We are in Australia now, yes I know, it has been a while since my last blog entry but here is the latest one!!! We arrived in Australia around 10 days ago. I have to say that Ozzies are quite paranoid, that was my first impression in customs, the asked me to have a look at my boots, which were buried deep down in my rucksack and to see the little shells that I have got from India. When you are filling the forms they ask if you have got any wood objects and of course you think, not really I haven't bought any mask or weird things around. Well HELLO!!! Isn't this bracelet a wooden bracelet, oh yes it is!! and you have NOT DECLARED IT!!! that is the situation that Ade had to ... read more

yes i did it! that most geeky of things which is an absolute must for anyone who is in australia who grew up watching neighbours as well as having many wonderful childhood adventures I'd like to point out, I didn't just watch neighbours! So anyway moving on and back to the point........I have done a neighbours meet the stars night! Originally i thought i was meeting the actors who played Toadie, Paul Robinson and Lyn Scully but the line up changed to Toadie, Connor and Boyd - I think many of the boys who had been talked into coming felt they had been cheated somewhat!!!!!!!! All of the actors seemed like nice, genuine guys (but then they are actors) and went round to each table with their minders for photo's and a quick chat. They also ... read more

For the past 3 nights I have been living at sea on a boat called Spank Me. There was 20 of us and 4 crew members. It was all very exciting as I'd never been sailing before...and what a way to start, around the Whitsunday Islands... Our first day we went to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island...this sand was the most softest and whitest sand that I have ever seen in my life. It is 90 something percent silica you just totally sank in it...the sea water would come across certain sections allowing you to wade through to get to an area completely surrounded by water... In the afternoon we sailed to Luncheon Bay and I had my first go at snorkelling...the reef was so colourful and suprisingly close to the beach...it was really shallow too ... read more

After Matatmata we headed further south to Rotorua, this area has a lot of thermal activity here and is home to numerous mud pools and geo thermal pools. After a nice drive down to Rotorua we found the Base hostel and paid for a deal which included a Maori culture night and a free entry to the Polynesian Spa. So after this we headed to Te Whakarewarewa and saw what was many of natural pools and geysers, our guide showed us how the Maori people used reeds in the past for essential clothing and baskets and even insulation for the home. We made our way around the pools and geysers and after a bit of waiting the main geyser started to go off. It was pretty cool but not as spectacular as some may think but ... read more

Day 1: home - Christchurch Thanks to Alice’s dedication in rising at 5am to drive us to the airport, we arrived in plenty of time to wander through the stupefying range of duty-free goods at Tullamarine before boarding a not-quite-full little plane on its journey to Christchurch. The trip across the Tasman was uneventful, but on approaching Christchurch it became apparent to us why Peter Jackson overspent his helicopter budget by so much on Lord of the Rings. Every break in the clouds revealed a new snowcapped-mountain landscape, as if the island has an unending supply of them. From our landing to arrival at the hotel was a slow pan of successive scenes of form-filling. One of these involved a declaration that we were carrying no form of organic matter that might decimate any of NZ’s ... read more

Yay! I'm officially an experienced sea kayaker. Today was amazing...we drove to the tasman sea coast around nine and started with a four hour hike through all sorts of terrain--beachy and rainforesty with amazing views...all of these pics are from today. Our hike ended at the edge of the sea where there were big red kayaks waiting for us (complete with the token gorgeous instructer of course). We had to pile on all of this crazy gear so that we were all looking pretty sexy (see corresponding pic for reference) and then off we went! Me and Molly rode together so we didn't have to worry about the guys flipping us....but they did get pushing our rudder out of the water so we couldn't steer anywhere! Then they yelled nasty anti-vegetarian comments such as "eat a ... read more

April 31, I began making my way back to Australia from Shizuoka, Japan. I arrived in Adelaide the next morning. I hadn't been home since January so it was quite a strange feeling to be back, but I was also extremely excited! I spent the week visiting friends and family, having dress fittings for my cousin's wedding and helping her prepare for it. I also ate a lot of red meat since it is nearly impossible to buy a decent sized steak here! Saturday the 6th of May was my cousin Josie and Matthew's wedding. It was a perfect day and I had so much fun being a bridesmaid. I felt like royalty, being chauffered around all day in a limo and having hundreds of photos taken. Now it feels like I was never away as ... read more

Hello All Can you tell that I'm bored? I'm writing more often! The trip from Byron Bay to Brisbane passed without drama and the nice driver dropped me off at my hostel, which was a god send! However, when I got inside I felt really intimidated when I realised how big it was and saw all of these people chatting and things! Luckily, my big bro was on hand to talk me round but I was almost on a plane back home! The next day I had a mooch into town and went to some interviews with agencies. Brisbane is really pretty and the pedestrianised bits are really nice. I ended up buying some new work clothes, as I'd dyed some of my others grey, nice! And bought a new t-shirt because the man in the ... read more

Ok so where on earth did I leave off. I think it was Easter dinner at Monkey Mia. Alright well you’re going to have give me a second I killed off some brain cells this weekend and I don’t quite remember where we went from there. Oh of course the dolphins. Okay so Monkey Mia is a famous tourist attraction for believe it or not, not it’s exquisite dinners, it’s famous for giving people the opportunity to feed wild dolphins. All you have to do is get up at the crack of dawn. Or 7:30, to me pretty much the same thing. So we got up very early that morning and went down to the waters edge. Within about fifteen minutes four dolphins and a crowd of about a hundred people had gathered. The dolphin handlers ... read more
