I am considering taking a job in Barranquilla Columbia. I would be moving with 2 cats and was wondering if anyone has done this and how difficult it would be. I would also like to know the cost of living, safty concerns and ease of travel around S America. Any thoughts would help. Thanks! Reply to this

Colombia is great and safe to travel! I also live in Colombia, close to Barranquilla and I have a wonderful time. Check out more tips here: www.colombiafacil.com (also tips for expats). I know that my friends who took their dog from Colombia to Europa were really busy for a long time organizing all the documents and so on. At the end of the story (at the day of flying) still things were missing. Grrr... Reply to this

I live in Barranquilla! Where are you moving from? I'm from Wisconsin, United States. Moving here is pretty easy; even if you don't have a job, you get three months with your passport and after that another three after you go to the immigration office and give them some info. I don't know how difficult it would be with cats...there are plenty of stray cats here and they do fine so I don't think heat or anything like that should be a problem.

If you want to see some of what it's like here check out my Tumblr at nosoycolombiana and Instagram at julie.in.colombia

When I moved I could barely find any blogs or anything about English people moving here so maybe mine will be helpful 😊 Reply to this
