So far I've been to Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ireland, Scotland and France. I would have to say Prague was the most beautiful city. Old Town Square and Chalres Bridge at night is breathtaking. I hope to go back to Prague Spring of next year 😊 Reply to this

Umm what about Budapest? It's pretty awesome...with that giant palace thing across the river all golden....that place is awesome. Ohh and yeah Venice, Also Luxembourg city. Its totally cool with all the massive arch structures everywhere, and DEFINITELY not any American cities..who are we trying to kid here. Europe has the most beautiful cities, and lots of them, too... The most beautiful city is by far Jerusalem, Israel. The history, intensity, and the unique architecture make it stunning ! One thing is for sure, I felt safer in Jerusalem than in London. Everyone was freindly and helpful. What an amzing city. I can't wait until I return.

I’m from London, which is fantastic. But for places I have visited, my top 5 are in no order are Vancouver, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Seville and St Petersburg. The views, the lifestyle, the atmosphere or the attitude of the people who live their can make a city beautiful Reply to this

Unfortunatly the age of a city can't really be used as a criteria. Berlin, for example is a beautiful city, but was completly rebuilt in the 60's. Also, it's pretty hard to compare say Paris and Innsbruck...both are beautiful but they're on the opposit side of the scale in terms of size. Every city has it's charm..some people like and some don't. It's not because you've been everywhere and seen everything that your a better judge than any other...it's hjust that you have more to judge.
By the way, i'd say
Paris
Barcelona
Florence
and Vancouver
(oh yeah and Quebec City !!) Reply to this

Hard to say one city is more beautiful than others. Since every city has its own beauty in different ways....

My favorites are the Northwest cities...

Vancouver BC

Victoria BC

Seattle, WA SOOO beautiful at night with the lights and in the early dusk seeing the last glimps of the day of Mt. Rainer and the Cascade and Olympic mountians..

And Portland, OR.

I would have to say Paris or Rome as far as mega cities go. Yes Vancouver BC is nice, but not enough history or culture to be the most beautiful. Honolulu has one of the most beautiful settings, but the city itself is not world class. If course, the Emerald City is very beautiful surrounded by mountains and lakes and the sound. Hong Kong is fantastic. Reply to this

There are three cities I've been to that I've fallen in love with:
Galway, Ireland
Wellington, New Zealand
Québec City, Canada.

The one I find most beautiful is the one in my own country. Québec City is amazing--the old city is a UNESCO world heritage site, and it's the only walled city in North America. It's a bit surreal, to visit a Canadian city with 'old world charm.'

Hi!
I wish I had visited all those cities you are talking about 😉
Anyway, among the cities I have visited, I think I'd choose: Paris, Firenze, Santiago de Compostela (Spain)..and number one in the ranking would be: my hometown Salamanca (Spain), probably you've never heard about it but it really has "something special".

Here is a picture of Salamanca

Hmm, there are many types of beauty....it's impossible to choose one city above all others. But some of my favourites would have to be:

Edinburgh - I grew up there, and just the setting of the whole city is brilliant. Castle rock in the center, Arthurs seat overlooking it all, the gardens below the castle, and the Firth of Forth to the north. All of that when coupled with some of the striking old architecture makes for a very impressive old city to see.

Rome - Rome might be a little grittier and dirtier than most of the big cities in Europe. Sure there are all the women with babies begging for change at the bottom of subways, and the always lingering smell of urine in places. BUT Rome also has some of the most amazing historical sites around. Seeing the Colosseum lit up at night, hanging out by the Trevi fountain, seeing St. Peters, all are amazing, and make Rome a very beautiful place.

Quebec City - Picture perfect. The entire downtown of this Canadian City is a World Hertiage site. The downtown area has been returned to its form a few hundred years ago. You have the walls of the city, their gates, the St Lawrence river, Chateau Frontenac, and the Fort. The city is in French Canada aka Quebec, and it's probably the only place in North America that can truly make you think you are in Europe.

Stockholm - The Jewel of Scandinavia. The city was built on 13 seperate islands, and the setting is gorgeous. Bridges link all of the islands to each other, and this makes for some interesting walks. Gamla stan has the oldest buildings in the city and is a pleasure to stroll through. Then you have Djurgarden with it's parks, museums, and greenland. Stockholm might not prove as exciting as most cities, but it has a lot of history for those willing to look closer, and it's very beautiful. Getting 18+ hours of sunlight in summer isn't bad either. From travels in Europe, the States, and South America:

San Francisco - Where I live. Well, not exactly in the City, but close enough to get a spectacular view of it every day from my apartment. Situated at the tip of a peninsula, built on top of steep hills, it's one of the world's rare natural beauties. I never tire of the sunset behind the Golden Gate Bridge, silhouetting the distinct skyline against Twin Peaks. Or when the fog rolls in and blankets everything.

Rio de Janeiro - The sunset view from Pao de Acucar, as city lights accentuate gorgeous beaches and Christ the Redeemer looms from Corcovado, is unbelievable.

Stockholm - So beautiful, even in the winter, the day after a snowfall. See it from your train as you approach the Centralstation or from the Skansen park. And of course it's Scandinavia-ly clean, to boot.

Prague - The Old Town Square tower has an amazing view at sunset. Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle. Too bad there's so many tourists.

Dubrovnik, Croatia - More of a town, it's like a better Italy.

Paris - For all the talk, maybe slightly overrated, but still beautiful, especially in its design - the architecture, the city layout, and the awesome metro.

Venice - Too many tourists, but it's not hard to see why.

And my hometown, San Diego, California - the best weather in the world. Great beaches. And none of L.A.'s smog. Reply to this
