Hi everyone, this is basically for my family and friends to use and a convienient way to store photo's! Docuementing my trip around the world taking in South East Asia(Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and either Cambodia or the Philipenes) New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, LA and San Francisco with my firends Tom, Ele and Clara (for various parts of the trip. We leave at the beginning of September 2005 and I think I will be gone for about a year - 6 weeks to go, okay now 4 weeks to go! Are we prepared? some might say overly, am just getting my last injections sorted out, can't quite believe am abandoning all possessions and going on an adventure of a life time!
This is mostly a photo blog with a list of places visited. Some of the photo's have captions and I think there is more than one page of photo's so don't forget to click next and look at the last few photo's - some would say they were the most interesting! London - after Clara's wedding, went back to london with Ele and her mum and spent my last few hours in the UK at Lambeth Palace! not too shabby......Thanks for that Singapore - I did venture out into the city briefly on the way over and would love to go back there one day for a proper visit. Singapore airport is lovely, if you have to have a short stopover, its the place to do it! Blue mountains - This time did a proper tour

Its greatest appeal is the free internet and free bagel breakfast every morning but it also has little touches like a sink in the room and every dorm bed has its own indivdual light -seems like heaven to backpackers! They also do other free stuff like meals and live music and films...I could go on but perhaps I should start telling you the other reasons why I love San Francisco! Whilst enjoying my free bagel breakfast (last mention of free stuff I promise) I met Mary, another english backpacker and we agreed to meet later to do a bit of a tour of San Francisco together. We started by visiting the Coit
... read moreI was here for two nights and decided to stay at a proper hotel on the famous Las Vegas Strip ....... well when in Vegas...........so I stayed at the Circus Circus Hotel. I met a random girl from hawaii at the airport and we spent the first afternoon and evening together exploring the Las Vegas Strip -this is the collective name for the road where most of the major hotels/casino's are found. Check out the photo's, the hotels are tourist attractions, come to vegas, visit the world, there's an eiffel tower for goodness sake! The next day I took a scenic flight day tour over the Grand Canyon. It was simply amazing, a place for the correct usage of the word Awesome. It is huge and goes on as far as the eye can see. The

Day one (31st July): So today I explored Hollywood and did all the typical tourist things, the Walk of Fame (all of those stars in the pavement down Hollywood Boulevard - apparently, the stars have to pay for these stars $5000 and then they have to be famous for a certain length of time, several years I think, before they can have their star put on the walk of fame), took photos of the Hollywood sign, visited the

These are just a few select pics of my last week in sydney. To tell the truth, I was ill for half of it so didn't get done half the things that I wanted to but it was good to catch up with my sydney based friends before leaving OZ. Also great to be settled for a while after being on the road for a while. Also thanks to Jenny and Chris for letting me stay for free! Was great to meet up with Nanthini a friend from home whilst she was in Sydney for an OT Conference. I was feeling really ill for my leaving drinks but I made it out, thanks to

They also took me to see an Aussie rules game at the Telstra Dome which is something I've wanted to do since before I arrived in Australia! It was the Mighty Western Bulldogs vs the Carlton Blues -it was a very tense match and at times very close. The sport it is most closely related to is Gaelic Football but there are one or two differences, for example it is played on an oval pitch. Thanks to Glenn and Micks tutoring, I had just about figured out the rules by the end of the match! Thankfully the team we were supporting won but as always

Not a full minibus but almost full, the lights were off to let people sleep but most people were too excited! We arrive at our first toilet stop and its freezing! I have not been this cold in a long time - time for a hot chocolate! Then more driving and onto Kings Canyon. Kings Canyon: First we had some lunch, then its time to begin our walk of the Canyon - all people on the trip opt for the hardcore option which starts with a climb up something aptly nicknamed "Heart Attack Hill!" We did it in 3

There is actually a lot to do considering its in the middle of nowhere and is quite small if you compare it to Sydney. Kangaroo rehab centre: I visited a centre for rescued Kangaroo Joey's (baby kangaroo) which is well worth a visit - basically when kangaroo's get run over the joey often survives in the pouch and if not rescued will be eaten/ die slowly. This centre takes in rescued joeys and rehabilitates them until adulthood when they are released into the wild. They have a very careful rehabilitation programme to make sure they do not become tame and grow up as close as possible to

Well after leaving Noosa, we had literally a whistle stop in Brisbane (an hour between buses) where we met up with my friend Jayne who I had made whilst working in Sydney at the lovely custom call! Was really cool to catch up with her although was very brief. We also randomly bumped into some people we met on our whitsunday island trip! So it was onto Surfer's paradise which is kind of a bit what I imagine Miami to be like although maybe slightly tackier and with less bronzed babes but then we were there in the middle of

Rainbow beach: However this time I went from rainbow beach which is a lovely place and whilst there Eva finally got to do her sky dive and we also went sea kayaking in search of dolphins! The sea kayaking was fun although unfortunately we only saw some turtles, no dolphin's. However we did get to do some wave surfing in the kayak's which was brilliant fun! Visited the Carlo Sandblow at sunset which was beautiful, the next few blogs will have quite
