Australia most famous beach and one of the world most famous is Bondi and despite Philip being on his second visit to Sydney and being here just shy of three weeks Philip had never been there. so to put that right he decide to run there and follow the route of Sydney’s biggest road race the city to surf run which takes place unfortunaly after we have left this beautiful country. To extend it a bit further he follows the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk which is a stunning footpath along cliff tops going past Waverley Cemetery which is the burial place of the rich and famous in Sydney looking out to sea. As we turn the corner to reveal this most famous of beaches the Heavens open and it begins to throw it down, Philip ... read more

In a kind of Back To The Future (part 1) type scenario, at the current time of finishing the Singapore blog (and to be fair the majority of the latter blogs of South-East Asia) we have been in Australia; we have now been here for nearly three months and are currently living by Bondi Beach and working in Sydney. We have been working at our current job for just over two months and it has taken me that long to catch up and finish all our blogs. The writing and adding of photos to all of the blogs has been a mammouth task, partly due to being so lazy in Cambodia and Thailand and falling so far behind, and now Ive made it to the end of South-East Asia we've decided to give the blog a ... read more

Yoga class by the sea was sublime this morning. It was a definate improvement on the lovely, but only virtual, escapism of the 'Yoga In Jamaican Gardens' programme I used peel myself out of bed for at 6.30am in the dark dank Winter mornings back in Manchester. Today, to listen to the ocean crashing on the rocks beneath the platform where the class took place did something good to still my relentlessly and often pointlessly busy mind. At one point the sun broke through the clouds and for a few minutes it felt like a hot, sunny day. It's becoming increasingly cooler here as my first Aussie summer has come to an end and we fade into Autumn. I'm beginning to slowly get my head around the idea that moving into April/May doesn't mean spring blossoms ... read more

So after getting the car I pretty much left Shenton on his own to sort out "gettin organised" as I flew off to Malta for a few days. I arirved back and took the bus to Bondi, I have been travelling for about 32 hours so was a little tired and looking forward to see where we were camped for the night. Unfortunaltely there are no actual camp sites near Bondi Beach and so Shenton had set up camp on a residential street, but not to worry as the towels at the windows add that touch of privacy! It is actually a great location, Bondi is so laid back that noone seems to mind. We are litterally about 2 minutes walk to the beach where there are showers (Shenton failed to find these before I arrived ... read more

Tout ... read more

... read more

Yep - only 1 day to go until our travels begin! We finished up work last Friday and have spent this week running around organising final things while also being treated to some great nights out with friends :-) So we have been very busy and looking forward to relaxing on a beach with a good book and cocktail in hand somewhere soon! We are all packed up - with a teeny bit of space in our packs for any extra purchases while we are away (not nearly enough free space for Geena though!). Our lovely friends all put in to get us a night in the Establishment hotel in Sydney tonight - so we can have a night of indulgance and sleeping on a decent bed before months of budget accomodation. Very excited :-) Anyway, ... read more

In our last days in Sydney I am really trying to see everything which has been fun. On Sunday Rochelle and I did this 7 mile hike in Manly which was an experience. We decided to do the hike reverse so that we could end up in Manly rather than Sydney, what we didn't know was that this meant it was all uphill :( Luckily we starting hiking at around 10:30am so the weather was okay, but the temperature rose fast and by the time we finished the hike after 2 it was well into the late 90s/early 100s. The views were amazing, we got great pictures of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and various beaches. We saw so many lizards as well, and not America's small ones, I'm talking about lizards the size of my ... read more

Today we caught a later bus as the first choice was full to bursting! We did not know beforehand but today is the day of the bowl - a - ra - ma of the skating world, pros from all over the world have come here to compete today. We spotted the monster Oakley truck again and plucked up the courage to look inside - much to our advantage - we came away with free caps, stickers and key chains! Next stop the Mountain Dew truck - free soft drinks - this day keeps getting better! There was also a rumour going round that Tony Hawk was going to skate - we didn't see him though! We had a dip - or more like a dunk - the waves were huge! We watched people surf and ... read more
