Hello and welcome in!

Travelling is one of my passions. I love to explore new places, experience new cultures, learn foreign languages, try new food and make friends around the world.

Photography and scuba diving are other passions (but I don't have an underwater housing... yet).

Hope you enjoy my journals!

So... I keep photographing Rio in my free time :) The city has so much to be photographed... I guess I'm lucky to live here, and despite all the problems the city has, it's just too gorgeous to be true. Last April I wrote Rio and I (Part I). Now it's time for part II. In this blog the shots are from: Sugar Loaf Ipanema and Arpoador Urca Hope you like it :) Note: All of my photographs are copyrighted and all rights reserved. Though I was born in Rio de Janeiro and I've lived here all my life, São Paulo (aka Sampa) was always a constant city in my life, since I was a small kid. It's the place I've flew more. I'd guess I went there around 50 times. Also, I've spent two of the past three years flying there every week. At the beginning it was fine, but after a while it turned out to be extremely boring. I started to dislike the city so much that what I liked the most about it all was to see Rio by the airplane window. Well... It turns out that sometimes life is a box of chocolates. And that's tasty. Two weeks ago, I flew there to spend a weekend. And it took only two days to completely change ... read more

“What do you think about the internationalization of the Amazon forest?” I've been asked this question* so many times in my life that I stopped counting. It's a conversation that usually ends up in a heated discussion so I often change the subject as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Living and learning. Some years ago I received an article by e-mail about it. At first I thought it was a hoax, and didn't care about reading it. After a while I found out it was real and also a great text, that sums up perfectly my opinion about the question. As you've probably realized, I don't write about controversial subjects on my blogs, though I've thought of doing it a few times due to experiences I had while travelling. I created this blog to ... read more

Due to professional commitments, I'm only able to travel for a short period at the moment. It's a tough phase, but who said life is easy? In order to keep sane, I'm spending my spare time photographing the city I live in. It's been interesting: after a while I started to see it with different eyes, notice things I never did before, see it through other angles. Also, I can get more familiarized with my beloved Canon Powershot SD950 IS (aka Digital IXUS 960 IS; IXY Digital 2000 IS), bought 3 months ago. This camera is the best, I'm really happy with it! I'm afraid I can't say that I miss my old Pentax. Looking at my first entries, it becomes very clear the difference between the shots. So, in this entry the shots are mostly ... read more

After seeing the Brazilian side of the falls, it was time to cross the border and do a quick visit to "los hermanos" to see the falls from the Argentinean side, where they spell it Iguazú. And finally with a new camera! I'm now a proud owner of a Canon Powershot SD 950 IS, and I was in a great place to take my first shots. I was lucky enough to count with the help of one of the best photographers ever to choose the best camera model for me Off topic: I must confess, it was tough to be travelling without a camera, specially considering that I got my first one at the age of 7 (a Fisher Price - but it was a good one!) and have never stopped photographing since. But my old ... read more

I don't like to travel in a hurry. I like to enjoy the place I'm visiting, feel the atmosphere, do some sightseeing, eat the local food, have a chat with the locals... But this time I coudn't do it. It was a short trip to a place with lots to see, so I knew I'd not sleep much and would have to watch the clock in order to see as much as possible. When I told my friends I was heading to Ciudad del Este to take a quick look, they all tried to convince me not to go. "It's dodgy, dirty, crowded, you'll get mugged" were some of the comments. But I'm very curious and like to see it all. And since we were so close to the border, we decided to cross it just ... read more

My passion for travelling comes from a long time. I've been travelling since I was a little kid. My family used to go away from the city on weekends and once a year we made a long trip. But the funniest thing is that, though living in Brazil, we used to travel mostly abroad. And I was always crazy to see all of Brazil! It's a huge country and has loads to be visited. It's not all about the beaches and Amazon rainforest, but also mountains, canyons, waterfalls, archipelagos, and so on. So for the past few years I've been taking some time to see Brazil as much as I can, usually on short trips (10/15 days), as I can't go on a long trip at the moment. And it has been wonderful! So one night ... read more

"It's a beautiful day, don't let it go away...". Some pictures of a sunny Saturday in Rio. Taken with my old camera, that was not so good with colours. Have to take some new ones with my Canon :) Prainha and Grumari beaches: about 40 min by car from Ipanema. Good for surfing and desert during week days. Perfect for lazy days. You don't feel you're in a big city. It's just you, the sand and the sea. Behind there are some mountains, which makes the landscape even more spetacular. I'll take more shots soonish. Leblon and Ipanema: the heart of "zona sul" (south zone) of Rio, also the most expensive neighborhoods. Crowded on weekends. Simply gorgeous.... read more

Perfect place for history lovers like me :) Chichen Itza has been widely studied. However, its history is still clouded in mystery. There are many theories and legends about it. It takes 2 hours and a half by bus from Cancun to Chichen Itza - long and tiring one-day trip. But it is really really really worthy. It gets incredibly hot there, as it is located far away from the coast. Be aware of taking a high factor sunblocker, an umbrella to protect from the sun and a bottle of water - believe me. ... read more
