Happy Sunday, Today is a very special day, as the optimism that the past week provided us as far as the turning of spring has been shattered to pieces. The pictures indicate what I wok up to. Snow! not just snow, but snow accumulation. Now for those of you from the midwest you know that this can hardly be considered accumulation, however in London it definitely counts. I had great ambitions today. I was going to wake up, run, go to star bucks to write my paper, and then finally make a nice dinner. The run has been nixed. So I am going to shower and try to get this paper written. I forgot to mention that Ben Webster made it out on thursday. During the day he went around to see some of the sites ... read more

London Culture I should have realized or seen this so long ago. I have have been here a bit over two months and I just got the "AHA"Experience. I was working for the Postgraduate Open-house night at City University tonight for the Student Ambassador program. First of all the Student Ambassadors are equilivent to Student Council back in the states. We do odd jobs that need to be done around the school and represent the school in the process. It's pretty cool. At any rate I was a Marshal to make sure people didn't lost and answer any questions they may have had along the way. I was just thankful they didn't throw me in to give campus tours, I would have gotten a group of them lost! At any rate, the end of the night ... read more

Arrived. In London. To all the London crew: I will be in Barnes - Red Lion pub on wednesday...if you can make it...see you there. To my friends and "family" abroad, all over the globe... I'll try and continue writing these touch-down diary notes + pictures from London to keep in touch...if you want. For now..just my first few days of getting back to London life. I'm trying to morph and adjust to the speed of everything around me... I have been devouring food and breathing faster. A few days of trying to catch up with university administration and job search in London has showed me that it is going to be difficult to stop and slow down, or ensure "selfish" time. From his side, my nephew Nicholas has been keeping me involved and switched on ... read more

One of my clients invited me to a Football (a.k.a. soccer) game. Her husband has great corporate seats and since my ultimate goal for my visit here is to become a Footballers Wife...I had to go. Judy (my client) and her husband, David are both American. They have been living here for about 2 years and are originally from the East Coast. As much as I love the international feel of London, it was nice to be with a couple other Americans. I was running late, as usual, so I had to meet Judy and David at Emirates Stadium. As the train got closer to the station, I found myself surrounded by Arsenal fans. Many of them decked out in red and yellow. Some of them were drinking already. I thought to myself...this is definitely my ... read more

Now that I've gotten over my jet lag and adjusted to my work schedule, it's time that I start becoming a little more social. I've made friends with another instructor at the studio, Fiona. She invited me to go with her to the Ballet, so I thought...why not. Fiona also lives in Queens Park, so we decided to travel to the theatre together rather than meeting there. After doing so many things on my own, it was definitely nice to have some company. My iPod has been a great companion on the Tube, but it just doesn't replace live conversation. It took us nearly an hour to get there due to various train delays. We also had to change trains a few times. I was really glad that we had decided to go together because even ... read more

London Baby!!!!! OK, so I arrived on Saturday morning, around 6.30am. Breezed through customs and immigration. Didn't even get asked why I was visiting or how long I was planning on staying. I guess having one of those ancestry visa thingys negates the need for all those pesky questions! Thanks again Grandmum!!! xx Collected my luggage and caught the first of the three trains I needed to catch to get to Jean's place. Firstly, the Heathrow Express. Then off at Paddington and then the tube to Kings Cross St Pancreas, then one stop (I think, from memory) and I was at Angel. A bit earlier than planned (I blame immigration for being so quick!), but luckily Jean came and collected me no worries at all. Thankfully she lives just around the corner from the station. Not ... read more

I am flying back home tomorrow... Today I had a little BBQ party with a few friends. I felt a bit sad, and I do have mix feelings about leaving London. I arrived on the 25th of September 2003, long time ago... London is a great city full of oportunities and it has given me a lot, without having coming here I would have never been able of achieving so many dreams! Although I must said too that has not been easy, I misssed Spain and my people so much, there were many times I wanted to leave.... I think that this is a love-hate relationship... this city however is now part of me and I will visit it many times a year!!! ... but for now on .... I just want to say BYE, BYE ... read more

I never thought that one day I would write a travel journal on line... I must said that although is very useful.... I miss the all times when people write by hand..wasn´t it more charming??? I think so. Anyways I might probably write two journals, one that I will publish for everyone and obviously I will have another one more private, where I will write the spicy histories on the way, those that parents among others are not allowed to read : ) jejejej Please be aware that english is my second language and it is quite possible that I make many mistakes... so instead of being harsh with me you can help me to correct all of them right? That´s all, I hope you enjoy my histories as much as I have enjoyed living them!!! ... read more
