Hello to the few who look at this, and apologies for the lack of updates and this skimpy one! Left pushkar, trained it back to Delhi, spent couple of days with Barry looking about, then got ill and spent three days in bed being decrepid. Deciding that i was useless to barry i flew down south to goa and i’m enjoying a proper room, sun, pool and hopefully sand tomorrow too! Going to stay till i recover, which naint going well, for starters i’ve now got a coughh and also mauled my toe so i’m hobbling now after doing a drunken cartwheel! Should mention i’m here with my parents, their friends graham chris and simon, and Annika! I’ll write more when i’m back in a big city where going to a cyber cafe is relaxing and ... read more

Hey Leute!

Now where was I? Oh yeah, Benaulim - been a bit lax just lately, call it the Goa effect. Highlight of this part of our journey had to be the arrival of Kiera for a week, so little time, so much to show her. First morning went on the dolphin boat - sailed out away from the shore bout a quarter mile and there they were, a school sliding in and out of the waves around us feeding - only 5 of us in the boat, our captain suggested getting in amongst them in the ocean - I declined as I swim like a brick and just know there's a shark waiting out there for me, Kiera and Ken leapt at the chance literally, diving into the ocean in pursuit of swimming with dolphins... the animals ... read more

Erratum:- My proof reader, aka Ken, advises that Kerala, not Goa, is known as God's Own Country'. So apologies, a rose by any other name etc. Don't want the comment box getting clogged up unnecessarily. Wish hubby was as good at spotting my spelling mistakes, which are legion... Quiet day yesterday, told about a less frequented area, Johny Fishersman's beach, 50R rickshaw ride from Benaulim village, so hied off to investigate - white sand, good surf, shallow water, far from the madding crowd with a funky Beatle-themed beach shack cafe to chill in. We'll be back....for once didn't take mobile, no phone in cafe, so had to walk back - after midday the sun is merciless and effectively fries the brains, took a while to recover from that mistake (we're not looking for sympathy here). Went ... read more

Evening, It's Wednesday 13th Feb in India. Just to avoid confusion! Just a shorter entry this time since we've pretty much been doing the same all week-beach stuff!! After writing my last blog entry we had dinner on the beach while watching the most amazing sunset-every day its beautiful as you literally see the sun disappear in sections till there is nothing left. After that we returned to our shack balcony to write in our journals- we are so on top of the keeping memoirs-for now-when everylight in the entire beachfront and village went out!! After about 10minutes of sitting in the dark i decided to investiagate so went to ask the hotel(shack) managers (people who work there) and there laid back response was.....sometimes its a minute sometimes its an hour!! taking back with me some ... read more

Hello, Panjim, capital of Goa, is SUCH an expensive place - and we had to fork out 40 pounds for one room for one night!!!! Never going back there again! After the ailine broke my bag is had been mega uncomfortable to carry and i am going to complain (maybe!). We have now given up hvaing three meals per day and only have two because of the cost and also I have been ill and so most of the time do not feel like eating! The afternoon in Panjim consisted of a trip to the ATM (to get out the millions we owed for the room!!!) and tea on the terrace - I have never woken up feeling so hungry!!!! Also there was much compaining about the cost etc in Panjim! We checked out at 9 ... read more

Dear all, Jaipur's luxury seems like years ago with its hot showers and comfortable beds! On our last day we went through the Bezar's and to a place called LMB for "lunch" - however we just had a selection of desserts which I fear may have been the reason I was ill the next day! I was very embarressed when it came to the bill as Sophie had gone to the loo leaving her ripped 500R bill on the table - which they said (VERY LOUDLY) they wouldnt except. I could have died of embarressment and quickly handed over wads off cash to compensate! We then rickshawed it to the palace and to the fort, both beautiful. The fort was ages awa (I had previously mentioned we should walk it - however upon seeing the dust ... read more

We left Munnar on 15th January and have spent the last few weeks in Goa. Our arrangements to leave Munnar had a very Indian quality about them. We usually had breakfast at a small restauarnt close to where we were staying, where you could get a good south indian fry up for two for about GBP1.50. We had befriended one of the waiters and one morning he started asking us how long we would be staying. We told him we were moving on to Goa in a few days. He then wanted to know how we would get there. We told him by train from Ernakalum. This was the crucial information for him - of course we would need a taxi to Ernakulum (a distance of about 40 km) and he had a taxi business so ... read more

Hello Hello, This is my second attempt at writing this after i lost the first lot when someone changed something! Anyway from where i left you-in luxury- we have been busy crossing the country! After updating our blogs and having relaxing showers we headed out to see the sights of jaipur. What we hadnt noticed was the different scales of our maps relative to other towns, so after ages on foot and appearing to make no progress coupled with the plethora of cars(major industrialised city) we gave in to the rickshaws. First we headed to the palace which was made out of sandstone and marble all of which glistened in the early evening sunlight! Upon seeing a fort in the distance, the tiger fort, we decided to head up there to see the so-called pink city ... read more

Hello again, everyone. Hope all is well at home. We are currently in Benaulim in central Goa and, according to the papers, are in the middle of an unseasonable cold spell. The night temperatures have been as low as 17 degrees!!!! At least it stays above 30 during the days. Prior to this icebox we were in Bangalore. We had arrived on the morning train from Hyderabad and since we had the time, we ended up cancelling our tickets to Hampi as it was proving to be quite difficult to leave to be in Goa for our previously booked hotel. We arrived at the Golden Palms well before check-in but found we only had to wait a few minutes for our room. This was great as the day was hot and the Golden Palms claims to ... read more
