Hello Everyone, I hope this finds everyone in excellent weather. It has been really nice here in Bangkok the last few weeks. It warm day after warm day. 95 degrees is starting to feel normal - the sweat, however, I will never be able to accept. As long as my fellow students have to endure being gross it makes it more bearable. Over the weekend we had a class field trip up North. We left Friday morning and traveled by bus to Nakhon Pathom to visit the Phra Pathom Chedi. This Buddhist Temple sits on ruins of a former temple that date back over 2000 years. It has a massive bell shaped ‘Chedi.’ It was extremely crowded there due do to the fact that is was a sacred Buddhist Holiday commemorating the Death of the Buddha. ... read more

Hello All! I hope everyone is doing well. I am finally here. After weeks of waiting and a 20 hour travel day, I am safely arrived in Bangkok. Things your should know: It is extremely hot and humid. It felt like getting hit by a freight train when leaving the plane. I have not had any time to explore the city yet, so I can't give you much info about it yet. My flight from NYC to Hong Kong was around 16 hours. It was a lot better than I had imagined. I flew Cathay Pacific Airlines, and I was really impressed. The plane was great. Good food and great in flight entertainment. It was just long. I flew with my friend Cecile, so it was nice to have someone there to chat with. I am ... read more

Hello All, While in Disney, my friend Erin and I planned on meeting in Rome. It is a place we both wanted to see, and the prices seemed to be right. I went ahead and booked my airfare. Erin had to wait to sort a few things out. As it turns out, Erin had a large project due the day after we planned on returning from Rome. She had to therefore back out. I was left with airfare and no place to stay. Its alright though. I have become such a seasoned traveller that I was happy to be able to go, and figured I would make the best of it. One thing I will say about travelling on your own in a strange city: the nights are boring. This probably would not have been the ... read more

Hello All, I flew home for Christmas on Christmas Day. For those of you who haven’t travelled on Christmas day . . . it is as bad as it sounds. Public transport is at a stand still; so if you are a student trying to get to an airport from the city you are screwed. Luckily for me, there is this ingenious business called Yotel! It is a Japanese style pod hotel where you have yourself a little room with bed, bathroom, plasma tv, internet, etc . . . I went up Christmas Eve after work and spent the night there; avoiding the transit from the city on the 25th. Home was great. I had a chance to see the family, Amanda, and other friends. It was great to just be able to relax. No Work. ... read more

Hello All, After a great weekend in Switzerland, Amanda surprised me with a plane ticket to Lillehammer, Norway to take in some skiing. I have not done a lot of skiing, however, every time I have gone skiing it was been a blast; so I was very excited. To cut some costs, Amanda decided to leave early Friday morning and wait for me to arrive later that night. I couldn’t afford to miss work on Friday, so I took a half-day and landed in Oslo, Norway around 10pm local time. Poor Amanda. She had to wait at that airport ALL day. While my flight landed safely, the stress was about to begin. It turns out that the airport was a two hour bus drive away from the Oslo train station. We planned to spend the night ... read more

Hello All, This next trip was a really great opportunity to see a lot in just a sort amount of time. The destination was Basel, Switzerland; the very heart of Europe. What makes this location so special is its close proximity to both France and Germany. Its located in the Alsace region of Europe, so it a cultural stew from Germany, France, and Switzerland. I went with my old flat mate Max, and out friends Tanya and Sarah. We arrived late on a Friday night, and just spent the night playing cards. It was a really great time. On Saturday we decided to venture out of Switzerland and headed to Colmar, France, arguable the must see medieval town in Europe during the holidays. It didn’t disappoint. We went to check out the Christmas markets there. It ... read more

Hello All! If you have not ever been to Munich, go there. If you can’t, then just go to EPCOT Center. But for those who would like to make the trip, I suggest you skip October Fest and come at the end of November. Why? Christmas markets. Germany is famous for the various Christmas markets it as throughout the country. They are so popular, the markets have spread to neighboring countries on the border like Switzerland and France. Me, Amanda, my roommate Matt, and our friend Sarah all went to Munich for the Christmas markets. This was a really great trip because it wasn’t about seeing sights as much as experiencing the culture. That means drinking a whole lot of Gluhwein (Glue-vine). It a warm wine drink that keeps you warm deep inside. I think I ... read more

Hello All, I know it has been a really long time, so I am backdating these posts to reflect the time that I went to various places. The last post you all got to read was when my Mom, Grandma, and the Fishers came to visit. Since then, my travels have been intense; with little time between. Amanda and I went to Paris in November. It was a really great trip. Neither of us had ever been there before. We took the Eurostar train from St. Pancras Station via Chunnel to Paris. Taking the train is really great; no travel time to an airport, less stringent security measures, fewer delays. We arrived in Paris on Saturday morning both tired and excited. We checked into our hotel: Hotel Splendid. It was located right next to the Military ... read more

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing very well. Let me start off by apologizing for the huge lapse in time between this post and my last. A lot has been going on here that has kept me extremely busy. My last post I believe left off right before my visit home in August. Let me start with that then: Home - My trip home was great. It was great to get some time off from work and relax. I didn’t have a care in the world for an entire week which was awesome. Big positives from the week: Got to see my family, got to see Amanda, got to drive, ate American style food, ate real American beef. What’s not to love? I really missed driving a lot. Negatives from the week: didn’t have ... read more

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing very very well. I have been pretty busy as of late (notice the lack of entries). Not busy as in travelling and seeing the world, but busy in the sense that I have had a lot of class, a lot of assignments, and not to mention work. July was quiet months after I went to Dublin with Ben save for the homework. We had a two group presentations as well as a few individual assignments all around the same time which took up a lot of time during the week. With classes on a two of the weekends, it left little time to actually go out and see things. But I am okay with that. The last weekend in July was my first chance to do something in ... read more
