G'day all again, Bet you are all kind of sick of me by now! Anyway New Year, New Year, i hope this is going to be a fab one and that i can try and avoid attending hospital for a whole two years in a row and i hope the new year will be so much better than the last one and that you all have a fab one without me boo hoo. Thur 30th Dec Chris ventures out early for work in the morning but was quiet as a mouse and only woke me up for a whole second or two. By the time we all got up and ready and left the house it was lunch time. Jo is having her belly button pierced so we wait for here whilst she has that done ... read more

Hello! A Merry Belated Christmas to you!! And a Happy New Year's!!! I can't believe it's already this time of the year again! Time sure goes by very quickly. Thanks for all of your emails about the tsunami and earthquake and your concern!! Fortunately, I was in the middle of the woods at the end of a 4 day trek in Tasmania when the earthquake happened. I just learned of it yesterday evening and have been watching the news as much as possible. I'm still in shock that it happened in the area that I was just in and that it's nearly anhiliated by this massive movement of the earth's plates. Apparently there are islands that have completely shifted places. I feel very very fortunate to not have been anywhere near that area. I suppose if ... read more

I've got it all wrong... I was pretty cocky in planning this trip.. the timing of things, the exotic locations I had selected..they were all perfect... but I have got it wrong. In allowing a year to explore the world, and 2 weeks for the South Pacific, I have got things the wrong way round... a year here would be just fine... this place is simply the place that daydreams are made of. Tahiti.. the name conjours up images in your mind, I bet, of reef fringed lagoons of baby blue water, swaying palm trees, pretty polynesian girls wearing floral patterns and flowers in their hair etc etc... now I hate to disappoint you, so I wont... it's all true. Well, the outlying islands are, anyway.. Tahiti is the biggest island and hub of French Polynesia.. ... read more

G'day all, Sorry to everyone for being a bit slack with catching up with the journal entrys but i've been to busy working my ass off, so soz again. MOn 27th Dec A nice early morning call from kids screaming at 8am in the morning and my head feels a bit musty from lack of sleep so i go and take Sandy for a walk on the beach to clear away the cobwebs. During the walk the cobwebs certainly get cleared away as it is so god damn windy and the fresh air makes me tired so i have some breakfast and haed straight back to bed for a while to recover. Do absolutely nothing all day as it is to windy so i just bum around. Start getting ready to go to dinner with David ... read more

Hello and Happy Christmas to all our family and friends. This is just a wee Christmas message so that you can catch up with what we’ve been up to. We both finished work on Christmas Eve (they work you hard here!) - Graeme had his work xmas lunch after they finished on Friday, then went to the pub with some work mates. We started our Christmas celebrations on Friday night with a bbq at Luke and Kenny’s - it was a big family affair. Luckily the rain held off long enough for the barbie to be used, and we were even able to eat outside. Our Christmas Day started at Luke’s Uncle Clive’s (sorry, I totally failed to take any pictures there). You’ll just have to believe me when I say that it was warm and ... read more

G'day all, Tue 21st Dec Went for a visit to Melbourne to go and stay with Judys daughter Melissa for the evening. It took us a couple of hours to get there and it was a really hot day too. Melissa is lovely and is so bubbley and so full of life, she does yoga all the time and massages for a living. At her place she has two little dogs called Oscar and Archie and all they do is follow Melissa around everywhere and yap all the time but they are very cute. We all go into town for lunch and plan to watch Bridget Jones at the cinema later that evening. Melissa comments on how lovely and thin i am and asks if i work out as i look really toned (she obviously needs ... read more

PNG News - Three Countries December 20, 2004 Summer Solstice I want to reassure you all I am fine and wish you a fine summer/winter solstice and a happy 2005. I am at no risk. A month in Brisbane allowed me some perspective into the tight hot world of my Madang existence. On arrival back, brother Andrew told me the news- brother Hugo, the Swiss religious farmer come DWU driver, killed a local who was passed out on a one-way bridge near the RD Tuna plant. This is just about the worst thing that could happen to this gentle, conscientious driver. This fellow takes his time, he is willing to spend weeks burning stumps of dead trees just to clear the grounds. The silver lining in this dark cloud is that the university has stepped up ... read more
