Well, after making my way out of Rome, which turned out ot be as easy as I thought, but a much longer train ride than planned I arrived in Pisa. I was able to get in in the early afternoon so I took the rest of the day to head across town and find the tower. Pisa doesnt have all that much to offer, not that its not a nice city, just mostly the major touristy areas. After taking in what is one of the largest churches Ive ever seen, and a giant building that was a good 7 stories high and taking up probably about half a baseball field that was used soley for babtisms I took the regular pictures with the tower. Pushing it, holding it, standing in front of it (by the way ... read more

Well the flights are booked and paid for, so there's no going back now. Leaving here on the 29th August, first stop Playa del Carmen on the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico for our crash course in Spanish. Loads to do and organise, got to pack up our whole lives here and ship it all back to NZ! It will definitely be sad to leave here, but four months holiday is always something to look forward to! We have seen and done heaps while we have been here, check it out on the map. Visited Countries Map And here is a rough guide to where we will be going on this trip Route Map ... read more

I felt like the last time I was in London, I sufficiently exhausted the tourist activities. So this time I'm just staying with my half-aunt Tara (just two years older than me) and relaxing. She has a close group of friends that she's known since she was nine or so, and so there are plently of activities to keep us busy. On the day I arrived one of her rommates made a nice German dinner of knodel with pork and cream sauce for everyone. Last night I think about seven of us went for a Turkish themed backyard barbecue and then to a house warming party at the apartment of the son-of-the-drummer-from-Queen. During the day, I've spent a good amount of time in Soho because Tara works some of her three jobs near there. One ... read more

I absolutely cannot believe that I have been here for a month now. I guess time flies when you're having fun. Things are great, I've met a lot of new friends so far. Most are from the US, as that's where everyone on my floor is from. I now have some great friends from California, New York, Boston, Canada, and even new friends from right at home in Wisconsin. One of my flatemates moved out, and I have a new flat mate now from England which is really neat. Hopefully he can help us meet even more English People. I would now consider myself pretty familiar with this city and think I'm doing a fairly decent job of fitting in. We've mastered the tube and I usually use it a couple times a day. I think ... read more

Wow, I've been here a week and I haven't written anything yet. Well, this is quite the fantastic city I'm living in. I can't wait to find all the little secret spots and be able to get around like a local. So far I've done all the big important stuff--see plays, drink in pubs, and spend too much money on coffee. I'm living in Islington on Holloway road which isn't exactly the nicest area. Its taking me a while to get used to the sirens (you're lucky if you can go 5 minutes without hearing them). But all in all, I've always wanted to live in a busy area, and I don't think you can get much more busy than holloway road. Tons of stores and restaurants everywhere, and only a 10 minute walk to the ... read more

Here are some pictures from recent events in London when our Aussie larrikin came out. The first few pics are from Derby Day 2006 at the Priory in London. A fabulous day was had by those who came to our champagne lunch. The other photo is of Ver and I at the Australia v Ghana soccer match on 14/11. Despite a solid performance by the socceroos (who were minus Viduka, Kewell and Cahill), the match finished 1:1. Love Ver&Lib x... read more

So I went down to Wimbledon, picked up the latest issue of the SA Times, saw a competition to win tickets to the London Wine Show. Won two tickets. Went, and had a great time. Ryan and I jumped on the tube, headed up the Northern line to Angel. (which by the way is a really cool part of London) and strolled into this 'London WIne Show' thing not really knowing what to expect. As we walked in we were each handed a glass and from there we went. As you walk in you are just stunned by the enormity of the place and the number of stands. It is quite overwhelming! So we went to the nearest wine dispensary which happened to be the French wine section. Had some nice reds from Bordeaux and Provance, ... read more

So, I participated in a five a side netball tournament this Saturday. Well, when I say netball, it was a variation of netball called 'speedball'. It is kind of like indoor netball, in that it is indoor and the courts are smaller than proper netball court, except for there are no nets. However, the walls of the court are really close to the sideline (sound familiar any St Andrew's Catheral Basketballers?) so they still have the rule that the ball never goes out and so you can bounce it off the walls. However, because the game is in a gym, there is all sorts of equipment along the walls, which obviously affects the bounce!!! In addition, the spectators are can sit along one side. so if the ball goes there - it's still in play -it's ... read more
