i was going to rent a motorcycle today. i wanted to go to the Phillip Island to see the little penguins. but it was raining again! decided to head back downtown and do some shopping instead. by now i have lost my sandals and taking a shower bare-footed is never a good idea in hostels. by the time i was finished shopping, i had bought more than i could comfortably carry (a pair of sandals, backpack's rain cover, quickdry towel - blue one, i am not liking the green one i brought with me, a pair of hiking socks, extra battery for the digital camera, and a whole bunch of other stuff i am not sure why i bought). i went back to the internet cafe and do some more BLOG entries. so far i have ... read more

it's raining today. i knew it was going to be a lazy day. by now some of my roommates have checked-out and new ones have checked in - a couple of girls from the UK and some guy i never got to meet. had a lazy morning. got a nice long brunch. i decided to get a haircut and had my hair dyed blue - finally! i've been wanting to do it for a long time. it turned out really good. i'll post a photo here as soon as i get it uploaded online. in the afternoon, went to downtown Melbourne. it's about 20 minutes tram ride from where i was staying (St. Kilda). i walked around the "touristy" area. it's a nice city. kinda feel like Vancouver - just a bit. it's actually tied with ... read more

Evening all, and hope you are well. Its been an eventful couple of weeks, mostly for all the wrong reasons. I’ve been travelling round New Zealand and have a number of scrapes to tell you about. Banks Peninsula My first stop was a small town called Akaroa near Christchurch on a piece of land called the banks peninsula. The peninsula is a big semi circle of mountains with a large sea inlet running up the middle of them. So I get there at about 3pm… go for a quick bike ride up on of the big hills so I can get a good view of the place.. and it starts pissing down. I took shelter under a tin roof at a lookout poiint while a huge storm passed over which involved hail, fork lighting (only about ... read more

Hiya all, Sun 12th Dec We drive into town today and on the jetty people are fishing there is also a boat taking people out parasailing, hmmmm. I get taken to the local gallery and craft shop, only small but really cute. After the trip into town we all go to John and Judys friends who live just around the corner. The bloke brews his own beer so i get given some stout to try, yum very nice, i seem to be getting into drinking everything now. I get given a few of these and then have to go back and eat before i get too drunk as it is only lunch time. After lunch we all go and take the dog for a walk, the beach is less than 5 mins walk from their house ... read more

had ham & cheese croissant for breakfast. added a cappuccino and i was happy to part with my AU$6.85. the tour bus picked us up from the hostel @ 10:25. there were four of us from the Base hostel. after a few more pick-ups around town, we headed west to start our Great Ocean Road tour (AU$75). there were about 18 people altogether - people from Ireland, UK, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, France, Singapore and me). The couple from Singapore gave me their phone number when they found out that i was going to their country. the sceneries were great. although it got a bit misty and cloudy by mid-day which makes all the photographs flat and ugly. i did see some wild koalas and wild birds (parrots, etc...) who joined us for lunch. on ... read more

i must say that it was a great flight. the almost 15-hour flight went by so fast. we had dinner (chicken & cheesecake) and breakfast (sausage and vegie tart). i read the in-flight magazine and watched the movie about a guy who walked across Australia alone (South to North). it was raining when we touched down @ close to half past nine (that's how aussies say it). getting through customs was a breeze - all i heard from the customs agent was: "here ya'go, enjoy!" while handing me my passport back. it didn't take long for me to find the SkyBus that'll take me to downtown Melbourne. from there, i took the tram to St. Kilda (about 20 mins tram ride towards the beach @ the south end). it's a happening place where my hostel is. ... read more

Howzitgoin, eh? If you're feeling Christmassy then goodonya. Right, that's enough kiwi talk. I know we've been slack and not updated this for a while but we've been too busy (and having too much fun) to spend a lot of time in net cafes. Anyway, on with the story of New Zealand... After Rotorua, we headed for Waitomo. The lure? Obviously the Shearing Shed. In NZ you have to go to a shearing, so we went to see animals being shorn. A rabbit to be exact. By the end it was no longer a fluffy bunny, but still cute. We also visited the caves which involved abseiling into the stream where we collected our tubes for the blackwater rafting through underground tunnels lit by thousands of glowworms. It looked like a clear night with blue stars. ... read more

The driver stops at 3.30am so a muffin for bekkie i think, blueberry yum yum. I eventually get some sleep with the aid of two seats on the coach an eye mask and ear plugs, what a sight i must of looked but luckily enough there was no gorg surfer dudes on there. G'day everyone, I bet the weather in England is just like it is here at the moment, thunderstorms, but still really warm in the day. Wed 8th Dec Today is one of those days when i need to be organized and really can't be bothered to. I am off on my new adventure tomorrow so that means lots of washing and packing to be done, what to take when the weather is like this at the mo i haven't got a clue. I get sick of the cleaning and being organized and throw caution to the wind and go for a swim. I manage two very long lengths and realise that i really do need to be fitter when i nearly die of exhaustion, only to find that when i exit the pool i have had ... read more

Wednesday, 8 December 2004 For me its been a busy year. Travelling to a different country town most weeks. Many parts of southern New South Wales, Canberra and Victoria have been visited. Even one trip into South Australia. Many towns are visited year after year. Some places I enjoy because of the kindergartens I work in. Other destinations are welcome because of the people I meet or tourist attractions found in the area. I've had many centers where I jump at the chance to re-visit. I treat the staff as if they are my own clients. Other places, when finished, I make a mental note that I don't want to ever visit again. Work for the company has now dried up and will be that way until March next year. This is the first year in ... read more
