Well we've arrived and our body clocks have almost properly adjusted. The first few days have been relaxing and doing the local things. It was early in the hours of Friday when we touched down at Perth Airport. The “front of plane" camera showed that the lights of Perth were still welcoming and that the landing was relatively smooth. Got to Jim and Karen's at 2.00am and spent a couple of hours talking before going to bed. Jim didn't, he went straight to work and by the time we turned in, Karen was getting up. We slept in and eventually got up at 3.00pm. Time for a swift walk around the block to wake us up. Later Claire popped in after school; she is on 10 weeks of practical, teaching in a local school. Left before ... read more

Having left Queenstown, the adrenalin capital of New Zealand, a quieter pace followed with a week consisting mostly of David Attenborough and Johnny Morris impressions.... A new bus from Queenstown meant new friends - really good bunch who liked a few drinks of an evening and were lots of fun to be with. We headed to Milford Sound - sight of the typical South Island vision of Mitre Peak rising out the Sound. Happy to report that it didn't disappoint atall - the sky was blue and the views were stunning. Even the dolpins came to swim alongside the boat. The following day we visited a sheep farm in the south-west region and oddly enough the farmer spoke with a trace of West country accent - apparently in this part of the country they roll their ... read more

Gidday Mates! Well, made it to Melbourne, finally have a chance to sit back and relax and have a bit of a break. Weather here is a little cold, not as bad as Auckland was when i left though! Rosi and Woody picked me up from the airport (in a true blue aussie Ford Falcon Station wagon no less!) and i am staying with them and flatmate Paul. Cheers guys! Convieniently enough a flat mate had just moved out so i have a room for the week :) Just bummed around the flat on Wednesday, slept in and enjoyed the fact i didn't have to do anything. Went for a walk through St Kilda where i'm staying and caught the soccer matches replayed late too in an effort to adjust to local time. Adjusted a bit ... read more

Hi all, Well, hope none of you headed over to Arkoroola to meet us because we did a 360" turn and decided to go north. We meet someone coming from the south and they were talking temperatures of up to -6, so we made an easy choice. Currently in Middlemount, a mining town out the back of Mackay, staying with my (Tom's) nephew Luke and his partner Amanda, and meeting their kids for the first time. From Innamincka we went north east to Eromanga, a great little outback town with Kangaroos hoping down the main street, and sheep too! Next onto Charleville to a packed campground. School holidays up here. Went to the Bilby centre and saw the little critters and learnt a bit about their battle for survival. Also went to the Cosmos centre, and ... read more

Howdy Quite a lot has happened since the Neighbours Night: some of it I could control, but alas some of it I couldn't. Me, Wilson and Bully went for a tour of the Rod Laver Arena, the place where the Australian Tennis Open is held in January every year. Outside the stadium there are a few statues of Australia's greatest ever players including unsuprisingly Rod Laver, who done a grand slam of the Grand Slams twice in his career (Aka The Aussie Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open in the same calendar year!) I'd thought Rod Laver was dead until Bull corrected me: telling how Federer had cried when he'd met his idol at this years Aussie Open. Laver was a bit of a freak (In a nice way), one of his arms was twice the ... read more

Off we went to Coober Pedy which was 528kms from Port Augusta and took us about 6 hours towing the van as we only go about 85 kph to keep fuel costs low. As usual we were the young whippersnappers at the caravan park - last out of bed and last to leave - and we thought we were doing really well to be on the road at 9.15! Most of the grey nomads were on the road by 8.00! I think some of them would like to knock on our door and get us out of bed. It’s a bit like the tortoise and the hare story - they get up early and race off to the next stop in case they don’t get a good spot in the caravan park - we trundle off, ... read more

Happy 4th o Jew-Lie My USA shebang went off with quite a day. Started out as casual as the day before, waking up to a nice view of the city and the ocean, then a nice walk through the park and around town. I arrived at the dive shop early just to stop in and say hi to the people who had been taking care of my trip. “Hey there, so you know what room you’re in right?” they said to me- I was thinking they knew because I was the special guy they had to cancel out of their last trip. “Yep, top deck starboard,” I exclaimed with a smile. “You don’t mind sharing it?” “What?!!? That wasn’t the deal.” That’s right. Twice, explorer ventures effed up my reservation. Whatever, I was here to enjoy ... read more

So now I'm in New Zealand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Darren drove 6 hrs to pick me up from the airport in Christchurch and we drove straight to Queenstown (the Adventure Capital- God knows why I was going!!!!!!) The boys were soon to leave Queenstown but first we were going to spend a few days in Milford Sound together aswell as a Liverpudlian, James!................... As the boys had a car it was perfect as its a 5hr drive away. The weather was lovely, cold but i'd prepared and purchased a coat! The scenery in NZ is fantastic! I love it! Snowy capped mountains and green rolling hills!!!! Milford sound was beautiful and the weather thankfully perfect for our boat ride! Alot of the roads had been closed due to too much snow but luckily we were fine on our journey!!!! ... read more
