Markus had to fly back home after our visit to Agra because of some work related projects. He planned to be at home for 2 weeks before coming back to India. As I was flexible with my work (a laptop is enough to work for me), I had decided to stay in India for a much needed relaxing time. For quite a while I was looking for a beach spot to make nice walks at the beach without being stared at by random men sitting in bushes and doing.... well, if you have read my blogs from Kerala you probably know what I mean. So I decided to come to Goa this year. But where to go in Goa when you need a quiet place without party, without drinking, without beach hawkers. It took me a ... read more

Geo: 15.0419, 73.985India! Round two. Back to where Anna and I met! This time would be different and more special. We had a month in India so we decided to explore the south. Our first point of call was Goa. Goa is actually the state name and there are plenty of beaches in the north and south. We decided on Agonda Beach in the south. There is plenty of accommodation along the beach which is two kilometres long, quiet and relaxing. It was a couple of weeks from peak season so it was very quiet and deserted almost. The following morning we did a boat tour to visit a few beaches and dolphins. We were disappointed with the trip as the beaches weren't anything special. We did see some dolphins which was really exciting. T he ... read more

The train from Kochi to Goa was another great experience. On this route I didn't even have to get out of the train to get food and chai. A company called 'Meals on wheels' walked through the aisles offering meals and drinks all throughout the journey. I got the top bunk along the aisle, so I spend the vast majority of the 17-hour train ride up there. At the hostel I had found a little book on my new hobby: Yoga. So I spend some time reading that, took a nap, read the eBook on my phone and ate some food before it was time to go to sleep. :) When we got to the train station I asked someone if he knew how to get to Anjuna. He didn't know, but he had met ... read more

GOA This place has got some charm and addiction too. I have almost visited Goa for more than 10-12 times still never get bored of this place. Here the bike ride also give us joy. I don't want to reach any destination, just want to roam around everywhere. Here the churches are so beautiful specially THE BASILICA OF BOM JESUS in Old Goa. It is such a beautiful heritage. The BAGA Beach is one more beautiful spot that every tourist must go. The Panjim city, which is also the capital of Goa,is so beautiful, even the buildings and offices are so colorful here that no body want to get back to their places. Goa is so peaceful. I LOVE GOA. GOA IS LIKE HEAVEN FOR ME. Everyone must visit GOA atleast once in their life. Hence I'm ... read more

Sat in a beachside bar, catching up with blogs, an overwhelming feeling of happiness built up in my stomach. I don’t ever want to go home we thought to ourselves. Why is it that the beach does something to us? You soon become relaxed and you just feel really good. In some ways it is almost therapeutic just being there. Well for us that is how we felt sitting on Anjuna beach in Goa. Looking out onto the amazing blue skies, the sun shining brightly although you dare not look at it as it you would momentarily lose your vision. Instead you smile at its beautiful reflection or stream of crystal light sparkling in the sea seemingly moving all the way towards you. We sat there simply watching the waves furiously crashing into each other, making ... read more

Dudhsagar falls is among the tallest waterfalls in India and is said to be a visual treat. Thus, it had been in my travel list from quite some time (from my college days itself where it kept getting postponed). So this time around, when Vivek suggested that we go for it, I jumped at the opportunity to go there (though he had to back out). A few more people from my office joined me. Sulbha who always has issues finding company to travel with, surprisingly convinced her then flatmate Nidhi to accompany her. This was their first trek ever and little did they know that treks were not beds of roses. We had registered for the trek through Hyderabad Adventure & Trekker's club (HATS) club and we reached the railway station at about 9 pm after ... read more

This trip was my fourth time to go to beautiful GOA. I have visited Agra, home of Taj Mahal.....Nainnital, a mountainous region with breathtaking views and of course, Delhi, the country's capital with its many glorious fragrances of Sandalwood and Rose as we passed side streets in the downtown area. After a while, you will become accustomed to the horns blowing and the region's wonderful music playing in the distant as we passed in our rickshaws. But this new venture, Goa, was a whole new ballgame. We flew from Delhi to Goa in a 3 1/2 hour flight. The clouds were awesome as we headed to Goa with turbulence along the way and noisy Indians laughing and blocking the aisles as the flight attendants made their ways to thirsty guests. One thrill that we both had ... read more

I have had many happy years in my life where I experienced adventure, love, growth, happiness, friendship… 32 was not one of them! I did in fact experience all of those things in this year alone, but what forces this year off the list of happiest times is the emotional and physical turmoil that overpowered all the good. If you’re interested, I will share my story with you. It was a cold, rainy winter day… hahaha just kidding. Seriously, here it goes. I turned 32 in Dharamkot, my favorite place to be in the world, especially in April. It’s the only place I can always find peace and this year I even managed to stick to a healthy schedule waking up at 6:00 and eating only the healthy food I cooked for myself. I was nearing ... read more

We now have only a few days left of our adventure. The trip has been wonderful,we have seen so many fantastic and varied places, and met so many many nice people (and only a small handful of not so nice!)......but we are looking forward to getting home to see friends and family again. This last stop in Goa is really a holiday to recover from our holiday. We have almost 2 weeks to play about in the sea, lounge about in the shade, have massages and generally have a relaxing time in one place. Goa is quite unlike other places we have visited in India so far. This is hardly surprising because the country is so big (over 30 hours train ride here from Delhi), and because Goa is distinct in having been occupied by the ... read more
