Hello, This is our first time using this site. I wish we'd known about it when we went to Africa as it seems so much easier than sending group emails. We'll try and update this with our adventures regularly this time when we head to San Francisco, LA, Mexico, Cuba and hopefully Guatemala.... read more

Hello everyone... I can't believe that this is the last entry that I will be writing while on this gap year tour! It has been so much fun, and I don't want it to end because I will have to go back to work, and do all of the boring things again! Thursday was a quiet day for us, we spent most of the morning playing board games with Ellen, and that was fun. At 12 noon, Ellen went to Ranjit's house and Ranee had to go out, so we watched some DVDs, went on the internet and played some card games. It was really relaxing, and we also did a bit of packing. We were all up at 04:45am on Friday morning, and at 5:20am, we drove to another part of Auckland to watch the ... read more

Monday morning we were picked up at 9:20am, and we had the best bus driver Steve again. We drove along the coast for a while, and took lots of photos as it was really pretty. We saw a colony of seals on the way to Picton, and we stopped there to take a couple of photos. When we got to Picton, we checked our bags in and went upstairs and watched Steve playing a hunting video game while we were waiting to be able to board the ship. We had to wait about 30 minutes for boarding to begin, but we were sat in the sun, so it was nice! When we did get on board, we headed straight for the cafe, and got lunch. We read our books, and I did some crosswords while we ... read more

I recently took 2 trips back to New Zealand for Ida & Mark’s, Robyn & Greg’s and Nicky & Quentin’s weddings. The first trip was to attend Ida & Mark’s wedding in February, I arrived on Dad’s birthday so we went out for a lovely lunch in the sunshine at Auckland’s viaduct. Little did I know I would be back there later that evening. The girls had done a fantastic job decorating Ida and Mark’s place for her Hen do; the theme was ‘my first ball’. Everyone looked fabulously glam in their old ball gowns. There was a topless waiter to serve us ladies champagne and cocktails, he was rather saucy; there were lots of little games so Ida got some vodka jelly’s in. After many bubbles we headed off into town for some dancing (and ... read more

About two years ago we decided that we would like to pack up everything at home and go on our Big OE - live and work in England for two years. We were sort of attracted to this idea by the example of our good friends Les and Sue who had done exactly this a little while ago - except that we would not be drawn home after 15 months as they were with the prospect of a first Grandchild looming large and acting like the big magnet. No - we would plan ahead and hope that Richard and Mel would get the recipe (and the timing) right so we could have some time with our Grandson (what else were we expecting with the Harris history of producing boys!!) before we left. Yep, suggestion is a ... read more
