I've lost count of the times I have been to Goa but each time I desire to unwind and let my hair down, I know I'd end at this coastal paradise. Miles and miles of golden sun kissed beaches fringed by coconut palm trees lapped by the waves of the sea, it seems like God created a tiny image of Heaven on earth. Over the years I've known that the true experience of Goa can be enjoyed by spending the day lazing on the beach till the sun sets and frolicking through the night at open air pubs. I would ideally love to have the airport closer to North Goa, the hour long trip makes me impatient. The entire journey from the airport to my resort makes me ponder on the stark difference between Mumbai and ... read more

Thought we would change beaches for a bit. Hindsight, wish we didn't. Condolim in north Goa was much more resort-ish. Rented a moped for a couple days and took off to northern tip of Goa. Great drive, nice beaches and hot weather. Not too bad. Went to Anjuna's famous wednesday market. Bought up the place, bartering our asses off! Was smokin hot. Went to OldGoa for a bit as well. ... read more

We read in our "Lonely Planet" that the off season for Goa ends in September, with cessation of endless rain during the monsoons. I can personally attest that Lonely Planet is incorrect. The off season definitely extends into October. A couple days ago we took a long (14 hour) train from Mumbai to Goa, opting for the day-time train so that we could see the beautiful scenery between those two destinations. From what I could see through my incredibly tiny window that was heavily tainted yellow, the land was quite lush (most likely from the recent monsoons), with many rivers and hills. We snacked on 20 cent snacks and lazed away the day reading books or writing in our journals. The next day we decided to try to take a bus 10 miles north to our ... read more

This was April 2004. We called up Denzel from Bangalore and asked him if there were cottages available in his resort. Made a quick reservation and then threw in the dogs - and drove all the way to Goa. The cottages / tents are incredible. Set at the point where the creek meets the sea - this location is a 150 steps from the beach and the breeze is incredible. Again, a vacation with nothing to do - just great people and incredible views of the sea. For the pets - the folks at Aseascape made food for my dogs. You can do the usual tourist stuff as well - drive out to Titos and dance by the sea. I did none of that - sat back and watched the Sun set several times. Thats all. ... read more

Sorry, I did say I wasn't going to add anything but I had to part with this little gem. Whilst having breakfast - heinz beans on toast (!) - we were joined by our usual band of acquaintences of chameleons, butterflies and assorted birdlife. However today not contect with seeing just two juvenile sea eagles we were treated to a full sized adult flying directly towards us with a snake in its talons. We sat there along with the staff absolutley dumbstruck at the size of both predator and prey. The eagle not content with just flying off in one direction, came back after a few minutes and gave us all another wonderful view. Absolutely stunning!! Ah well back to the pool!!... read more

Woke up a little after 6:00am to get ready for the days outing, our driver will be here around 9:00am. My foot still hurts when I walk. Still have to limp but pain is bearable if I walk real slow. The redness in my eyes seems to be clearing up today. Prem’s cough is under control as well. Had breakfast at a coffee shop a block away, just simple toast and jam with some south Indian filtered coffee. Meanwhile we made some calls to change our flight back to Mumbai which was scheduled for 16 Apr to 17 Apr just so we are not in a rush all the time. Our driver was prompt, at 9:00am. First we headed to an area called Old Goa to see The Basilica of Bom Jesus, meaning “Good Jesus” in ... read more

This is my first travel blog ever. You can say, I am new to the community, but I hope to be doing this often from now. I wanna start with my latest visit to Goa which has always been "MY HAPPY PLACE". If you havent visted the place yet, you should. Its a great place to blow off steam. This time, as usual, the trip was totally unplanned. Started with Anjuna. It took me some time to locate my friends (coz i was late). I kept searching for them at the rocky beach, while they were busy sipping on King's ( a Goan Beer) at the sandy beach right adjacent. As soon as I arrived, I was treated with a King's too. I usually dont have this beer unles I am in Goa, but since it ... read more

Coming to the end of our holiday now only 11 more days to go but lots to do. Going down to south Goa to visit Palolem and Agonda next week and have loads of dinner parties to attend. Weather very hot and humid, we even had a spot of rain last night. Suffering a bit with the sun, its difficult to believe but I have bad sunburn on my knuckles and my toes!!! Also starting to yearn for English food-I must have had just about every type of curry, Indian Chinese, Thai and Goan over the last few months-oh how I year for a pork pie!~!~... read more

Our host in the beach shack we use is a man mountain called Diva. He is about 6ft tall and must weigh 16stone without an ounce of fat on him. I jokingly squared up to him and we got talking about boxing. It seems he was middleweight Karate champion of India for a few years. When I came up the beach the other day carrying 5 rolled up towels he playfully thumped the towels and I fell to the floor winded and unable to breath. I got up and wacked him but managed to hurt my hand-don't get me wrong he's a great bloke but does not know his own strength, he has also got the most piercing black eyes and just looking at him sends ripples of fear running through most people. I am glad ... read more
