It is stunning, with granite columns, ... read more

I have been living in Mumbai since long time and every weekend or on holiday I try to make trip around Mumbai if not traveling out of city. Below are my top picks from the city to make the best out of your weekends. Our recommendations of the places to visit within the city: Marine Drive; preferable to visit early in morning or after evening till late night. Visit Gateway of India. If time permits, book a sailing ride in evening during sunset for an unforgettable experience. Take a cab or drive through Worli Sea link. Spend a day in Essel world; they have some of the amazing and thrilling rides and water activities, perfect for a day-out with friends or family. ... read more

Travelling is not just about ticking your passport with visas but actually living in a city where you have never been to!!!! This is what I did in my trip to Australia in January 2018. I was accompanying my husband for an official workshop in Sydney and we decided to stay only in Sydney for the entire duration. After checking out a lot of itineraries online, I decided to plan my own chilled out vacation without any plans. I received my visa just one day prior to the journey which caused a lot of stress and last moment rush. So as soon as I reached Sydney, I decided to spend the first two days relaxing and enjoying a much-needed SPA, unwinding after a stress journey and adjusting to the time zone as Australia is five hrs ... read more

BOOK OF A BRAVE KID Hello friends my name is Peter Smith and I am 10 years old and this is not a book it’s a diary. Mom was always loving me till Ralf came. Ralf is my little brother who is very naughty but everyone thinks he is calm and caring. This is not fair when you are a stinky pair of socks. Early start, woken by the shrill alarm clock, ugh. Breakfast coffee, mango juice and a cake I bought from the hotel pastry shop last night, for breakfast. Then down to reception, checked out and into our 7.30 am waiting taxi. At Mumbai airport we were well on time for our flight and goodbye to India and an incredibly wonderful holiday. Can't take Indian currency home so had an enjoyable time spending our spare change in one of the nice tourist gift shops then onto our plane and up and away we went. Short 3+ hour flight to Dubai, then the longer 7 hour leg to Manchester and home. Quite uncomfortable by the time we landed, and by the time we were home, having been picked up by Jane, Bob's daughter, was really pleased to be there. ... read more
