We are looking for all travel blog members to nominate fellow travel bloggers for our "Blogger of the Month" award. If you have read a blogger that you have enjoyed and they have 4 followers or less please nominate them for this award. Again, nominations are welcome from everyone!
Congratulations to this month's blogger of the month.
Royv1
He's been a member of travel blog since 2006 and has published 145 blogs.
Royv1 is currently traveling in Romania but if you go back to the first couple of blogs you'll read about a crazy 2 day drive across America and a couple of interactions with the police.
Reply to this Mike, thanks for finding Stigsil. Yikes! What an injury. Eager to read more.
Reply to this I will second the nominations of MikeV, AshleySage, and Stigsil.
Reply to this Hello Mike,
Royv1 was nominated for the Blogger of the month 12/7/17, If you click on 40 above... it will take you back to the page where his nomination was given, 2nd and 3rd.
I keep a complete list of all the bloggers who have been nominated for blogger of the month and who 2nd the nomination as they must have two supporters to be eligible for the award. Sometimes it takes a while for someone to win once they've been nominated for several reasons.
1. We are giving out the award monthly now instead of weekly.
2. Some bloggers stop blogging for a while and you must be an active blogger to win ( published within the past 60 days)
3. Often times a newer blogger wins the award quickly as their writing and photos are better.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. It was a close race this month. Hopefully, some of the newer bloggers will win next month.
Reply to this HaHa - yes, I was missing something! It's not Blogger of THIS Month - it's Blogger of ANY Month, PAST or PRESENT. Now I understand - but I do think you're making work for yourself with such a complicated affair!
What's more, it all seems less than motivating for the winner as they don't even get a badge for their efforts. There used to be a Blogger of the Week badge, so why not a Blogger of the Month one - or would that be another complication for the non-working (or is it abandoned?) awards system perhaps?.

Hello Mike- you are correct. Giving these awards are a lot of work but worth it from my perspective. This month we had 11 candidates eligible for Blogger of the Month. Last month we had 7 who were eligible and the month before only 4 were eligible. Publishing current blogs is generally the issue that gives us fewer bloggers eligible. I keep a running list so it is not hard to keep up with the bloggers that I need to take a look at each month to see if they still fit the criteria.
Plus it has been several months since anyone besides one of the moderators who have nominated bloggers for the award. So I want to thank you very much for nominating a couple of bloggers recently and they are really good ones. I feel certain they are likely to win in the next month or so. I do hope you will continue to help us find interesting bloggers. I truly appreciate it.
No the awards are not abandoned. We only have a couple of moderators who have the ability to do that work and I believe right now their time is being taken up working on other issues behind the scenes. I agree that they need their award. I will see if we can make that happen. Thank you for your insightful comments. Keep them coming.
Reply to this As you know, I have limited time these days, but I do try to keep an eye open for interesting blogs and will continue to do so. You seem to enjoy managing the BOTM award and, hopefully in the fullness of time, twinners will gain some kudos with a badge - and a tab for them on the front page to replace the defunct Blogger of the Week perhaps!
I note that the awards scheme still exists. It's clearly no longer automatic though, as those qualifying for new levels of Photography, Blog Poster, etc. awards don't seem to be receiving them.

Reply to this I would like to nominate
Live to travel for Blogger of the Month. Currently traveling around the Americas their blogs are both fun and informative and belong on the front page.
Reply to this I'd like to nominate
ThatTravelingWoman for blogger of the month. A self proclaimed world traveler with jet fuel instead of blood in her veins.
Reply to this Sorry, but until we have a front page tab and an award symbol for Blogger of the Month to replace the defunct Blogger of the Week ones, it seems pointless to nominate or second anyone. Currently, it's an award without an award!
Reply to this In response to: Msg #206105 The purpose of these weekly/monthly awards was to give bloggers visibility so that they would get five Followers and thereby have their blogs appear on the Front Page, and then get even more visibility. In lieu of the non-existent awards, I suggest that for those who are Bloggers of the Month, five Moderators (or other bloggers such as Mike who is doing an admirable job as a moderator even though he isn't one) Follow the blogger so that that blogger gets five Followers and thus the Front Page. Some day hopefully these awards will be functional again.
Reply to this Nice try Bob - but I think it's even more complicated to give a non-award (front page, no badge) than it is to have a Blogger of the Month non-existent award and no badge.
Sorry if I'm being flippant, but to award an award that's not an award seems to defeat the object.
