After six long years in the same stressfull job, I've signed my resignation and decided to go to places I've always dreamt of going to - with no time constraints! I bought a big cruising motorbike, packed all the basic stuff I need for a few months on the move - including my heavy rock climbing equipment and camping stuff... and hit the road! But before I tell you more about my big journey, let's start with the pics of my summer holidays in SOUTH WALES and BRAZIL. A good starter to the main course! There's a caption with each photo, so I won't write much more at the time being. I'm at Fountainebleu at the moment and the weather's being great so not much time to spend at the internet cafe, but I garantee you're ... read more

Well hello everyone, We finally got round to updating our blog.... after 3 weeks. our schedule is quite full considering we get only one week end off evry two weeks. But we will tell you more about it later. So we flew to South America on the 1st of June from Birmingham after spending 2 days with Liesel and Keith ( our friends in Knowle, West Midlands) who we can't thank enough for everything they have done for us. Thanks guys. Then we flew to Amsterdam to catch our plane leaving to Sao Paulo. We had to wait quite a while, 3 hours before we could take off as there was a problem with one of the engines. Very reassuring... Anyway we took off and the flight was very pleasant and we made it to ... read more

Just a quick one. I've met all of the people on my tour now until we reach sucre when a few more people join us. There are 8 of us including the tour guide at the moment. Everyone is really nice. I'm sharing a room with Gemma who has a very similar sense of humour to me. We met on the morning we were about to leave Rio to head to Ilha Grande, and the first thign we both said each other is "I'm so hungover!" I was more than ready to leave Rio and get some down time. The Island was beautiful. Relaxed for three days and I've given up drinking until we reach Iguassu. So had Ellie and Gemma but they caved after two nights!! Since leaving there, I've managed to squeeze in some ... read more

Hello again, Well after the luxury of Ilha Grande it was time for the real trip to begin. We ha to bus it back to Rio so we could catch a night bus to a city called Curitiba. The night bus was pretty good - well as good as 9 hours on a bus over night can be! Lots of leg room a seat that folded back into a bed, snacks, a blanket and pillow. We were heading to Curitiba because it is the gateway town for Foz de Igauzu. Here is what we have to say about Curitiba.......... ................ Bye for now, Ben and Dan... read more

Oi! I´m beginning to think I´ve been cursed with plane journeys on this trip - after all the trauma of my departure from the UK, my arrival in Brazil was even more dramatic! After numerous delays and a very turbulent flight, I arrived in Curitba to an electrical storm and flash floods - unbelievable! As i sat in the airport waiting for Debora to arrive (and hoping she would make it in one piece through the torrential rain!) we were suddenly plunged into darkness and everyone ran around screaming as water started pouring into the arrivals hall! Having donned my emergency poncho (thanks jen!) all i could do was sit with my mountain of luggage and wait for Debo to arrive...when she did I have never been so relieved to see anyone in my life!!! It was ... read more

(dedicated to hugh) Seasons greetings peoples When we last left you we were heading off to a free dance party on Ipanema beach in Rio and since then much has happened and you are now going to read all about it. The dance party was pretty cool, we found out that it´s a festival they have every year in Rio with these dance parties on the beach and DJ's from all over the world coming down to play for free. Unfortunately the one we attended was the 1st and smallest of these parties with the rest going much later into the early hours and having thousands of people there. Rio was an amazing city but unfortunately for us it is also pretty expensive so we had to leave in order to maintain our savings. We left ... read more

Well we deParatyed (do you like what we have done there) for Sao Paulo on the Friday. THe journey to Sao Paulo is 6hrs via bus and we agreed that should we feel up to it and provided there was transport available, we would try and make straight for Curitiba (having spent a fair amount of time in Rio a break from the city would be good). Despite the many Roman* roads; stretching as far as the eye can see, we managed to spend hours going round bends and hanging on to cliff edges. Well anyway in Sao Paulo and managed to connect and get on the way to Curitiba (pronounced Curicheba). We arrived at about 1am and promptly made our way to the Internation Hostel which of course was fully booked, the kind gentleman behind ... read more

Hi everybody, sorry it's been a long time since we've written. We are fine and still having a great time. Brazil is beautiful and the people are generous, friendly and open. We've had so many great experiences already, it's difficult to know where to start but here goes... In my last entry I said that we would soon be heading inland after our long ride down the costa verde but, as usual, our plans changed completely and it was actually quite a while before we finally said goodbye to the coast. Why ? Well, firstly we had intended to progress very quickly along the last stretch of beach as the riding was flat and easy on the sand, between the sunbathers and the sea. Also the scenery here, on the coast near to Sao Paulo, was ... read more
