Trouble with travelblogging is when you're really doing stuff that's cool to write about, you're far too busy to log on and write about it, and when you're free to type up, you've most likely got very little to write about, hey ho! Auckland proving to be a very pleasant place to hang out, feeling quite lazy so tending to mosy around shops, harbour etc, think i'm bored of guidebooks and brochures so wandering round here hoping to come across cool stuff. Did go up the Skytower, thankfully backpackers get a discount, certainly gives one an idea of the landmass of auckland, is the world's 4th largest in that sense though is just over a miliion population. considering New Zealand is just 4 million though that's not bad going. Saw someone jump off the building on ... read more

Just to back track at little, we had a great time in Adelaide with Ros, Chris was feeling a little bit better on Saturday, so Ros took us to Cleland wildlife park, which is a really nice park, where there is loads of native australian wildlife roaming around. We got there and had a look at some lizardy animals, and then moved outside to seethe Tazmanian devils and monitors, and there were kangaroos hopping around all over the place!!!! We bought some feed and they were eating it out of our hands -they were sooo soft, and some were really greedy! They had little teeth which nibbled but didnt bite. There were red kanagroos and grey ones and some baby little ones. We then went around to see the koalas, which were hanging out in the ... read more

The calm after the storm, East Coast Dreamin, Every Man Is an Island, Bundy and Beyond! After such a treat of wind at Alva beach an inevitable calm has settled over the east coast, the water is like glass everywhere we go, our wind meter twists lazily at 2 knots, our kites remain deflated and my dreams of the perfect double back roll remain unrealized. Despite this our spirits remain high, as this is a gorgeous part of the country to be lazy in, the beaches sport yellow to white soft sand, the water although a little cool as winter moves in, is clear and deep blue as are the skies. It seems the perfect time for us to go island hopping! After a long drive through a sea of Cain plantations and a night at ... read more

My radsej prirodu. :) Pridavame este fotky z nasho posledneho vyletu v Tongariro NP, kde sme vyliezli na Mt. Ngauruhoe a pozreli sme sa do kratera, z jedneho naseho posledneho rana, ked sme nocovali nevedno kde a potom rano sme zistili, ze aky super vyhlad mame (te mata peak a te mata peak2), jedneho z poslednych glowwormov co sme videli, co je tu miestna vychytavka, v noci svieti modrozelenym svetlom a tym laka ... read more

We rode out of Sydney on the overnight Greyhound bus, arriving in Byron Bay all bleary-eyed the next morning. It's a pretty cool seaside town, but 95% of the population are backpackers, and the majority of those are from England! The beaches are beautiful, covered in smooth white sands, and were even better than Fiji! We'd chosen our hostel because they offered a free introduction to Scuba-diving in a swimming pool to get used to the equipment, but when we asked about it they just pointed us to the local dive centre where it was free for everybody! Cheeky blighters. Scuba-diving is harder than I thought, and there's lots of things you have to think about while you're descending or climbing in the water, so even though - and I'll be honest here - the view ... read more

Here are some more pix from other dives... I did some diving on the southern ("Coral") coast as well as the northern. The land in the south was very flat compared to the rugged northern coast with steep cliffs and jagged mountains. All over the food was good with an emphasis on fish and the people very accommodating. They like visitors! Weather was a bit overcast a couple of days but the other days were beautiful in the 90s and breezy. And when the weather doesn't agree with you, the 750ml Fiji Bitter beers will! That's the same size as a bottle of wine... all for $2.40 US. Aahhh... Fiji! I recommend it. Darren... read more

We decided to go to a karaoke night in the Roebuck Hotel….turned out to be quite amusing. This random aboriginal dude kept hopping up and singing along to everyone else. Ron did the Commitments and Irene made us to backing vocals and dancing! ... read more

.....Well, we didn't actually sleep very well on the coach at all - 12 1/2 hours overnight from Newcastle to Byron Bay - so we arrived in Byron at 8.30am really VERY tired!!! (Wednesday 17th May). We had booked into the YHA so, despite it only being a 5-10 minute walk, they picked us up from the coach drop-off (better than walking with our rucksacks!) We were given a loft room which was quite cool so, even though we were still in a dorm, we had the loft space to ourselves. We spent the next couple of days exploring Byron Bay - walking along the lovely beach etc. It was a great place - one of favourites in Oz so far. It was really cool and chilled out. Even though we had the loft room we ... read more

Well, I'm currently in Dunedin, a cute little university town. After Franz Josef, I spent 5 days in Queenstown, which is a really fun town - and a town that likes to take your money. Sort of Whistler-ish in a way. Big into Extreme everything. Yes, I did the bungy jumps. I was not intending to at first, but then I decided I couldn't be a big chicken, so I did all 3. The K-Bridge was my 1st jump at 43m. I then did the Ledge jump at night time (it overlooks Queenstown) at 47m. Finally, the Nevis, at 134 m. I have video and pictures for them all - so you can see me freaking out live the next time I see you. The look of fear that crosses my face before my first jump ... read more
