Arriving in Laos from Hanoi is a welcomed change. The town of Luang Pra Bang is very relaxed and chilled out, the buildings all have a colonial/French influence, there are coffee shops and bakeries in a bundance, no pun intended. Finally Shenton can have a latte and a banana bread again :-). The transport has changed from tuk tuks to open backed pick up trucks which at least this time have fixed prices from the airport so we don't have to bargain on the price to get us into town. We find a little guest house on the main street and enjoy the city sites which includes a temple on top of the hill with fabulous views over the town, many statues of buddha on the hillside, including an imprint of buddha's footprint (apparently).
