Cleaned up the living room from last nights antics, then bought our bus tickets from the 7-11 and travelled to Bondi Beach. Had Fishcakes and salad in a Seafront café then spent a few hours sleeping on the beach. The weather wasn’t so great today, it was a bit cloudy and cold, and the only rain cloud in the sky was right above us. Crackin. We were disappointed not to see any action on the beach. It's said to be the busiest and most famous beach in the world, and there’s a TV show called Bondi Rescue that suggests the Lifeguards save loads of people every day; as well as dealing with Sharks, Injured people, Missing Children and Drunks. But we didn't see a bean! We heard a siren and scouted the beach in hope it ... read more

Oh.."Love is in the Air" here..It is all around. It exudes itself in architecture, nature, history, culture, and the essence of the present. "You only live once" echos the sign at Bondi Beach paradise. It's fresh, pure, clear and clean. It's natural, immence, freeing and lovely to behold. How colorful the walk down Bonte' trail. One must stop, reflect , behold and absorb the tremendous beauty every few steps. This is surreal!! Bring your camera, and of course, your favorite person.... Auntie Mame ... read more

Well, the countdown is on... 43 days til we go. So exciting! Did a trial pack yesterday - Adam had a lot more space in his pack than I did funnily enough, think I may need to cull a few things out before D-day. The next month and a half we are going to be very busy moving out of our place, storing stuff, orgainising required paperwork, getting injections etc... It will be worth it though!!! Next time you hear from us we will be almost on our way :-) Till then...... ... read more

You all have waited so patiently for an update so thanks for hanging in there with us. It's been quite the adventure just getting to Sydney. Kailey and I are what they're calling "Survivors of BA9". During the delay in London, equaling 35 hours of waiting, then finally flyng for 21 hours, I can honestly say that we almost went insane. And let me tell you, nearing the brink of insanity is frightening. We hadn't slept for hours or had a decent meal let alone a shower. It was all kinds of bad! Trying to look on the bright side though, we met lots of new people. Even made some friends!! While we all waited what else can we do. Eugene and Bill, two Irishmen, provided the comic relief tha we desparently needed. Kailey and I ... read more

There is plenty of great little restaurants along the boardwalk of Bondi, but that is about it. Apart from the beach there is little to do, and you’ll have to venture inward towards the city for a large supermarket or anything along those lines. Xmas time was spent in and around the apartment, unfortunately the weather didn’t really play ball and instead of the BBQ on the beach I had to settle for a frozen turkey. Now we’d left it up to the girls to ‘cook’, as you do! In hindsight, with the turkey still frozen at 7pm so we were on course for having ‘lunch’ at about one am Christmas day. (I should explain that being French; my housemates celebrate on Christmas Eve.) However, the Christmas spirit was in the air and the friendly neighbor ... read more

Got to love the greyhound…..or not. It’s an 18hour bus ride from Brisbane to Sydney. That’s a very long bus ride in European standards but for Australia it’s nothing to write home about. (ha!). Now, on the whole you’ve got the choice between two different Bus Companies. There are others around, often for the more popular short haul journeys, but amongst the Backpacking community Greyhound and Premier are the only ones talked about. Greyhound runs more routes than Premier and often with more busses running per day. You’ll often pay more, but not always. Premier has a one bag per person policy whilst Greyhound will allow two bags, neither allow luggage heavier than 20kg, I’m not exactly sure as to why this is the case. But I’m guessing it’s a health and safety thing and not ... read more

I’d rented an apartment in Bondi with a few friends and now faced the task of getting there from wherever we were in Sydney. Nothing impossible, but not exactly the easiest task with bags hanging from every limb and very little sleep due to the ‘problem’ on the bus. We worked out it was going to be a train and then a bus to get to our final destination. Like London the train lines here are color coded and it’s very easy to find the correct platform for the desired destination. Thankfully they are pretty frequent, from Sydney transit centre to Bondi Junction you’re looking at a train every 10 minutes or so. I don’t know if it was the lack of sleep or a genuine observation, but I could not help but think the whole ... read more

The finale of my travels was spending Christmas and New year in Sydney. Paul arrived on December 19th and we checked into our apartment on Bondi Beach. I bought a small Christmas tree and mum sent my stocking over with Paul so it started to look like Christmas! On 21st December after showing Paul a quick tour of the city sites we went to Coogee beach Christmas Carol service. which is 5k from Bondi to the It was held next to the beach and it felt very strange sitting in the sunshine singing Christmas songs. We spent the next day on Bondi beach and then caught the ferry to another beach called Manley in the evening. I has five seconds of fame on 23rd December because GMTV were filming and sending Christmas messages back home. I ... read more
