Reply to this Cape Town is amazing - and I really liked Glasgow, I think for the beautiful atmosphere more than the physical beauty.
Reply to this Hello Macke 😊
I cant possibly choose on in particular to be the most beautiful.
There are so many beautiful ones, but the one that comes to mind right now is Venice.

Reply to this I live in Sydney

VENICE and PARIS!!
Reply to this Oh and LHASA, TIBET
the POTALA PALACE and the SPIRITUALITY & PURITY
(When HH Dalai Lama resided over his people, there would have been no City on earth like it!!)
just MHO
Reply to this Cape Town without a doubt. I thought Sydney, Rio and San Francisco paled in comparison. London somebody said - I have never been to an uglier city. Cars, pollution, dirt and miserable people. All the houses look like they were designed by one guy and stuck together. He must have liked the design because he really went crazy with it.
Reply to this any city can give this sceen?
of course not
istanbul is the most beautiful city
Reply to this Im from sydney australia, and i'v traveled all around europe, africa, asian and america, and i still havnt found a city as beautiful as my own sydney. Reply to this nothing can beat New York City. but i would absolutely love to go to Paris.
Reply to this Charleston, South Carolina. The cobblestone streets. The historic feel. The peacefulness. The serenity. The coast. Kiawah Island.
Love it.
Reply to this Of what I've seen so far, I'd choose:
- Firenze/Florence, Italy
- London, England
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Reply to this The most beautiful city I have ever been to is Florence, Italy...absolutely astounding architecture and history, lots to do, good food, nightlife and good for young, old or families. Puts Rome to shame, soooo much cleaner.
Reply to this Nice to see Glasgow mentioned by someone, I was brought up in Glasgow and lived nearby for 20 years and thought it was the ugliest place ever! Great people mind you. I went back to visit about 15 years later and was actually impressed with the beauty of many old Victorian buildings (it was the 2nd city of the British Empire after all), wonderful parks and lots of regeneration following the closure of the ship building and heavy industry.
However, Edinburgh is my choice of most beautiful city in UK (although I also like London).
Most people here seem to mention Rio, Sydney and Cape Town. Unfortunately I've never been to Rio or Cape Town, but I have been to Sydney. Sydney is not the best in my opinion, as the city itself is pretty ordinary. It relies on the harbour which is admittedly world class. I didn't find the people friendly, although others seem to have had a more positive experience. A lot of my judgements are influenced on my feelings/experience of the place at the time and are probably not very objective.
Prague was raining all the time I was there, so I'm marking it down!
Florence was incredible for sheer history and art packed into a small place.
Potosi in Bolivia was impressive as the highest city in the world and once the 2nd city of the Spanish Empire.
Rome, for similar reasons to Florence.
Paris was raining!
Buenos Aires is nowhere near the nicest in the world although I did like the place.
Singapore I loved (but that may be because I had just spent 4 weeks in India).
Toronto is also nowhere.
Cusco in Peru is stunning.
Antigua in Guatemala is great as is Antigua in Cuba (but I think it may be a town).
My final choice for most beautiful city I've been to is......Edinburgh, based on the sheer variety of weather you get there!
Reply to this We can debate a lot on the subject.
I wouldn't say you can pick up a certain city and declare it "the most beautiful"... it's so subjective!
It depends on what you consider to be beautiful. Some of us admire modern architecture, others on the contrary, old buildings, palaces, gardens etc. Then there are cities which show their best during a certain time of a year... what would be, let's say a sea resort during winter?
I myself look for small cities, with narrow streets, old architecture... From this point of view, here there are 3 examples: Venice/Italy.... Firgas/Gran Canaria/Spain ....Sighisoara/Romania...
Reply to this I have not been to every city - but I have been to many of the ones frequently raised here including San Francisco, London , Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Rome etc.
and I find Cape Town far in a way the most beautiful city on Earth. By far! Rio and Sydney are the other two that I think are gorgeous, but they are in distant 2nd and 3rd spots. I also found it more vibey than Sydney, not less!
In Europe, Rome and Paris arre of course lovely. Prague, Edinburgh and Istanbul are gorgeous too.
