From travels in Europe, the States, and South America:
San Francisco - Where I live. Well, not exactly in the City, but close enough to get a spectacular view of it every day from my apartment. Situated at the tip of a peninsula, built on top of steep hills, it's one of the world's rare natural beauties. I never tire of the sunset behind the Golden Gate Bridge, silhouetting the distinct skyline against Twin Peaks. Or when the fog rolls in and blankets everything.
Rio de Janeiro - The sunset view from Pao de Acucar, as city lights accentuate gorgeous beaches and Christ the Redeemer looms from Corcovado, is unbelievable.
Stockholm - So beautiful, even in the winter, the day after a snowfall. See it from your train as you approach the Centralstation or from the Skansen park. And of course it's Scandinavia-ly clean, to boot.
Prague - The Old Town Square tower has an amazing view at sunset. Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle. Too bad there's so many tourists.
Dubrovnik, Croatia - More of a town, it's like a better Italy.
Paris - For all the talk, maybe slightly overrated, but still beautiful, especially in its design - the architecture, the city layout, and the awesome metro.
Venice - Too many tourists, but it's not hard to see why.
And my hometown, San Diego, California - the best weather in the world. Great beaches. And none of L.A.'s smog.
