It’s possible that the involuntary shouts from our room at Harry Kewell’s equalizer against Croatia disturbed the occupants of adjoining motel rooms. After settling down, we made our way slowly via the scenic route back to Auckland, and the holiday really just wound down from there: an afternoon rest, dinner in a fine Italian restaurant down on the wharf, and a good night’s sleep ahead of an uneventful flight home. New Zealand was every bit as impressive as we had been led to expect, and Rarotonga just the kind of island we wanted. Holiday successful. ... read more

sorry that i havent updated this in a while............ so we decided to leave Bowen, we wanted to do some fruit picking there but there was no ripe fruit. we are now in agnes water. it is very nice here and the hostel we are staying at is very clean and freindly. ( they actually close down the kitchen to clean it) 2 days ago we went on a kayak trip. we paddled out to a secluded beach stripped our clothes off and made our way out to a sand bar where the surf breaks ( big waves) if you time it just right you can ride a wave in your kayak. if you dont you tip over, we did both. after we all caught a few waves we went back to the beach for some ... read more

Well thought I'd get a photoblog site going so I could get a few pics and updates of my trip online for all to see. For those who don't know, I arrived in Melbourne 4 weeks ago with the intention of staying here and working until September. After a week or so, I got itchy feet! So, this Wednesday coming, June 28th, I'm flying up to Cairns in North Queensland. Haven't got a firm plan in my mind, but basically I'll be making my way down the east coast of Oz until I hit Sydney. I'm planning to arrive back in Melbourne a week or two before I'm due to fly home, in Mid-September. Anyway, briefly what I've been up to here. Have been picking up a bit of casual work in Melbourne. Its only been ... read more

Hi All, Just a quick update as there hasn't been one for a while. We're enjoying our time here in Bondi and have booked in to the same hostel for a further two weeks as we have a nice view of the beach and a big room (shame no football on the tv still) but can't have everything. We went out last night and had a few sherberts to see Orbital from the UK play a DJ set at the Chinese Laundry / Slip Inn in Sydney city. We left at 4am when it finished a little worse for wear. It's now our intention after Caroline went out to get supplies to do as little as possible today other than a walk along the beach to cure our hangovers and watch the surf dudes get thrown ... read more

It's been a while, but I have finally had the chance to spend some quailty time with the internet in order to publish my new blog so here goes... I have been a very busy boy of late, working nearly every night at Trader Bar which is really good for me because I actually feel like I'm earning and saving money now. I worked out the other day I'm actually earning more working at Trader bar than I was at the call centre in Sydney, which is fantastic!!! Because I haven't written for a while the order of the various events may be up in the air so I apologise for that now. I joined the gym which I have been going to quite a lot which is good for my body, but in recent days ... read more

Right, we are just in Qeensland now but only by about 10km, and we're staying in Surfers Paradise. Its a huge city thats right on the Gold Coast, and it runs along side the beach for miles. Since our last messge we have been raging up the coast in the beast that is the falcon...and we're about 1600km north of Ash n Danny. Nick and Russ went and got tattoo's (nice ones too) and the girl who worked there invited us to go and stay at her house, so we went for the night and her dad, Barry, cooked us up some nice steaks on the barbe, then in the morning we shot off. We went up the coast a few hours to a place called Forster and we camped for 2 nights, took it easy ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand » South Island » Milford Sound June 23rd 2006

Stunning day, picked up at 6.30am in freezing cold dark Queenstown, and headed out towards the Milford Sound for a day out of town, first cool thing was just the scenery in the Fjordland National Park, those of you who have been will know what I'm talking about, easily the most dramatic I've seen (have I said that before?) Loved the Alpine Parrots (the Kea) they are big cheeky bastards who jump around looking for scraps and have no fear of humans, they look at you in a certain evil way that is only slightly chilling, gotta love them! The scenery just got better, and better, and better until we came across the much fabled Milford Sound (to be honest they need to rename it, something like "F**king Awesome Sound" no too far. We cruised on ... read more

Well hello again ye followers of our trip. It's been a very interesting few weeks since we last updated you all. Adelaide - Alice Springs (the hard way) Australia is COLD!!! I don't care what you have seen or heard it's definitely cold (in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, in the middle of winter, in a tent). The days are pretty warm though... We Jumped on a bus in Adelaide early one morning for an 8 day trip to Alice. It's about 1500Km if you go straight, but who wants to do that??? The first day involved travelling through the beautiful Clare Valley and on to FLinders Range stopping to see some aboriginal cave paintings. That night we camped out at Wilpena Pound in minus temperatures. Civilisation just seemed to disappear ... read more

So we have finally arrived in the dry tropics and the weather is indeed drier. After managing to persuade the campsite to let us stay another night on an almost official campsite we headed into town. First stop Reef HQ. Everything in this part of the country seems to relate back to the reef and having seen it I have to agree it is pretty amazing. Reef HQ is basically a huge aquarium that showcases the reef and shows those not prepared to go on the sea what it is all about. It was interesting but for my money no better than the Sydney Aquarium. The best bit had to be the rather over the top film we saw about the pacific. It writer Russell Kelly, is obviously a frustrated poet as he tried to shoe ... read more
