Sydney, Bondi and the Blue Mountains
Published: February 6th 2013Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Bondi BeachAnother nice Emirates flight and we made all the way to East Coast Australia and Bondi Beach where we bought our first Aussie lunch (ouch...so expensive!) Jed and Hailey, who we met in Thailand, met us and we caught up at their house for a little while before heading out to explore. We had a nice walk along the beach filled with buff people in gym clothes and covered in tanning oil! In the evening we carried on socialising with a few drinks in the RSL with some live music. The next morning we were off to the market for Brekkie rolls and then headed to the shops so Jord and I could by a new camera as ours broke as soon as we stepped off the plane! The afternoon was spent lounging at the beach ... read more

So we left the UK on 17 Dec 2012 on the 13:30 flight, which was delayed by an hour leaving Gatwick, so the switch of flights in Dubai meant we were hurried through security and somehow ourselves and our bags managed to make it to Sydney ontime. Jan and Alek (Hazel's Auntie and Uncle) met us at the airport and we are now planning to stay with them for Christmas and New Year until we leave for New Zealand. They live in Bondi, so we are lucky to be close enough to the city and the beaches. Our first day was an orientation trip around Bondi Beach, Watsons Bay and Rose Bay. We took a walk up and down Bondi Beach and also found Hazel some replacement sunglasses, as she left her Raybans at home. (The ... read more
Bondi Beach & Manly, Sydney, Australia
Published: December 17th 2012Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Bondi BeachThe weather in Sydney today was rubbish!!! Raining and grey, I shouldn't really complain because you've all probably got the same weather in the UK or worse. Useless fact: Sydney has more rainfall each year than London. Regardless of the weather, I headed out nice and early and started the day by booking my greyhound hop on hop off tour bus to Cairns. It seems like a lot to do in only a few weeks. My first bus would leave at 11pm that evening and arrive at 11am in Byron Bay... nothing like a night bus to remind you you're a traveler!! After getting that sorted i found Paddy's market that sold the usual tat but I managed to resist the urge to buy ugh boots and Aussie tops. I walked to the quay and purchased ... read more
Sydney to Byron Bay, Australia
Published: September 8th 2012Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Bondi BeachWe beat the forces of jet lag, which tried to pin us down with a total of 23 hours of in-flight time. No after-effects, whatsoever. Jord is quite proud of that fact, as it's his first flight of any extended length. We made it through the airport, grabbed a SIM card for my phone along the way and took the airport train to Central Station. Our hostel was just down the road, luckily enough, so we unpacked early and headed out to beautiful Bondi Beach. We walked for hours along the cliffs and rocks, hopped into the crystalline waves, laid down on sand that was a brilliant white and finished by circling into town and ending up at the beachfront once again. Walking makes us hungry, (naturally) so we stopped at a quaint, little Italian restaurant ... read more

So arrived in Auckland airport ready for my flight to Sydney at 3am, so very tired but ready for the next chapter to begin. Now... know matter who you are when you board a flight and sit down you eye ball the isle to see who you'd like to sit next to you and who you most certainly wouldn't. I've never been lucky with this game, however as I sat in the middle seat I thought my luck had changed as a young blonde chick sat down next to me, happy days, then to add to this another blonde Aussie lady sat on the other side. I was already thinking in my head what openning lines I could use!! My luck soon when back to how it was when both girls simultaneously pulled out a vogue ... read more
We got to Sydney the following morning and got a bus out to Bondi Beach, where our hostel was. We checked in and left our bags(we were staying in a dorm the first 2 nights). We got loads of information from the guy a reception, and decided to takea walk along a cliffside path to Bronte Beach. It was a cool day but really sunny, so we sat outside a cafe and had a smoothy once we got to Bronte. The views were really lovely, and there were loads of people out walking and running, and there were plenty of surfers out catching waves. We also saw coloured sands similar to those we saw on Fraser Island. That evening, we cooked in the hostel to save a bit of money. It was a busy hostel- mainly full ... read more

Day 9 - Bondi Beach & Bondi Shopping
Published: March 28th 2012Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Bondi BeachIt was a nice, sunny day. We woke up, watched some TV, had breakfast and did everything else. We wanted to do some shopping and go to the beach. So we decided to go to Bondi Beach for a little relaxing day at the beach, and then head off to Bondi Junction which was a massive shopping centre with 6 levels! We caught the bus to Bondi Beach. At the beach, it wasn't busy, maybe because they were all at school. The waves were small and there was some people trying to get a tan. Bondi is one of the most known beaches in Australia. There was a lifeguard tower which was blue and white and had stairs from the sand to the tower. The sun was still shining, luckily we had some sunscream :) After ... read more
I don't know what we would have done without you...
Published: March 6th 2012Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Bondi BeachIt was a tough day. A really tough day. You forget when you are booking everything that you have to check out of a hotel, with all your luggage, and get on the road to somewhere else.. Well the first rule of travelling anywhere should be that you can carry all that you possess. When two very tired children both need to sleep at the same time, and all you have is two pairs of arms and a single buggy (that won't be steered with one hand), it is nigh on impossible to carry two suitcases and three pieces of hand luggage (and I think we packed particularly light). The second rule of travelling with tired kids is that you should go directly to where you are staying. Do not try and fit in a post-wedding ... read more
