Bond Family - A Bond

A Bond With a name like Bond we couldn't resist the chance to have a global adventure. After 21 years in the corporate world "A" decided it was time to make a change and take a life-changing trip. It only took "J" and the girls...oh 2 seconds to agree! What follows is the story of what happens when two 40 somethings and their two daughters sale the house, find a babysitter for the pets and take off for the adventure of a lifetime. We think it will be a great "Bonding" experience! We promise to keep you updated.

And now for the final installment of our Mother/Daughter Summer 2006 Trip. If you ever want to see the July 4th firework show at Mount Rushmore you must be willing to spend a long time waiting. While we were waiting we enjoyed listening to several wonderful music groups. One of our favorites was a Native American Band named Brulee. We also spent time enjoying the museum and film about the building of Mount Rushmore. We arrived at 9 am and left the park around midnight. The fireworks were spectacular, really worth the wait...it was the highlight of our whole trip!! The next [View Full Entry]

And now to continue our time travel trip from Summer 2006. On September 24, 1906 President Theodore Roosevelt declared Devils Tower to be America's first national monument. The Devils Tower seems to rise on the Wyoming horizon from nowhere. The monolith rises 1267 feet high and was formed when erosion stripped away the softer rock layers leaving the Tower. It was known by several northern plains tribes as Bears Lodge, it is a sacred site of worship for many American Indians. The 1,347 acre park is covered with pine forests and beautiful grasslands. We saw many prairie dogs near the tower. [View Full Entry]

Don't worry we aren't stuck in some kind of "TIME TRAVEL WARP"...we really do know it's almost January 2007... sorry, it just took a little while to catch up on the latest travel blogs. So where-ever you are (maybe in the cold of winter) just sit back, snuggle up and pretend it's summer again. After a long drive to Iowa from Tennessee we finally arrived for a warm and sunny visit with "A's" parents. As an added bonus we had a wonderful visit with Linda and the girls. Then on to South Dakota. We visited Sioux Falls and drove to the [View Full Entry]

It's been a year since we returned from our world trip. We just can't shake the travel bug so we took a Summer 2006 Road Trip. "A" had to stay home to work ...poor guy...so this was a "girls only" trip. We will visit Alabama, Tennessee, Iowa, South Dakota Missouri and Wyoming. A 5000 mile trip. First stop Alabama to visit grandparents and family. Then on to Chattanooga to see Rock City and Ruby Falls. Visiting Rock City is like stepping back into the past. It's truly an old fashioned tourist trap type of place, which is what makes it so [View Full Entry]

Since this is our last stop on our world trip and our next destination is home, we know some of you may still be waiting for those letters and postcards. You know... like those crazy t-shirts that say "My Mom and Dad went to -------- and all I got was this stupid t-shirt!" The real truth is we decided the best way to describe Norway was in postcards because around every corner there seems to be another picture perfect postcard scene. Norway has been a special place for us because "A's" grandfather and famliy came from Norway. They left to settle [View Full Entry]

A Tale Of Two Germany’s Like any classic fairytale Germany’s story includes hero’s, dark villains, dramatic scenery and a hopeful ending. It is a land of majestic castles surrounded by enchanted forests and quaint villages. A story that also includes mad kings, bleak times and sinister rulers. Before we get too poetic or educational on you, we just want to add…WE LOVE GERMANY (we may have been influenced by the large portions of the best food we’ve had in Europe. A great example of one of Germany’s charming villages is Garmisch. We wanted to be [View Full Entry]

A peaceful scene in Haarlem (one of Amsterdam's outlying suburbs)
Sure, we've hear all the stories of the seedy side of Amsterdam! Nevertheless, this is a Family World Trip so we took it as a challenge to search out the G rated side of things. Yes it does exist and we have the pictures to prove it. We do have to include one little confession… Some of the places we really enjoyed were actually not right in the city. With only a short drive to the surrounding area we found many great places for the whole family. So here’s the proof…. [View Full Entry]

They have been living in Portugal for 15 years as missionaries in Lisbon. However, we didn’t exactly have a smooth start to our visit. It happened again, a flight with a technical problem caused a long delay…this time we knew o [View Full Entry]
