Hello All
Can you tell that I'm bored? I'm writing more often!
The trip from Byron Bay to Brisbane passed without drama and the nice driver dropped me off at my hostel, which was a god send! However, when I got inside I felt really intimidated when I realised how big it was and saw all of these people chatting and things! Luckily, my big bro was on hand to talk me round but I was almost on a plane back home!
The next day I had a mooch into town and went to some interviews with agencies. Brisbane is really pretty and the pedestrianised bits are really nice. I ended up buying some new work clothes, as I'd dyed some of my others grey, nice! And bought a new t-shirt because the man in the shop was really fit and he flirted with me! Sad, I Know!
That afternoon I got a call for a job, hurrah and so started work the next day. The job is working for a company called Mission Australia, which is a not-for profit organisation that helps people with cv's etc if they're a bit down on their luck. They've won
a new contract and so are employing lots of new people and so I'm helping out with the recruitment process. Its nice to be doing something that contributes to something worth while, and the people there are really nice! On Firday, we had a free BBQ at work at lunchtime which was lovely. Needless to say I made the most of a free meal!!!
Wednesday, a girl from work who's from Nottingham invited me out with her husband and friends to watch the grudge match. The grudge match is between NSW and Queensland I think anyway, its rugby and has been going on for years, so passions were high! It was a really good match and a lovely evening! We watched it in the Storey Bridge hotel which is right on the river front and the walk across the river bridge was really nice!
Thursday, Lauren and Lyds came back to Brisbane for one night as they were flying to New Zealand the next day. It was really nice to catch up again and hear about what they've been up to! Made me realise as well that I actually don't have any friends!!!
Friday, I went out with a nice young gentleman from Manchester to the local bars. It was a really good evening and we went to some really varied places which was cool! Saturday, I went into town during the day but died about half way through! Not literally of course, but I was rendered incapable for a while by my hangover!! And then in the evening I went to a Jazz Club with Ketrina from work! It was really nice to do something different and the Jazz club is right on the river as well, with beautiful views of the city! The band were a little odd to look at and very young for a jazz band but they were good and I really enjoyed it!
And today, I've done my washing, oh joy and am obvisouly here now on the internet! My plans have changed slightly as I think I'm going to go to Perth for a month and work so I'll be coming home a bit later than what I thought, that depends on whether or not I can find work though. And then I'll carry on and do the east coast. I've heard that some of the trips and stuff are a proper shagfest and I'm really not into that, so I think I'm going to pay more and do Fraser Island and the Whitsundays with a smaller group and for a shorter time!
I'm starting to get used to travelling on my own now but I'm finding that I'm bored a lot. There is nothing to do unless you have money. Well, I suppose I could go to the beach etc, but I'd still have to pay to get there and it doesn't seem worth it just for a couple of hours! I think there's an outdoor heated swimming pool somewhere near by so I might go there next weekend! If anyone has any suggestions about what to do to keep myself amused I'd be more that happy to hear them, although I can't guarantee that I'll take them, knowing what some of you are like!!
Right, I'm off! Hope you're all well! Let me know what you're up to etc!
Take care
Julie

Hello lovey how are you ? We're just at Auckland airport waiting for our flight to Fiji. NZ is fantasic i'm absolutly besotted by the MAORI boys. I definately want to come back for longer there's so much to do. When you come you have to stay at Cactus Jacks in Rotorura it's run by the friedliest couple and is done up like a country and western film. I wish i had more money i really don't want to go home but have the oportunity of applying for a NZ visa as we can now get a 2 year one. So if i pay off some debts in the next year i will seriously consider it. By the way our skydive was canceled because of the bad weather, so we're thinking of doing it in fiji. Hell's gate was amazing and the Maori village and feast was spectacular. Love you lots xxxx p.s you have friends an email away
