So here is a short summary of the past 3 weeks we spend in Bogota... ... well generally can be said that Bogotá is similar to any other big city. It has abot 8 million inhabitants, so it is huuuge and it takes ages to get anywhere by bus, taxi or walking. We had split views on the city, Tatiana didnt like it very much, whereas I (Diana) did find it quite interesting. We were really lucky that we could stay with my close friend Caro. She hosted us for the entire time and we used the time to relax, before heading away again and being on the road, in hostels and buses for the next 9 months. Nach einem wunderbaren Flug über die bolivianischen und peruanischen Anden inklusive schneebedeckten Bergen und dem riesiegen Titicacasee, sind wir schon mehr als begeistert von dieser Seite Südamerikas. In Lima, der Hauptstadt von Peru haben wir einen Zwischenstopp und nach einem amerikanischen Frühstück (ist wohl Standard hier) heben wir wieder ab in Richtung Kolumbien. Aus der Luft ist schon zu erkennen, dass dieses Land sehr grün ist. So weit das Auge reicht eine gewltige Hügellandschaft mit mächtigen Wäldern, die unbesiedelt zu sein scheien. Als wir in Hauptstadt Bogotá landen bleiben wir nicht lange alleine. Unsere liebe Freundin Alejandra holt uns direkt ab, womit uns das übliche erste Zurechtfinden erspart bleibt. Monday was a very busy day. We visited with 8 farms. We started our day with one of our Rose farms who reports having an excellent summer due to such high demand. We then visited one of our Gerbera farms who has expanded the greenhouses and added more production. They are also in the process of changing packaging to assure the highest quaility delivered to our customers. We then stopped at our Alsto farm who had great news. They will be introducing a Lavender variety in the late fall. Their production is great and they are excited to be a part of the Florist buying Club supply chain. We've been twice to Bogota for long weekends. Nice city and very reasonable. One of our favorite restaurants is: La Esquina de la Mona - Calle 82 14-32 Great restaurant with really cheap steaks and potatoes! Down the street from the Hard Rock Café Bars of interest to us. Well it's that time of year again. Summer holidays are here and we're off on another adventure. This summer we have decided to travel Colombia based on a recommendation from some friends of ours and a general desire to explore a corner of the world, and continent, that we have yet to see. So with about a month's notice we have loaded our backpacks, bought the LP, updated our travel shots and boarded our flight to Bogota. The flight was reasonably uneventful. This is only Air Canada after all and not one of the other international carriers that we have grown to prefer. Arriving in Bogota and hopping a taxi to our hostel in the historic Candelaria neighborhood we were struck by the relative ease of travel compared with India.
